Awesome review thanks Mate quite a luvly little machine.
Seems very capable - less to go wrong than more complex machines. I prefer PTFE spray on the in/out tables of my cast machine over using wax - spray all the gubbins down, works like butter and prevents rust at the same time. These are VERY loud thats the downside so not a good one if you have moaning neighbours living near. But the advantage of having separate planer and thicknesser and not having to switch over a combo machine all the time. Best and safest way to thickness below 10mm on any machine is to put your board on a bit of nice flat sacrificial ply - double sided sticky or hot glue it on if need be - then you can plane right down to a few mm.
I'll try PTFE spray thanks. I think it is available as a dry spray in France. I agree very simple but powerful machine. I the fact it is so compact so it's great in my small shop... Thanks for the comments
Any idea on how to adjust the chain on a metabo dh330 planer and thicknesser after cog replacement ?
*Excellent video 👏🎉🎊*
Thank you! Cheers!
Keep an eye in the knife holders on this machine, the are terrible. They bend between the mounting screws and allow dust underneath the knife and holders. It then doesn't plane a flat face. They generally don't last very long. Metabo knives are expensive but aftermarket knives are cheap and just as good.
I got sick of replacing the knife holders or trying to straighten them out so I'm looking at either making more sturdy knife holders or getting a helical cutting head made for it by Shelix. Annoyingly Shelix is a US company and the DH330 isn't a US machine so I'll have to provide them with the head.
Hey Evilution - do you have any further updates on this..? I've recently purchased this thicknesser (in the UK) and have stumbled across a number of negative reviews regarding the cutting block, which are concerning - I haven't used it yet so am considering returning it unless I can find a solution for when I may come across this issue myself.
@@tash_j19 Yep, got a helical head made. Now available here www.sheartak.com/Spiral_Cutterhead_Metabo_DH330_Bench_Thicknesser_OEM?search=Metabo%20dh330

So you are unhappy with the Metabo because you ran used wood with a pin in it into the machine, so your mistake is Metabo’s mistake! 👎🏼
