I Paid $50 for This BROKEN PS4 PRO - Let's Try to Fix It! The seller said his son was trying to upgrade the fan on this PS4 Pro but unfortunately he broke off the power connector. So I bought it for $50 to see if I could get it fully working again.

Because of your videos I bought my very first soldering station and repaired all broken toys for my daughter :)
Dang how much did the soldering station cost?
@@davy_5 like 20 bucks. It's a cheap one, but gets the job done.
@@rogigor its impressive how cheap that can get
I have this model, it is so pretty. I changed out the Thermal Paste with MX-6 and Thermal Pads with Gelid Extreme. It runs really quietly.
Awesome job with the PSU Connector! and a bonus doing that SATA Connector on the SSD! Solid work!
Thanks Chase!

Can you use SSD on a regular PS4 console? Or only PS4 pro?
*RiP the guy who sold his ps4 pro for 50 dollars*
And the fact it was the white one too💀
Idk why but in my country the white controller is 4x more expensive than normal ones
@@rishanthehe I have a late model white PS4 pro CUH 7216b model. I bought it second hand barely used for a similar price to what I sold my original first generation PS4 pro black for. So here in the UK there wasn't much difference in price across the colours of ps4 pro. I even managed to grab a god of war PS4 pro for £170 just the other day. Not a mark on it. Cuh 7116 I believe (2nd gen PS4 pro). Cheers.

I just bought a Xbox one x for 75 dollars and all it needed was a offline software update 😭😭

I love how the whole "Perfect amount of thermal paste" joke is still relevant, like it has not slowed down and you havent gotten lazy with it its ALWAYS a joke and you even made it better with the choir . Good Stuff man lol
Love your videos Steve! I have been watching since 2015 and I've got to say, I have learnt a lot from you. Your videos never get boring. Keep up the great work!
same steve is where i learned how to fix my 3ds handhelds i just got done shellswapping my 3ds xl and dsi xl and both were semi hard to do for my first time but it went well nothing was broken by the end and now i have 2 custom painted shells on both i will always watch his vids and continue to gain skills 😊
nice work keeping these Pros on the road! (so to speak) Loved the SSD repair - i work in IT, and it has always been hilarious how easy it is to break those SATA connectors (power too).
I've installed thousands of HD's and SSD's since 1996 and I have never broken a HD Connector and on old computers they fit extremely tight! Not sure what one has to do to break one of those but it has to be pure negligence.
@@theINQBS I haven't either - but they are designed to stay put once connected. Disconnecting them is always tricky. It's like they spent more time designing the connector's closed position to be fierce than actually trying using them in practice. Exposed connectors never help either, also an easy thing to screw up if you aren't careful. Not everyone's a pro, but these connectors in general are poorly designed.
PATA was a better connector design than SATA (though bent pins on one side of the hard drive were pretty common to find from people not pulling them out straight).
steve the great is back i love how you take game consols and bring them back to life and give a new lease on life i would love to see more retro game consols or handeheld restoration videos keep on expanding your content and keep making new videos love ya ❤
Loved that you added the ssd fix in the video as well! Great job. 🙏🏼
I still love watching these ps4 fixable vids even though I changed to Ps5 nearly 2 years ago...Great job Steve 👍
I am hooked on watching your videos. I am a tinkerer myself. And i know one day i will need this valuable information. I appreciate you sharing all these videos with us brother. Thank you
Steve I was just thinking about you bro! Tomorrow I'm going to get 14 ps4's and before I would have never dared to buy something like this so fast. I knew I had to be fast and now we have a deal! Hey, Steve. Have you ever thought about repairing classic consoles such as the PS2 or PS3?
He has repaired those.
Because of thos video, I will be able to repair my ps4 with the torn power connector. Thank you steve a lot
I love watching last gen consoles get cleaned, pasted and upgraded to SSD. It really gives new life to these consoles. I cleaned and installed a SSD in my XB1 recently and it’s very rewarding.
I like these repair videos for last gen consoles that most people still have 👍
I started up a small repair service out of home at the beginning of the year, but had to stop because of lying customers.
Always claiming that they didn’t open up their units, to discovering broken traces, dried flux everywhere, and warped/burnt PCB caused by excessive soldering. It’s always idiots dropping their consoles, breaking the HDMI port and using random RUclips videos as reference without any experience using equipment, much less steady hands.
I don't have the patience to deal with customers that claim, “the customer is always right,” when they clearly lied through their teeth.
Happy Friday Steve! Thanks again for the great video!
My pleasure!
I love your work it's so satisfying. 😊

Your the best in the business today Steve. I wish I could do what you do. Your a "GOD" to me & my younger brother who are both disabled. Bless you & yours forever 🎉🎮 🖥 💻
Glad to see you got a grinding a pen. So helpful vs the old scraping method.
Love the video as usual! Curious why you didn’t use a hot air station to remove the bad SSD connector?
Better to not melt the plastic if possible - not that it matters too much I guess since it's broken.
Love your show makes being sick sometimes better keep up the good work
Perfectly edited the video showing the perfect application of thermal paste.
I guess you clean the fan as well 😉
Nice video , as always 🙂
Our Superhero has returned 🎉🎉 thanks for the awesome video!
Wow, what rough handling... Broke the SATA connector too?
I understand everyone starts somewhere, but that's a tough one to break. I hate seeing people convince themselves that they need to do some fan or thermal paste upgrade and end up killing their device. Such a non issue that cost this kid his console.
Welcome back ❤
Finally we got these consoles again. I was waiting for them.
When you are trying to get connectors up like this and the connector is being replaced you can cut each lead off, then use your soldering iron to push the remainder of the lead off the board with basically no risk.
Good work brother! 🤜🏽🤙🏽
Just a small hint. If you have to use super glue as a sort of mass that needs to dry (besides mating to surfaces), dab a small amount of baking soda on the glue. It solidifies instantly
Another question: how do you know which wire to use? To me, that wire looked too thin for the current and voltage. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’d like to learn.😊
Its a tiny length so the wire can be small, anything that is physically strong enough, also a fan doesn't draw too much power.
$50!!! Dude you're gonna make out on this one. So many people break off the fan connectors, it looks like an easy fix.
I absolutely love these ps4 vids!
Great Job as always !!!
Great video lad keep up with the work
Back to life PS4 👌🙏
I'll brought a White PS4 Pro over here in Japan and the console itself was almost new all i had to do was clean the inside for any dust and apply new Thermal paste
Nice edit at the end 🤣.
When i had the PS4 Pro it sounded like a jet engine. I did the whole cleaning and reapplying thermal paste and to be fair it was whisper quiet for a number of weeks but it didn't take long before the fan noise started to creep up again. I think they're just inherently a dust magnet and I wasn't going to keep stripping it down. I'm glad the PS5 came along and I sold the Pro in the end.
Gotta replace the thermal pads, not just the paste.
Just change processor pad from Xbox. The result will be fantastic.
Two fixes today. Nice one!
Great video bro ❤
It blows my mind still how tech works. So amazing. Also helps me to understand the price of these electronics.
Wish I had the mindset/ patience to learn this stuff
Do you happen to have tutorial video on soldering? Also do you have a video of the soldering set up you use like the brand and what not?
We might be able to finish this and not have any screws left over. Lol I really like Steve's humor. Great video as always.
Awesome video, but with direct dye cooling, you need to cover the entire dye by spreading it , ❤
This guy always runs in God Mode. Awesome channel.
Those small detais like the psu conector are always impressive.
I get the perfect amount of thermal paste gag but, correct me if I am wrong, doesn't direct to die thermal paste NEED to be spread out over the entire surface? its fine to just blob it when there's an integrated heat spreader, but if any of that apu isn't being cooled properly it could be a HUGE problem.
Congratulations
For what?
Thank you
@@crimecity Getting a PS4 Pro for $50.
@@eddiew.4650 Ok thanks 50 is cheap in pounds it is £40.25
I changed the cmos battery on my ps4, was not too bad, apart from the fan power connector which fell apart. But now all working
Awesome Job!! Wish i had your Talents!!
Nice work!
Excellent work..
Steve is an optimist. I would just see ripped pads AAGH !! He sees 2 unripped pads because he's the half full guy.
I just wonder how the cross-soldered legs of the ssd connector should have worked (6:23) 😮
I love this guy's videos
I kind of wish I could have gotten a broken PS4 Pro for this cheap and fixed it this easily, I just barely bought a used base model PS4 a couple weeks ago for $200.
Dude you are awesome!
I just love to see you fix electronic stuff
You could do a lamp and I would still watch the video
Good job Steve. But why did you use glue and didn't reposition the supporting pins?
Dude, your videos are awesomes, but i have a question:
Why you never clean all the old paste from the little chips around the cpu??
I like look at your fight with hardware but we have 2023 y. Use Honeywell PTM7950 for ps4/5 and newer use superglue, on pcb we use only epoxy glue.
I pulled it apart to clean it and check if the antennas were connected to the board.
As someone who first started fixing small electronics in my bedroom in the 1990's, it always blows my mind how badly people butcher things. I just cannot wrap my head around how someone does something like this.
I butchered 2 Sega Saturns last year but at least they were cheap I tried doing the Fram mod, I actually desoldered the old chip fine but misaligned the new chip and ripped the traces when removing the new chip, the 2nd one I tore traces removing the old chip and then misunderstood about soldering to a via and damaged the via so it was irrepairable. but I would never try with a expensive modern device.
probably pulled on the connector and not the cable
You can actually see the 2nd connection from the left moves a bit.
I wish I could solder a hard drive/SSD connector, I have 3 hard drives that the connectors snapped off when removing cables (not with force just flimsy cables) one is a 12tb hard drive so not a cheap one! I went the easy route and just hot glued a angled extension plug on the end
2:12 a good illustration as to just how tiny the connector is 😅
The local repair shop said it’s 50$ to diagnose and around 200$ to replace the wifi/Bluetooth chip.
Ehy you do not make first a big mounting pens from a solder wick that is totally filed with solder ?
What type of solder mask do you use? The stuff you've used in videos seems a lot higher quality than the crap I see on most places. Is it a UV resin???
I see that your Roku tv also calls a PS4 Pro a PS5! I thought it was just mine. Sometimes it gets the consoles right, it's a crap shoot.
balsy to super glue it down before testing!
Nice job! Had a psu issue myself. Didn't rip off the connector but broke the 4 pin cable that goes from the psu to the board and can't for the life of me find somewhere to order the right one. CUH-7015B
Steve, I think there was a solder bridge on the SSD connector you put on. Was I seeing things or did you fix that off camera or what?
Low melt solder would have been awesome at removing that ssd connector. Just anyone having to do this. I use it all the time
Me blowing on the super glue as you applied it 😂😂😂😂😂
I really like Baja Blast
You didn't tell anyone about adding the software for the ps4 to a USB for the first initialization
Hey Steve is there a affordable microscope you can recommend?
"...do your research..."
WOMP WOMP! Okay, that was great.
50$ for controller + broken ps4 ? In our country just the controller costs around 70$. Good deal.
Let’s be honest, we all thought we didn’t have to research at least once, but electronics tend to sober us of that real quick lol.
Hi. I cleaned my ps4 pro internal heat sink but once all put back together there was no life or power up. Any ideas? thanks. Phil
You are the best.
Seeing you on RUclips gave me the idea to buy a soldering station and try to repair like you.
Thank you.
Hi from Ukraine 🇺🇦.
Ifixit is wonderful ive used them for years. Very nice video!
I was trying to clean my psvita the other day, I opened it up and tore the battery connector just like this ps4 😢 I watched the video to see if it is easy to fix but doesn’t look like it. Rip my ps vita
Hello sir! Will this be available on your eBay store to buy eventually?
Steve I tore my power 4 pin cable that connects to the power supply by using tweezers like you suggested when i could have just gently pulled and removed the cable. Thanks for nothing
I've clean my ps5 2x and i never take out the fan or anything thats is connected because I'm scared of breaking a wire and paying more to get it fix.
man you are perfect ❤🤩
When I put it in safe mode it will respond to the controller. But after I leave safe mode it goes to the screen where it asks me to connect the controller with USB and press PS button. Controller light just blinks blue.
Man that white ps4 pro looks good
6:23 that 3rd pin on the left doesnt look so healthy
I have a ps4 that was my brothers who passed. I went to play it . Years later I go to turn on the has lights that show but no screen or anything. What should I do
When they noticed that the fan had a different connector what on earth were they trying to do thinking they can solder it directly to the board without a plug connector is that why the connector was torn off the board surely they noticed the fan ain’t even going to fit in the console 🤦♂️
@TronicsFix, would you happen to fix PS4 Controllers?
