    Yet another clear tool beginners overview Thomasz. Don't forget if a piece is stuck, to add to your good advise far better the pull the timber out if long enough then push anything if possible. A good thought would be to add about the grain direction of the timber how to feed as I do feel this is critical when beginning to use tools. As seen on your first pass of the timber showed break out (chipping) but then you turned the timber around and was clean. Well done.

    Thanks for the video! I have this machine but two questions: How much is a shallow pass to avoid snipes (full, half of quarter turn) and how do you avoid clogging the dust extraction I get it all the time.

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  2 месяца назад +1

      Quarter turn. For resolving the extraction issue you just need a powerful extractor, high volume and low pressure with 100mm hose diameter.

    Hi Tomasz, looking to order a metarbo, done some research on RUclips and found some people having trouble with wood chips getting wedged between blade/ blade plate and bending,have you had any trouble with this. Keep the videos coming love the jigs, All the best 👍

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Год назад

      Hi I have not had that issue. But if people decide to take 10mm in one pass then ye they might come into some issues lol. Chips will be large enough to cause that damage if you are taking too much material in one pass or a brittle piece of timber that will break apart when come in contact with the blades and rollers. People just don't know how to use this tool correctly or think it will perform as an industrial planer ( which this tool is not ).

    Hey Thomasz! Which kind of dust collection do you use? Shop vac? If so, which one would you recommend for a table saw and miter saw? Thanks and keep up the good work with the videos.

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  2 года назад

      Got a shop vac. And for the tools you mentioned a good shop vac will be fine. However a good extraction system will be based on two systems. Low volume at high pressure - that's a shop vac. And high volume low pressure - that's dust collectors.

    The only guaranteed way to remove snipe on these small machines is to use a sacrificial board at the front and the back. It takes a bit of juggling when you have multiple boards to plain to the same thickness but works well. As you said, building a larger base really helps but if you haven't the room or just cant be bothered building another jig, just use sacrificial pieces.

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  2 года назад

      Correct. Some people just glue on additional sacrificial pieces on the front and back. Saves the juggling of three boards.

      Have an extra long board, where the the ends (that are snipped) can be cut off

      To lower and raise the cutting head.

    • @johnallport-yv8hp
      @johnallport-yv8hp Год назад +2

      So what do you have to do the depth handle you use for the thickness that you want to remove and the other leaver that goes across the top does what ?

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Год назад

      @@johnallport-yv8hp you mean the red leaver across the cutting head? That's to lock the cutting head in position. So after you establish the depth you lock the cutting head with it in that position. I think you commented on my Titan thickness planer and you have one from Sip? I've explained that to you on the comment you left there.

    You didn’t explain the red lever that you have to switch left and right. What does that do?

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Год назад

      It's a stop lock. Not all thicknessers got it. When you establish the depth of cut you lock the leaver preventing the cutting head to move up or down due to vibrations. However in honesty I hardly use it, never had an issue with the cutting block moving.

    • @effortlesssuccess2585
      @effortlesssuccess2585 Год назад +1

      @@CasualDIY I find that when I put the wood through this machine, after one pass, if I reattempt to pass the same piece again, it doesn’t plane. I have to keep on move the thickenesser to the new thickness. Does this happen to you? I find it a bit annoying

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Год назад

      @@effortlesssuccess2585 That's how it works, it takes material off your board each pass you need to lower the cutting head until you get to your desired thickness of the board. Not sure how you thought this machine works? Or I didn't understand you correctly

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Год назад

      @@effortlesssuccess2585 that's not how this machine works, if you set up depth of cut and you do the pass it will remove that much material so to take more material you need to lower the cutting head.
