He certainly was for a few years - now he has one leg and no shape to speak of ... worth it ? I’m guessing if he could start over ,the ridiculous amount of steroids would be thrown in the bin and he would never walk into a gym.

No weak points flex had,just amazed to watch,I think 90's was true development of bodybuilding.golden era of bodybuilding,produced so many good bodybuilders in 90's.

king of symmetry and proportions but not an uncrowned Mr.O. The only uncrowned Mr.O's are Victor Martinez and Nasser El Sonbaty (arguably because none of us were there to determine for ourselves, we base our thinking on other people's opinions)

Agree. I've always thought Flex had better proportional physique and actually look, talk & sound normal. Not like Kai Green (short & does arts) or Coleman (just a monster, big muscles at places we've never seen)
Everybody can become a monster when using steroids. The bodybuilding community is so blind for the obvious. It looks good yes, but is it natural Hell no!

Been following Bodybuilding since the 1980s. Flex was the best from all I've seen. There was some who were close but for the overall body! Flex was always number 1.
For ronnie to beat this guy is truly unbelievable
Ronnie was a mass monster. That was it. He had no symmetry, proportion. His chest was bigger than his whole body. Legs are slumpy looking.
Flawless, just flawless, and to think that he never won MR.O just gives you idea of what kind of freaks there were in 90s. .
It's politics, how did Dorian Yates win 1997, Arnold in 1980, Franco in 1981. And don't forget Frank Zane in 1978 when Mike Mentzer was I believe the first bodybuilder to score a perfect score that year and still didn't win, how can that happen without politics

it's definitely up there. My personal favorites are the 2002 Night of Champions as well as 1996 German Grand Prix where everyone looked amazing (Dorian was simply insane)

You accept the fact that your a role model and people will try to duplicate what you and Ronnie mastered in the 90’s. Not one time did I ever see you publicly disclose your personal and private information. I saw an interview with you before your surgery talking about what may have caused it? Did you blame anyone? Did you look for sympathy? HELL no you said,” Did I bring this on myself with the bodybuilding lifestyle and how can I make the best decision now?” I’m happy to see you still here gracing us with words of wisdom that some of us will never ever fathom. El mr olympia es manejado por sus organizadores...flex wheeler ganó otras competencias mas imparciales, donde de le reconoció su importante figura . incluso arnold lo dijo: flex es mejor físico de todos los tiempos.
No entiendo cómo el mr.o le dio años de premios a ronnie y dorian, por ej, siendo que ronnie casi no tenia forma (bestia ) y dorian después abultó su abdomen.

I remember seeing Flex workout at the Family Fitness center in Rowland Heights back in the 90s. I later found out that he actually lived in the area. Anyways, I didn't know who he was at first. There used to be plenty of big guys there. But, he had on his signature weight belt with the word Flex on it. He had on an oversized sweat shirt that hid his physique. But, that is the first and only time I ever saw what "cannonball delts" were. Even through the oversized sweatshirt, he looked like he had volleyballs where his shoulders were. I have seen many famous bodybuilders, including Paul Dillet and Jay Cutler. None of them had that cannonball delt look that Wheeler had.
