Spirit - I Got a Line On You (1968)

A truly classic song by Spirit, written by Randy California, one from the 1968 album The Family That Plays Together. It reached the Top 40 in 1969 and was simultaneously a big
underground FM radio favorite as well. This is my fourth Spirit video, the last one I did three years ago, an instrumental short called "Puesta del Scam" from their 1972 album, Feedback, also that year I did "Mr. Skin," another big hit by the band, from Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus (1971), a video that starred Jayne Mansfield, and four years ago I did my first Spirit video, segueing two songs from side two of Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus, "Space Child" and "When I Touch You."
"I Got A Line On You" was released as a single ahead of the album The Family That Plays Together in the US. in October 1968, and slowly rose up the charts. It was picked up by college radio in late November. The song finally peaked in the US in 1969 at #25 on the Cash Box Top 100 on March 22, the Billboard Hot 100 on March 29, and reached #28 in
Canada on March 24.
