I mean, he really can't run for a long time. The amount of metal in him makes it physically impossible to run for long periods of time. So instead of running he uses the force to help him get where he needs to be fast. Other than that he just needs to be a bad ass and walk where ever he goes, his strength with the force could easily prevent people from running. But that walk can instill fear into someone, which can be used as a weapon.

The way this game handled Vader was amazing. Over the course of the game, having played at one of the harder difficulties, you had to struggle for every inch, and could feel your skills improving little by little. You learned deadly new techniques and learned how best to use them for maximum effect. By the time you reached the end nothing posed an insurmountable challenge, and as long as you weren't careless you were an unstoppable, deadly force of nature no matter who or what you faced. You felt like a god. Then you meet Vader. All your strongest techniques, all your best subterfuge, all the tricks that have served you so well time and again he either deflects or adapts to in the few seconds you're fighting him. You feel like despite everything you've learned and how strong you've become he's in a completely different league, so far above you you may as well be an insect to him. He wasn't trying to destroy him, he was trying to subdue him and recruit him to his cause. Kinda counter productive to kill the intended person, wouldn't you say? Not to mention he held back in order to test Luke's progress. On the second DS he held back because he didn't want to kill his son but disguised it as being "loyal" to Sidious' plan.
If Luke wasn't his son, or he didn't know about that fact. Then yes, Luke would pretty much have died on Bespin, (then again, the situation probably wouldn't have developed to what it was in that case either) but probably have kept up an even fight at least on the second DS.

Heart beating a hundred miles a minute, adrenaline screaming through your veins with nowhere to go. Your brain is alternately yelling, “Fight!” and, “Run!”, but you can do neither - because you know there is no point.

This is one of the best big baddie reveals in any video game. I had hear Vader was going to be in this game but all the same his entrance sent absolute chills down my spine. I remember thinking "SHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT" running away from him, thinking that at any point if you slipped or stopped Vader would get you and Cal would be dead.

I love that they didn't fall back on using the Imperial March for Vader's entrance. The ominous choir and bassy synths give the whole thing a really menacing air.

This scene was the perfect way to end the game, i was completely taken by surprise when he showed up his first breath spooked me! Then I felt the urge to run as the music intensified And Everything was falling apart around me I felt his rage chasing right behind me

That "oh ****** " moment when I realized he DID NOT HAVE A HEALTH BAR is what sealed this as one of my absolute favorite starwars games. I legitimately had fear irl as I was running from him.

She knew Vader killed those children at the temple, but I’ve always wondered if she knew who was under the mask, did she know that Vader was once Anakin, Jedi General, hero of the Republic, and the great hope of the Jedi order?

Majority of the galaxy had no idea who Vader was, hell he was basically a masked boogeyman who's origins was unclear especially to those who served him. Only Sidious, and eventually Luke and Obi Wan would know him

Not kidding, top5 scenes of gaming for me. The atmosphere and look of unfettered fear, the building score, the chase. Just chefs kiss. I've never seen vaders presence done so well

I loved the who are you flick of the hand (oh no I guess I'm of to take a lava bath). The fact that the Inquisitor already accepted she was dead and didn't even try to beg just tells you everything about how Vader was.

Funny how Vader held his breath, walked into the room with a few steps and then exhaled.
