This video really highlights one of my absolute FAVORITE aspects of the AC franchise, and that's the gorgeous locations. I absolutely LIVE seeing all these old monuments during those times. Every place we go is so beautiful, and it's not just the locals, but also the peoples and their culture. Mirage did such an amazing job of portraying the culture.
Growing up I was always extremely interested in ancient Egypt, when origins was coming out I was so excited I honestly can’t explain the feeling, and when I figured out I could actually go inside the pyramids I lost my mind, absolutely incredible to experience even today almost 7 years later
I just finished Origins a few months ago and almost couldn't let it go. I was also always a big fan of ancient Egypt and the world they made in this game was so captivating and interesting to me. plus the story and the main protagonist are one of the best in the series imo. hope you played the visual tour as well :)
One thing you didn't mention about Notre Dame: after it was heavily damaged by a fire in the late 2010s, Ubisoft actually aided in the reconstruction efforts. The 3D model they had constructed for Unity was so accurate to the original that they were able to use it as a guide to ensure the reconstruction stayed true to how it's supposed to look. So Unity's portrayal of Notre Dame actually helped save the real life Notre Dame.
No it did not, it is a common misconception. For a construction as important as the notre dame they would probably have its sketch and blueprints stashed so that in case of let's say a fire they won't need a ubisoft adaptation to rebuild it. A ubisoft adaptation that was literally designed with parkour in mind and had to avoid copyright laws
@@drknockboot Ubisoft actually did, just research it “The company [Ubisoft] announced Wednesday it is making a contribution of 500,000 Euros to the rebuilding of the cathedral. And the Paris-headquartered game maker said Wednesday it will make its virtual rendition of the cathedral available to those involved in the rebuilding of the church.” - USA Today I’m not sure how much the digital model was used to aid the rebuilding, but it actually was used
There's actually a documentary of how useful the 3d models of the cathedral were. They were some of the most accurate 3d models of any building ever created @drknockboot
I've gone to Florence and visiting after playing AC 2 was such an experience. It does such a great job of capturing the grandeur of both Palazzo Vecchio and Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.
Man I urge every fan of AC to visit Florence if they’re able. I visited last summer and it was so cool visiting all of the landmarks and comparing them to AC2. There’s also a restaurant outside the Uffizi museum that even depicts Ezio on their menu!
Always thought Hadrian’s Wall and the many other Roman landmarks in Valhalla were interesting. Even more cool that you can still see the remnants of these sites today
Hadrians wall and the recreation of Winchester and Jorvik were really cool to me as a fan of the Viking era. The cathedral of Winchester is an amazing landmark imo
And stonehenge is significant because to move those massive stones back in the time it was built is a mystery like how the pyramids were built. They had no tools that were capable of moving something so heavy.

You forgot about the reconstructed Lighthouse of Alexandria in Origins . It was one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient times along with the Egyptian Pyramids.
What you brought to my attention is the further back in time you kept going in the AC games the harder it was for you to gives us information that Ubisoft could get simply because the further down the timeline you went the more of how much lost history was left behind even the evidence of things were reduced to rubble or demolished or burn down , stolen, pillaged and erased. Example, Origins, Odyssey, Mirage, Black Flag. Truly sad anyone else noticed?
I think The House of Wisdom, and the Round City as a whole, in Mirage is fantastic, especially since these are lost places that no longer exist, and have not existed for so long, so it's impressive how that managed to recreate them The game captures old islamic arabian culture so beautifully, in a setting only popularly known to most people in Disney's Aladdin

Fun fact: the secret chamber in the pyramids was part of a theory posed by the egyptologist that Ubisoft hired to help them design their Pyramids of Giza. This archeologist is a firm believer of an alternative theory of how the pyramids were built. Most scolars believe that external sand ramps were build arpund the pyramid whike this was being built, and when the pyramid was completed then it was buried in an arificail mound of sand, and then they had to dig out the pyramid. This guy supported the alternative theory that the ramps were not external but internal to the pyramid and the pyramid was built around the ramps. The advantage is that the ramps were hidden by the walls of the pyramid, thus creating inaccesible chambers and passage ways in the finished Pyramid. Ubisoft did what they did and made it possible to access this system because gmaeplay wise is more interesting in-game thus "predicting" the discovery of the hidden chamber. Ubisoft did a very good job of explaining this in the information they provided with the game and then later in the historical tour in-game, where you toured this ramps while they were very clear that no theory has proven to be the correct one.

Another insane thing is Ottomans removed the sculpted square pieces from the Parthenon, called metopes, to pick the lead nails keeping them in place because they needed lead for ammo, and left the metopes in the dirt, so that British guy lord Elgin didn't even have to remove them from the temple before bringing them to London, he just yoinked them from the ground lmao

For Liberation you really only had 3 options...Congo Square, St. Louis Cathedral or Chichen Itza.
And to be fair, i can't make any of the top of my head for Freedom Cry but there prob are some but it's been a while since i played it.
I rage quitted on sequence 13 i never beat the games that had the 2 missing sequences
Origins could be pyramids of giza and pharos though. I mean they are both literally wonders of the world
You're not gonna mention OLYMPIA of all places
giza and the place where ceasar died for me tbh
He always skips liberation
Im gonna start counting every video i comment this on your gonna be Big i know it (video1)
So sorry to ask, new to the lore here..is there no interesting landmark in AC Liberation or AC Freedom Cry
Liberation has Chichen Iza. The great Mayan pyramid and the serounding Mayan ruins in Mexico. Awsome to see
Only notable place in freedom cry is more of a location than a landmark and that's the west coast of Africa.
The library at Alexandria is special for me ...but then again they all are ...this is why I'm loath to criticize ubisoft like some people...they know are to recreate these beautiful and iconic land marks that some of us will never get to see
Content is good, but gotta work on your parkour maneuver. There were couple of hilarious deaths.
Hadrian's Wall is in Valhalla, far more historic & important than Stonehenge
Not really, I think both are important
Stonehenge was as old as the Egyptian pyramids, and there is still some mystery about how they were constructed, and what its true purpose was.
I used to read those.
AC1 - The church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The most holiest place in Christianity.
Ammunition storage, insanity
Another insane thing is Ottomans removed the sculpted square pieces from the Parthenon, called metopes, to pick the lead nails keeping them in place because they needed lead for ammo, and left the metopes in the dirt, so that British guy lord Elgin didn't even have to remove them from the temple before bringing them to London, he just yoinked them from the ground lmao
Yeah not to be a stickler for detail here but you are aware that the clock tower is not big Ben that's just the name for the bell inside the clock
You missed loads in Valhalla. the Long man is just one of them.
Theres closer to thousands of historical landmarks. Small statues, tombs, churchs, temples, streets, forts etc
In Black Flag you can visit Maya Pyramids you forgot that
Also in Liberation you can visit the largest of all Maya pyramids the Chicen Iza pyramid in Mexico
Wait what ?? I thought AC 2 was in lots of Italian cities and brotherhood only in Rome
You are right
