Honestly Im surprised Machiavelli didnt get a spot here, i think hes way better than the vast majority of the list. Hes the perfect lancer to Ezio in a way, the two are very different in their mentalities and views on the brotherhood. Ezio despises the templars and their order believing it to be nothing but corruption masked as justice but Machiavelli sees it differently. He openly admires various templars for their political skills and strong leadership, and if the templars truly did desire the order they profess he may very well have become one, but Machiavelli is at his very core a skeptic and a realist. He isnt a bad person. On the contrary he actually holds a great value in using strength and political power for the betterment of all and genuinely desires a better future for the world. Machiavelli also understood this. When Ezio is in need of help it is often Machiavellis schemes that save him but Machiiavelli will never reveal it until much later because he wants Ezio to judge his council based on the council alone and not any debt Ezio may feel toward him. It takes the players feelings toward the character on such a journey and hell always be in my top 5. Plus hes also just really well adapted to the series. I agreed with you ! James Kidd is my most fav side character too. I remember clearly when she died in the game(1st play), it's really hit me hard to cry for her . 😭
Adewale is the most interesting AC side character to me, because he has his own journey and character growth. You can see him change over the game from a former slave happy to just have a place where he's not judged, to someone who comes to hate the pirate life and need a higher purpose. His dynamic with Edward is interesting as well - their different worldviews cause them to clash, but they remain friends, and a lot of Edward's growth is due to Adé. AC4 was just a sensationally written game.

I’m glad black beard was portrayed as human in AC4. He was a pirate irl but he freed slaves on ships also fed and helped the poor so happy he wasn’t just angry and evil
One side character who I feel doesn’t get enough love is Malik from the first Assassins Creed game. He starts out very adversarial (with reason), but by the end of the game has become a close ally and forgives Altair for the death of his brother. His willingness to forgive shows Altair’s change throughout the game.
I think Henry Green would also be incredible ubisoft bordeaux Project like Mirage. I feel he’d be an incredible stealth horror game with not being really built for being a field agent going more knowledge is power, having to sneak into heavy gang activity with ver little combative ability needing stealth even more than Basim but stealth should also be more challenging with him being not as skilled as Basim, but he’s completely alone in one of the most powerful cities in the world determined to get information and get allies that some maybe die from another well strategic gang leader that could be his main enemy that could’ve wiped out some Assassins that are with Henry at the start that also helps explain why he is so determined to stay and fight for the cause even with being alone and not particularly gifted.

To my understanding, historically, probably in prisons, people would have to use the restrooms in pots and buckets and such, which sparks the name “piss-pot” Also blackbeards fuses in his hat is allegedly historical, he would put slow-burning fuses underneath his hat and light them when facing someone to appear smoky, as though he were the devil himself
I feel that although limited in interaction, Master Gist and especially Colonel Monroe should be honorable mentions. If the game hadn't been cut so much I could see possibly more appearances till his actual death in Rogue.
Honorable mention should go to Malik in AC1. While you only talk with him a few times over the course of the game, that’s still enough to give the relationship between him and Altair a distinct arc. At first Malik reprimands Altair for his recklessness, then hates him for causing the fight that led to him losing an arm, but by the end of the game Malik recognizes the character growth that Altair has undergone and forgives him.
I think Valhalla has some great side characters like Basim, Soma, Oswald, Vili, and, if we are counting DLCs, Ciara and Count Odo. Ivarr was also interesting and made situations dramatic.
All of the Sons of Ragnar were pretty well writen characters especially Halfdan near the end. Celbert was also a great side character and was genuinely sad when he died. Also am I one of the only people who likes Sigurd?
@@thebaron2277 I would feel more invested in Sigurd if the writers had included him more in the story. Out of the 18 story arcs, he is only in 5 of them. We hear him talking with Eivor when doing the Cairn stone challenges, like with Bayek and his son with the stone circles, yet their relationship isn't given much focus in the main story. Though I will say I didn't agree with his decision on the Holger vs Gudrun argument and thought that was harsh. Ivarr was certainly an interesting character. It was harder deciding on giving him his ax than it was with Dag considering everything he did.
@@thebaron2277I like Sigurd, but like touched on above, most of his characterization is done through semi flashbacks and references. He’s mostly gone from the actual game once we reach England. I will say I think he has some nice development if the games good ending is achieved, he will actually recognize he’s not a very good Jarl or husband. I think they would’ve done well to add more conversations with him throughout the game and opportunities to see him actually interact with others, as the game primarily just used him as a plot device and even the games npc’s seem to just forget he exists sometimes. Like if you romance Randvi before Sigurd is even captured she’ll just forget any concept of subtly or guilt about cheating on him and loudly address you as my love, darling or dear just for the entire town to hear. As for Ceolbert he’s a good kid, but dude had some seriously bad dialogue. Go find a clip of the first horse ride you take with him, Sigurd, Ubba & Ivar. The conversation they have with him about Norway and King Harald is probably the most nonsensical in the entire game. Ceolbert goes from not knowing Norway existed, to somehow knowing its twice the size of England in the course of about 20 seconds without anyone telling him anything about its size. Few seconds later he does the same with King Harald. Goes from not knowing who he is, to somehow knowing his exact age, again without anyone telling him this lol.

"Edward... your constant friendship has been my most treasured find on these seas. Well above gold and silver and rum, I... I prize the courage you have inspired in me this year. Thank you, Sir! A fair good morrow to you!" Stede's last words to Edward is heartbreaking especially after knowing his fate.
My favorite supporting character that you didn't mention on this list is Ubba Ragnarson, almost entirely because he's voiced by the same actor that voices the guards in Skyrim, even if that makes him really hard to take seriously.
@@emanuelkiraz6481 why Connor? Altair has more time as a main character than a side character. If you combie 1/3 of 3 where he is a side character and half of rouge that is more than the 2 or 3 hours we play as him in AC3
@@A1_42RF Haytham counts as a villain and he Can therefore only be used because of his part in rogue. By that logic Both of those assassins should count as side characters as Well.

not even gonna lie Yusuf actually hit me hard in the game i loved him in revelations so seeing him die actually got me emotional i was fired up during ezio's speech after word as well he was such an amazing character for the short time we knew him
So many iconic characters. I really do need to replay Black Flag. Between the underwhelming feeling of playing through a pirate game and the awkwardness of playing a first person Assassin's Creed game, I know I didn't give enough interest in the side characters for this one. Then again, I think I can say that for just about every story based game I play. Absolutely a me problem. One thing I never struggled with though, was the meaning of "Piss Pot" as a nickname. I simply saw it as offensive term being used in an endearing and caring way, like most mentors give to their annoying star pupils.
13:10 when i heard ezio did not end up marrying cristina after playing brotherhood (i did not know why, now i do) but a woman named sofia i saw it as bad writing. But after playing Ac revelations it became clear that ezio was happy for the first time since watching his brothers and friends die when metting sofia. Ezio was a great character to follow in his life and seeing him be happy once more was enough to accept sofia as his love.
hey dude i'm going to speak about stede bonnet actually in real life stede knew blackbeard as a friend and after having his own ship he joined blackbeard's crew and i think blackbeard spoke about that in the game btw i love the AC content much love dude keep going

Wow, you placed Sigurd at No.500?! That’s outrageous! That spot rightfully belongs to Unnamed Vagrant NPC that grabs Altair in AC1! …I’d place him at No. 10,000 👀
I remember when I first played AC Brotherhood that introduced me to the series (I thought it was just the one game at the time) and my sister and I were completely baffled at Lucy’s death. Like. It still haunts me tbh, like it happened so fast. And of course we were confused as hell, therefore I played the other games to catch up 😂
I really like Henry Green, but it's mostly because of Assassin's Creed: Underworld. In Syndicate, he's just kinda... there. But it is nice to see that his arc from the book kinda comes to a close at the end of the game.
Roshan 🧕 & the other Mirage 🏜 side characters weren't given more room to breathe unfortunately & Beshi's 👨🏿🦱 death was done SO POORLY, Basim could have saved him with his Isu Teleport power or his Gadgets from the Banu Musa Bros., but the Ubisoft devs or Creative Director just didn't do their job well in making anyone feel attached to Mirage's story & Sorry for spoiling, but I played it & immediately felt like crap going through it & only reason I brought it was the clothing, setting & stealth. Parkour is not terrible, but adding side ejects & less obstacles would have been nice, as well as More faster Free running. Also I spoiled myself before buying it & is easily one of my best decisions. 2 tips for you to have fun in Mirage : Screenshot every Dervis artifact place so when replaying the game from beginning (Cus you can't replay missions unless u have save files) you can have a bunch of Materials to upgrade your tools. Also focus on the Tool skill tree, cus you gonna need it. & Your Welcome : )
for me the top guy is Leonardo. We spent two games and many missions with him, but i recommend the bunch of side Characters in Black Flag. everyone has their unique story, their missions, their moment, everyone showing during parting glass is great. No one was boring, even when Leonardo has a lot more Moments to shine
Idk, I think Leonardo Da Vinci is the proper MVP in all of Assassins Creed, even more so than most main protagonists. Mary Read is cool and definitely up there. But to me nothing beats the unshakable kindness and helpfulness from Da Vinci. After Ezio's dad and brothers were killed, Leonardo gave him shelter and pretended not to know anyone named Ezio to the feds. At that point he barely knew Ezio as well. He was always down for a plan, always willing to decrypt something at any time. He gave us a damn gun AND made us fly. He was a REAL ONE. Even the way his face is modeled, he has the face of a good friend. His style is also impeccable.
I have yet to complete the entire series, but my favorite is Mary Read/James Kidd as well.😌 I even prefer her over any protagonist so far. So I'm glad to see her at the top of your list. I may be wrong but I feel like she's quite underrated. Whenever people mention Black Flag's side characters, they almost never fail to mention Blackbeard, Charles Vane and Adewale, completely leaving out Mary more often than not. I don't understand why, she quite obviously plays a much bigger role than any of the other side characters in the game. She was such a good friend to Edward, was the first and practically only one who believed he could be a better man, introduced him to the assassins and actively helped him out during missions to achieve their often mutual goals. Meanwhile Blackbeard, Ben Hornigold and Charles Vane were great characters but did not have a very good influence on Edward. The first two usually just made fun of him and tried to encourage him to become a worse man (e.g. they made fun of him being loyal to the woman he loves and seeking to quit piracy once he had enough money to provide a good life for his family). Mary was clearly the better friend and Edward knew this deep down. It's her death that finally makes Edward change for the better and join the assassins. The writers also knew what they were doing with her character, none of that missed opportunity bs. Right from the beginning they grab your attention by giving her a male name while clearly looking and sounding more like a woman, causing probably most players to repeatedly question whether or not it's actually a young boy or a woman throughout the game until the reveal. After the reveal they hold your attention by giving her and Edward a slightly flirty interaction, that makes the player think she's a potential love interest. Pretty early on you also find out she's an assassin and she remains the constant link between Edward and the creed throughout the story from that point on. And there's a reason they saved her death for last and made it easily the most heartbreaking and undeservingly cruel one of the bunch. She didn't get some glorious death, doing what she loved till the end and with a cool final quote to boot like Blackbeard did. No, she died slowly and painfully in a dark and grimy prison from disease/infection, just a few steps away from the door that leads outside (my girl didn't even get to see the outside world in her last moments😭), after just having her newborn child ripped away from her to meet some unknown fate. That's a horrendous death for anyone, but perhaps even more so for someone as adventurous as her. And as if that wasn't enough, they make you carry her body the rest of the way while getting chased by enemies still. I mostly couldn't even see where I was going with tears blurring my view the whole time. Tragic and messed up, but very well executed character writing.
Sadly, Lucy was killed of because of an dispute between the voice actress (actress Kirsten Bell) and Ubisoft about more money. They kicked her out and tailored the Templar story around her to get a reason for Lucys death. Lucy beeing a Templar wasn't in there in the beginning.
I gotta say, I thought Alkibiades was over the top and annoying, but that only lasted for the first encounter. His charm and charisma quickly stole every scene he showed up in.
I feel that Edward should have had a somewhat romantic relationship with Mary. I feel there was something there and having it so Edward is revealed to be the father of her child would be super impactful as the father as we know is just some rando. I feel there may have been something planed initaly however they decided to cut it during production as it would be difficult to write as Edward maintains loyalty to Caroline so a relationship with Mary would be messy to say the least. It could have been done though and having her be Haytham's mother would be interesting to say the least.
I think Achilles was just outright either the worst mentor that we have seen in the games, or the writers of Rogue had no idea what they were doing, because while the idea of fighting against Assassins in a game is an interesting one, the assassins themselves that turned hostile were so over-the-top evil that you really were just fighting templars again...
I must say I was never convinced that James Kidd was a guy. The only thing that would have convinced me is the rather flat chest she appears to have, but the voice and everything just screamed girl. Then I heard the Joan of Arc reference from the computers where she was constantly talking about wearing men's clothes when she was around men and that sorta confirmed it for me.
I miss roshan she didn’t mean anything wrong at heart at all and loved basim deeply at heart and always did and never stoped seeing the best in him she deserves to be at the 1# in my opinion
I don't know who my favorite would be, but if I had to pick it would be DaVinci. I knew James the Kid was a woman. I was a little shocked Ubisoft made her an Assassin.
Haytham is an antagonist not a side character (also you play as him for like an hour and a half so he is the main character for a good chunk of the game)
*RIP to ‘The Old Man on the Hill’* My boi Achilles is a fucking G, he knew Connor loved him, you know as a father type shit, and who was a better father figure to the MC than Achilles……
I honestly wouldn't put Alkibiades on the list, I hated him, really. He kinda creeped me out, and just rubbed me the wrong way. He's very similar to the guy from Unity that takes over the like underground after you kill that target, I know I can't remember the names, but I think most people will know. The reason I bring him up is Arno's reaction to the character, and that was almost a resigned "I guess I have to work with this guy, even though I do not like him", which is my reaction to both him and Alkibiades
Marquis de Sade is the guy from Unity and you're right to have a bad feeling about him. He was known for many things being a pervert was one of them. Word "sadism" was literally created from his name. What is interesting is that the king, Robespierre and Napoleon all had him arrested at some point. Alkibiades wasn't actually that bad compared to him.
@RaRmAn Thank you so much, idk why I couldn't remember anything. But those are some interesting things about him. Although he's worse than Alkiabedes, when playing they have a very similar feel, and idk if the wat they did Alkiabedes is accurate or not.
Perhaps another ranking video you could do is ranking the different romantic couples in the series.
My favourite Side character is Leonardo Da Vinci
I'm surprised Basim didn't make the list, but honestly this franchise has such strong and memorable casts of characters it's understandable.
u mean Basim because of Valhalla?

Barnabas is very underrated
I love that you are a fellow odyssey enjoyer lol. I swear I feel like the only one sometimes
"Edward... your constant friendship has been my most treasured find on these seas. Well above gold and silver and rum, I... I prize the courage you have inspired in me this year. Thank you, Sir! A fair good morrow to you!"
Stede's last words to Edward is heartbreaking especially after knowing his fate.
My favorite supporting character that you didn't mention on this list is Ubba Ragnarson, almost entirely because he's voiced by the same actor that voices the guards in Skyrim, even if that makes him really hard to take seriously.
Ivarr was also great but he is more of a villain than a side character
@@thebaron2277
Ivarr is a fantastic douchebag character.
I think Haytham should be in the list since he is a main and side character in 3 and a side character in Rogue
But by that logic, so should connor and Altair.
@@A1_42RF Connor is a minor side character in AC Liberation.
@@emanuelkiraz6481 he is the villain only in the mission you kill him, when Achilles show him to you on the brick wall and in the prison. And we can debate the fact that Haytham is or isn't a side character all day long but I think we can agree he is both.
More vids like this pls. I’ve been a die hard ac fan since 07 and this is the kind of stuff I’m starving for lol
Check out MasterAssassin too he’s an ac content creator
not even gonna lie Yusuf actually hit me hard in the game i loved him in revelations so seeing him die actually got me emotional i was fired up during ezio's speech after word as well he was such an amazing character for the short time we knew him
Black flag is amazing hope we see the remake that they were planing
henry should get his own game just like how basim got one
Ezio was a great character to follow in his life and seeing him be happy once more was enough to accept sofia as his love.
hey dude i'm going to speak about stede bonnet actually in real life stede knew blackbeard as a friend and after having his own ship he joined blackbeard's crew and i think blackbeard spoke about that in the game
btw i love the AC content much love dude keep going
Markos is like the Greek version of Ed, Eddie, and Eddy! Crazy ideas to make a fortune. And yes, the jawbreaker is sometimes, truly, included...for poor Kassandra 😂
bro did my man stede bonnet bad he deserved to the main of ac 5
2:10 I immediately lept to valhallas defense but after 120 hours all I remembered was Ivar
Leonardo is definetly my favorite, such a wholesome and beautiful character
A piss pot is the bowl with a handle that used to live under peoples' beds. You'd use it during the night rather than going outside to use the actual toilet in the back yard.
Don't ask me why it's an insult though, they seem like pretty useful things.
Stede Bonnet is comic relief
James Kidd is side character NO.2
Adewale is the main deuteragonist
Pisspot means a pot which is under your bed and if you need to pee at night you pee there.
Wow, you placed Sigurd at No.500?! That’s outrageous! That spot rightfully belongs to Unnamed Vagrant NPC that grabs Altair in AC1!
…I’d place him at No. 10,000 👀
I adore Leonardo, Barto, Yusuf and Mario sooo much. Also Cristina, Sofia, Claudia, Machiavelli, Suleiman all amazing characters
My favorite Side Character is Darius , Assassin of Xerxes .
Second will be Leonardo Da Vinci .
Haytham from AC 3 and Rogue. (before saying he's the antagonist, I enjoyed every time when he and Connor worked together)
I remember when I first played AC Brotherhood that introduced me to the series (I thought it was just the one game at the time) and my sister and I were completely baffled at Lucy’s death. Like. It still haunts me tbh, like it happened so fast.
And of course we were confused as hell, therefore I played the other games to catch up 😂
Unironically Barnabas is top 5 for me, he by himself alone made Odyssey at least two times more enjoyable
In my opinion not putting Herodotos in this list at all is a crime
Honestly i would change Nehal for Roshan, but otherwise good video!
Mario auditore is my favorite Side character
Itse me Mario

Next video idea: rating the funniest moments/jokes in every Assassin's Creed games
I really like Henry Green, but it's mostly because of Assassin's Creed: Underworld. In Syndicate, he's just kinda... there. But it is nice to see that his arc from the book kinda comes to a close at the end of the game.
Never let this guy cook again Mario at 15th place is a crime
Roshan 🧕 & the other Mirage 🏜 side characters weren't given more room to breathe unfortunately & Beshi's 👨🏿🦱 death was done SO POORLY, Basim could have saved him with his Isu Teleport power or his Gadgets from the Banu Musa Bros., but the Ubisoft devs or Creative Director just didn't do their job well in making anyone feel attached to Mirage's story
& Sorry for spoiling, but I played it & immediately felt like crap going through it & only reason I brought it was the clothing, setting & stealth.
Not sure I agreed with the order but I love the choices. Although I think I would’ve put in Herodotus or Ann Bonny rather than Markos
Or Vane though he is more of an antagonist than a side character
for me the top guy is Leonardo. We spent two games and many missions with him, but i recommend the bunch of side Characters in Black Flag. everyone has their unique story, their missions, their moment, everyone showing during parting glass is great. No one was boring, even when Leonardo has a lot more Moments to shine
La Volpe and Adéwalé are kinda fighting it out to be my favorite.
steed bonnet at 11 is criminal. he’s at least a top 5 side character
My favorite side character is Roshan and Darius
Piss pot is i believe a slang term for a hospital bedpan.
What about Malik from AC1? Malik is pretty good and underrated, I think he should’ve been somewhere on this list.
Akilblades I really like.
But also isn't the Bastard sword technically Bianca? I could be wrong but that was my head cannon
Good video
Sadly, Lucy was killed of because of an dispute between the voice actress (actress Kirsten Bell) and Ubisoft about more money. They kicked her out and tailored the Templar story around her to get a reason for Lucys death. Lucy beeing a Templar wasn't in there in the beginning.
I like Hotephres from ac origins as a side character, he's usefull for the story and his personality is great for me
La Volpe is my favorite.

Unrelated to the video but Black Flag is 10 years old today.
I love Yusuf and Leonardo was gold man
I gotta say, I thought Alkibiades was over the top and annoying, but that only lasted for the first encounter.
How does Machiavelli not make your list?
You should rank all the dlc next
I miss roshan she didn’t mean anything wrong at heart at all and loved basim deeply at heart and always did and never stoped seeing the best in him she deserves to be at the 1# in my opinion
Yusuf is the goat. Loved revelations
I don't know who my favorite would be, but if I had to pick it would be DaVinci.
I knew James the Kid was a woman. I was a little shocked Ubisoft made her an Assassin.
You are over thinking it, a pisspot is a pot you piss in. They didn't exactly have toilest and indoor plumbing back then.
Leonardo’s a member of the Real Ones
Can you call Haytham Kenway as a side character? I was kinda expecting him as number one.
Haytham is an antagonist not a side character (also you play as him for like an hour and a half so he is the main character for a good chunk of the game)
*RIP to ‘The Old Man on the Hill’*
My boi Achilles is a fucking G, he knew Connor loved him, you know as a father type shit, and who was a better father figure to the MC than Achilles……
I think Malik from AC1 deserved to be here
Find it crazy that out of the like two main side characters in ac mirage one wasn’t eve. Real
yusuf gotta be my favorite
I just know I wasn't a fan of this overly sexual personality
