    The Ames I went to in the mid 80s had a restaurant in it. I miss the 80s.

    Does not make you want to start a business... knowing you can go under anytime... Even if you know what you're doing. It mostly comes down to your reputation... If people talk bad about you, you ain't gonna last long. (Not saying this is what happened to Ames tho..)

      The chain went out of business back in 2002, quite long ago.

    Great Video! I Recently came across Ames from Chuck E. Cheese's in Essex/Baltimore, MD. I Recently Visited the Corporate Offices in Rocky Hill and Plan to Release Video of the Vacant Ames (And one Bradlees) Locations in CT. This shows when the company was still active and It's cool.

    So Ames is the Kmart of the north east?

      Kmart was #1 in the Northeast in the 80s & 90s, Ames was definitely a notch below Kmart in its prime, but it was the largest non-national retailer in the country. New England had Kmart stores since the mid 70s
