It was always a great joy playing with the Holmes Brothers! I was honored and grateful to have shared a stage with them all those years ago in NYC !! Thanks for sharing this .
The drummer"Poppsy" has one of the coolest voices I ever heard. If you don't have a Holmes Brothers record, do yourself a favor and get one. You will wonder how you ever lived without it.
thank you for your wonderful music, your restorative gifts of faith, hope, and love. every time i hear your song "(what's so funny 'bout) peace, love, and understanding" i smile and cry inside at the same time.
Those three brothers were my friends, just ordinary guys around the clubs on 125th Street and the village but when they took to the stage they entered another dimension. I find it so hard to believe that Wendell and Popsy have gone on to be with the Lord. Sherman I am on FB if you should get this message hit me up. I would like to extend my symphaty Your #1 fan. i saw them live at our local music fest last year, and i gotta say, The Holmes Brothers are the best live act ive seen yet, it was stunning, their voices are just fantastic and the guitar was beautiful, they are the only band that i felt was worthy of me paying a retarded ammount for their album. Im seeing April Wine next week though, so maybe they will be better, doubt it. the Holmes Brothers are amazing.
That's great! "Opportunity To Cry" is one of Willie's most beautiful songs and this version is just brilliant.
