I watched Alexi Popyrin using these at the US open, he actually slipped on a crucial point and lost the match. He has been wearing Nike's again since. I remember an Adidas skate shoe in very late 90s with similar sole . It open slightly more aggressively and skate desks are a lot gripier though.
Honestly I’m pretty disappointed in Fila not making basketball shoes. I get they’re a power house in tennis but I would to see what a Fila bball sneaker looks like with modern technology.
fila is currently owned by anta which is actively trying to sell its bb sneakers globally. can see why they might not want to release competing products under fila
Brand loyalty issues. Just see Sketchers and Reebok. Yes these two brands one got into the basketball game and the other came back (and they have shaq and iverson), yet no one seemed to care too much. Only the super hardcore basketball fans that actually care who gets signed or oldheads would go for them but they ain’t cheap nor are they objectively better than other hoop shoes on the market. If fila were to go down the basketball route, they will see the same issues sketchers did unless they go the puma route where they let the signature players (lamelo, scoot) do whatever they want outside the realms of what they would normally do but then the name fila just doesn’t ring compared to puma. Also you have to consider, a brand needs something to make themselves stand out from the rest or a reason to buy them. Under Armour have Curry, Puma have Lamelo, Nike and Adidas are tried and tested and signing for a brand like Jordan or New Balance, you get the whole catalog of shoes to wear from the brand. Chinese brands have a different audience and demographic to appeal for while underrated brand like Asics basketball is extremely popular in markets like Japan and China for their simplistic design that appeal to school use (like schools with strict dress codes). I do not see any of these applying to fila. Like do you want to see any of your favourite players rocking up to a game in a pair of fila disruptors 😂?
I have used these now for a few play sessions strictly for pickleball and I’m definitely not disappointed. They’re actually pretty agile and the extra foam on the sole as you mentioned does leave my feet feeling refreshed after matches with no foot strain or pain. The sound like you mentioned is unique. Reminds me of DJ’s scratching records! 🫣 I have had maybe 1 noticeable play where the sole did not grip as I expected, other than that I have had no issues. The shoe does wrap around the top of the foot and it does feel substantial. I would say it’s on the more “snug” side. I can get plenty tie/cinch down with these and with that extra material as you noted I’ve had to back off a bit on the “pressure” used to tie down as the shoe does wrap the foot pretty well. Plenty of on court compliments on the look of the shoes..everyone’s like “what are those?”!! 🤣
The outsole remind me of classic tennis shoe converse Jack Purcell, it looks smooth, but when you flex it, the rubber is actually cut like a herring bone.
Ik this is off the topic the of the video but I was wondering if you have any basketball shoe recommendations for someone with ankles that kind of go in and are inverted? Super low cut shoes when playing ball hurt my ankles and I think the insole shape affects it as well but I’m not sure .
So appreciate the information you deliver in the reviews ! Have you had the chance to look at the Puma Nitro All Pro yet ? Because I watched your reviews on the Stewies and Melos but not with those yet, hope I dont sound pushy or sth 😅
@@FootDoctorZach haha I've seen other reviews and it sounds very good. Everyone praises the traction a lot The thing I'm most interested in is the cushioning system.
I guess if you really paid attention to using the medial side you could maybe on some planet- I’ve seen some Fila pros do some exo stuff with them on clay but I’d be terrified to
Hey Zach , would u recommend this for a beginner in sliding over the Asis gel resolution 9 ? In the detailed video about the gel resolution 9 , you mentioned something about it for more advanced level sliding players .

@@ricky1206 ah a bit similar to the Reebok and adidas ordeal but at least Reebok sells basketball sneakers from time to time.
@@FootDoctorZach I’m not a tennis guy so I’m just assuming that they are.😅
Zach the hair looking nice!!!
I appreciate you
I’ve actually thought about this since I was a kid. I remember when my shoes’ traction would wear flat, the traction would still be good lol.
Would love to see a breakdown of the Prince Phantom 1! We don’t get a lot of Mids in tennis and I love how they look

Hey there! Just curious. Why don’t you give the durometer ratings anymore?
I do
@@FootDoctorZach Hm.. Ya. You’re right. Idk how I’ve been missing that every time. My bad. Love the videos!
Thank you.
This might be thee most organic on and off court shoes
how are they in bad weather and on the street? Could you run with them for some time?
Hey zach can u test the Adidas bouce legends please? 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Zach, could you do a dedicated video on what you mean by snake bitten foot, ball of foot pain, etc.
Just my term for foot pain

Woah thats cool
I see you’re not playing with the Head Radical. Have you switched to something else, I can’t tell what that one is.
I’m testing some out - you’ll probably see a few frames in the more recent videos
Never Understood Why Everyone Hate On Fila Lol
Also, Would Love To See Kawhi 3 Video! :)
When you were in college, were you a hard court slider?
Not really no- a little bit here and there but not really my thing
I'm guessing these would be terrible on clay or artificial clay? Are they supposed to be an all-court outsole? They look pretty anyway.
I guess if you really paid attention to using the medial side you could maybe on some planet- I’ve seen some Fila pros do some exo stuff with them on clay but I’d be terrified to
Can u tell me which foam’s better, Li Ning Cloud or Light foam
Different strokes for different folks
@@FootDoctorZach is cloud more bouncy? Your point of view ?
Fila has really fallen out of favor. Not sure if I’d ever buy any again. ☹️
It all comes and goes in cycles
lol these are like ice skates ⛸️
Imagine rocking a triple sow cow on them

I don’t know if I’d recommend these over the gr9 for anything tbh
