A great tutorial! I replaced my PS4 CUH1116A thermal paste with the help of your old video. In that video, you didn't voice what you were doing. In other words, you didn't say how many screws you were taking out and what type they were etc. This time around you do, and you even tell what kinds of problems are common and what they're usually caused by. It's a great video.
Thank you @fasttech, I have this model, your guide helped me get all the way through, no extra screws left behind. Put Arctic MX-4 with Arctic thermal pads. It is whisper quiet now.
I would personally recommend removing the connecter from the power supply itself. Following this video I tried removing from connector on the mother board and the connector broke off from the motherboard. Now my PS4 is completely broken and I don't even know if that is something that can be fixed. Hope I can save others from having this happen.
Same with me i dont have a torx security screw driver so i disconnected from the motherboard an it was so tight i ripped it off now u have to solder it back together fml good thing i have a ps5 tho
Thank you for your video. Was able to disassemble my PS4 Pro (Death Stranding Edition) and clean the dust, replace the thermal paste and pads without opening the console (4 yrs old in September).
So I was following this guide and ended up tearing off the part/port on the motherboard that the powersupply cable plugs into. I read someplace that to replace the motherboard I would need a optical drive that is synced or something to the motherboard. That if I were to replace the motherboard itself I would need a new synced optical drive. Hopefully if thats not the case I could purchase a replacement motherboard
You need a matching disc drive logic board to go with mainboard not the disc drive itself but only for first gen ps4 1000 and 1100 series. Ps4 pro systems do not have a dedicated drive logic board and its built onto the mainboard. We sell paired units on our site. Check the links in the description box and top comment.
Great video - I had problems getting the power supply out of a PS4 Pro I just bought and didn't know about the two screws you had to remove on the flip side. Excellent video - PS4 Pro now runs virtually silent after thorough cleaning and replacing thermal paste 😀 👍
Wow, how do people let their consoles get so dusty, i clean mine every week and not a spec of dust, new fan and noctua thermal paste and my 2018 model sounds like its brand new.
@@fasttechvideo well it's quite the story. I followed your guide and another person's guide to tear down my Ps4. I've never felt so much anxiety trying to fix a piece of technology and it took me almost 2 hours for the whole process. Probably the worst part was taking the sand piece out of the slot because it wouldn't come out and I eventually broke a cable from the fan but since I was replacing the fan it wasn't a big deal anyways. Everything about this was so difficult and putting it back together had me stressed out too because the power supply when it go back in all the way because the two-pronged piece was bent out of shape and I didn't know that until I saw another person's video of how the prong should have looked and it still took me a long time to figure out how to reshape the prongs until what they should be. I didn't even know if my PS4 was going to work after I put it all together but miraculously it turned back on and hopefully things will be a lot quieter now lol
Those Delta Fans are Industrial fans. They are no joke, a good selection by Sony. I just wish Sony did a better job of designing their cases so that there was an air filter involved and less air restriction from the vent design. Their cutsie case design with side vents is idiotic.
@@fauzitanjung8445 7200 series is the last ps4 pro with a smaller nm APU and cools better. The 7000 and 7100 and very similar but the power supply, mainboard and disc drives are slightly different. Hope that helps
Just purchased thermal grizzly pad extreme for all my PS systems. Thing is that it’s more like a putty that you can reshape and not so much like the stock pads. Should it still be ok?
@@fasttechvideo awesome! And thank you for the fast reply. I actually have ps4 disassembled at the moment. I am ready to put my pink grizzly paste on the processor lol.
@@fasttechvideo oh, it wasn’t a repair. This was just me maintaining my systems for the first time with a deep cleaning. Changing the pads out on the PS2 slim, we, PS3 slim, PS3 a01, PS4 pro. Wow, how do people let their consoles get so dusty, i clean mine every week and not a spec of dust, new fan and noctua thermal paste and my 2018 model sounds like its brand new.
The consoles get dusty because the home is dusty.
Its probably because most people aren't educated on what dust does to a console lifespan
Update 9.00 disabled the cmos battery handshake so that's no longer a problem if you are running that firmware.
Thanks for the info, this was not the case when this video was recorded.
I'm getting a new fan and replacing the thermal paste on my PS4 Pro soon and this is helpful, but looks very daunting to do
