I LOVE THIS SHOW. IT IS INTELLIGENT COMEDY AWESOME SHOW. I MISS THIS INTELLIGENCE TODAY. MR. FRED ALLEN WAS EXCELLENT AS EVERYONE ELSE IS ON THIS GREAT SHOW.
I'm fascinated with Fred Allen. Very intelligent and quick-witted he was. Very much a man of his time too, so some of his material hasn't aged too well. There's one moment on the show that wasn't part of this very good compilation that is one of my favorites: Dorothy: Could we have the definition of a professional man again? Fred: Yes, a man who is employed. 😂
Agreed, @@Lighthammer18 I believe there also needs to be a certain level of intellect to, "get" Fred Allen, which is another reason why he's over the heads of the masses today.
Thank you so much for compiling this!🙏 Fred Allen was hysterical as was Steve Allen. I would love to have seen a conversation with Fred Allen, Steve Allen, and Bennett Cerf. It would have been witty and intelligent.
Fred was my grandfather's first cousin. Sadly, neither he, nor his brother had children, to then have children and give me third cousins along that line. At least we still have his appearances on these programs in the 1950s and his autobiography, Much Ado About Me.
I am forever grateful for RUclips and its dedicated Uploaders without whom wonderful programmes like this would not be enjoyed. For example, What's my Line USA was never shown on UK television.
Alas we don't have a lot of videos of Fred Allen, but everyone seems to have loved him and in these clips it's so easy to see why. He was one really funny man.
“John, can I ask you a question ? “ - great running gag.
He as the best panelist ever! Never pretentious and bad-natured. Always kind and funny.
"jOhN mAy I aSk YoU a QuEsTiOn?"
I love this man

Agree!!
I long for the days of the wit of Fred Allen. We shall not see them again.
0:25 - The moment from his first episode as a panellist that firmly established Fred Allen as one of the true greats of "What's My Line".
Hilarious. This panel show was a perfect vehicle for Fred Allen.
Can I ask you a question, John? Yes, Mr Allen.
😂❤
Fred Allen is hilarious. That he's so deadpan & dry in his delivery has often made me wonder if a lot of people simply don't get his humor.
It took me a while. Gotta get used to that kind of delivery as it's so out of place today.

This is awesome. Can we have one of Bennett Cerf?
Thank you so much for compiling this!🙏

"If words were automobiles, your mouth would be the Lincoln Tunnel?". BOOM!
I just adore Fred Allen, and I totally adore you too Teddy! Thank you!
Very kind of you!
Thank you for this compilation.
One of the funniest men who ever lived.
Fred was phenomenal
Sadly Fred Allen would drop dead from a heart attack on St Patrick's Day 1956 while taking a walk a few blocks and where this is recorded in NYC...
It was recorded in the what is now known as the Brooks Atkinson Theater.
67 years ago today ... yet we're still talking about Fred Allen - he did something right!
“Life of the pahty”! I just learned today that Fred was born and raised in my home state of Massachusetts!
Fred Allen very much part of the panel any time one needs to laugh
What does she have to do with hogs? “Does she raise them?” No. “Does she associate with them?” Excellent.
Fully expected him to ask "Does she lower them?"
4:24 “Do you think aggressiveness is out of place in a midget?” 😅😅
Fred Allens greatest movie is called Its in the bag. Find it here on youtube
Thanks for compiling so many great Fred Allen moments! There was one question that made me cringe, but most of these were classic!
Little people? Yeah
I just adore Fred Allen. I adore him.
Wow. Benny had a lot of material.

The heart and soul of comedy, entertaining them all in heaven, but v much missed down here.
He such a G
I love red Allen. I wish the poster would include the contestant's "line". Makes me wonder what these people did for a living.
Teddy, if I ever get some time, I'm going to find my old ventriloquist dummy ang give him a Fred Allen persona.
Dorothy Kilgallen, seems like yesterday.
Alas we don't have a lot of videos of Fred Allen, but everyone seems to have loved him and in these clips it's so easy to see why. He was one really funny man.
This has to do with how close the two chairs are John & the challenger. Almost shoulder to shoulder.
BRILLIANT♥
So funny• I’m gonna dieeee!
Insensitive comments about midgets and blind people. Times were different. Nonetheless, Fred was hilarious and charming in his own inimitable way.
Yes, now we live in times when every word we say may be led to lawsuits. Glad I am on the way out...
Fred was okay sometimes, but he was rude occasionally.
So was Henry Morgan, but they were often brilliant.
not as rude as Arelene Francis her and husband like Witch and Troll i love it with Fred Allen tease her
