M-GENES ~ Free Again (aorheart) in loving memory of Maaike Janssen

And here's another video from 2013 by M-GENES titled "Free Again". I'll post this here in connection with the recently released album by M-GENES entitled "Strings Of DNA".This is the first song on the album.
It has been so long since Maaike passed away. I was in regular contact with her as a fan during the time of her bands SIXMATCH, M-GENES and JUNKYARD PRINCESS.
Sometimes I think there is no such thing as coincidence... I thought about Maaike this week and that's why I looked at old messages on Facebook about her old band M-GENES and I looked up the great clip of "Ratrace" again on the M-GENES RUclips Channel.
And to my great surprise I saw that the M-GENES CD had recently been released!!! which is of course great but also gave me a bit of a strange feeling.
M-GENES was a Dutch AOR/Melodic (hard) rock project formed by Mike van Mulukom and Maaike Janssen.
The music was written and recorded by Mike and the lyrics were written and sung by Maaike.
They had written 17 songs and had started recording their debut CD.
However, Maaike became very ill at the time the album was being recorded and the project was terminated.
Maaike Janssen was told that she was terminally ill and died on December 11, 2016, which was a great loss!
I never expected the album to ever be released again...
But now finally in 2024, more than ten years later, and after a lot of hard work, the M-GENES album "Strings of DNA" can be listened to everywhere.
It really has become a very good album and great to hear Maaike's voice!
The album contains 13 songs that vary from heavy up-tempo Melodic rock songs to sensitive ballads.
