Hi I'm Kathryn!
I am a former soloist with the New York City Ballet and Miami City Ballet. When I was a young student, I was always looking for insights into the ballet world and how to improve my dancing as well as beauty and lifestyle tips. Now that I am a professional, it is my turn to share.
On my channel I make ballet, beauty, and lifestyle videos for everyone of all ages. My goal is help dancers improve and achieve their dreams as well as open up the ballet world to non dancers. Let's bring the joy back to ballet! You will see many different kinds of videos here including ballet classes, workouts, Q and A sessions, life advice, performances, beauty tutorials, technique tips, and more. It so amazing how you both put an importance for adult classes. I hope the rest of the nation in other studios follow your suit. OMG! Ten adult open classes per week!!! That's amazing. Studios around me have 1, or maybe 2 per week, at best. What an amazing resource for adult dancers.

Did you ever think, when you became ill and had to stop ballet for years, that you would come this far? Did you ever imagine that your courageous determination would not only bring you back to performing but would also walk you right in the arms of your dear Chris AND owning your own dance academy together?
I am soooo proud of you and proud for you.
You set an excellent example of not letting life's hard knocks keep you down.
In the words of Rita Mc Neil.
"...and you know the wings you fly will keep you in the sky.
There isn't anyone can keep you down"
Rita Mc Neil was a Canadian song writer and singer from Cape-Breton. She had a difficult life, an amazing voice and a rare talent for writing songs that touched even the hardest of hearts.

The MARLEY FLOORS are great for pirouettes.
I rate this academy world-class, the stadium 🏟 size main studio is great for any 19th century classic staging. It's a winner.
The Joffrey school I think had a 10 class card that when paid in full, you got one free for adults. I have friends who liked that special.

I love that you have lots of adult classes. While a learned a little bit of dance in marching band, I didn't start taking formal dance classes until I was in my 30s. While I'm nowhere near professional, I'm quite proud of the progress I've made.

Your studio is so large and spacious, absolutely love it! I use to live down the street from this shopping center, glad you were able to obtain the space. I remember there use to be a grocery store there, my manicurist was next door. Hope to fly back to OC soon so I can take a class with you. Been watching your videos since the very beginning, glad to be a part of your journey with you.

This is amazing!!!!! I also love how you are helping dancers with body imaging in the rooms. The mirrors on one wall like that really lets someone keep ones mind on ones own technique and skill without checking out ones fellow classmates skills, etc. Thank you for keeping that in mind too! My favorite space was probably the Crown Room - the decor is totally accurate for the little ballet dancers. Or the teens/adults who are really little dancers at heart. 😍

I love everything, but… of course, there is a but, what about dressing rooms? Perhaps I am strange because I studied at Ellis-DuBouley Studio, Ruth Page Studio, and Lou Conte/Hubbard Street Dance Company, but there were always dressing rooms for the students to change in. I also took a class in Paris before you were born, Good Golly Miss Molly, and there was a dressing room. I am pretty sure all of my summer intensives also had dressing rooms.
I know there was one at the San Diego Ballet. I lost a lovely leotard from the one there. I was used to hanging up leotards and tights between morning and afternoon classes, so I wasn't tossing them wet into my dance bag. I don't remember if I forgot it one day or it disappeared the same day (back in 1985), but it was one of my favorites, and it went "poof."

I am blown away about you two laying down the flooring - your poor knees! (mental image of you both wearing those enormous knee protectors that contractors use). You truly have ‘laid the foundations’ for all those dancing feet. ps love the wooden bench in the lobby with the intricate back. Was it made for you? pps there better be handprints with date somewhere in the building! oh yes and finally, I think it is White Lodge Royal Ballet School where the have a bronze of Fonteyn. Everyone touches her finger before they go on ... so her finger is all shiny from years worth of people touching her for luck. I think you should have a similar object so you can have a little tradition of your own ..
