Indeed. Steve and let's not forget Jack Paar... but Steve was the OG. As a kid, I got to watch Steve Allen (both The Tonight Show & the Steve Allen Show) and Jack Paar work their magic, along with Groucho and Ernie Kovaks. Television was exciting. When Johnny Carson ultimately replaced Paar, people wondered who this kid was ... yet Carson proved to be a more than worthy successor. It was great... they were great. Fond memories.
Today, nearly, 60 years later, we now know that the CIA had absolutely nothing to do with her murder, or even the murder JFK - riiight! And, Jeffrey Epstein killed himself! Riiight! And, millions were not killed by a weaponize virus created in a lab! Just ask Dr. Fauci!
You believe everything the media and government tells you don't you? How strangely similar her death, is to Marilyn Monroe's death. They were both murdered, for different reasons though.
I’ve just found your channel via a link to the odd-questions video in a comment on the What’s My Line? channel. Thanks so much for your dedication in curating Dorothy and the others’ intelligence, wit and charm.
And both were also incredibly accomplished for the time. Dorothy was famous nationwide for her journalism work and Arlene had found success both as a stage actress and even a TV show host (parts of episodes from her NBC show, "Home", which focused on new household products and recreational stuff, are actually on RUclips!).
Yes! I was hoping that the nudist colony woman would be one of the top 10 moments. Dorothy's "a-ha" moment was priceless! Not too shabby coming in at the runner up spot. An added bonus: the mystery guest star for that particular episode (aired 6/14/53) was none other than the legendary US Senator Margaret Chase Smith from my home state of Maine. "Small but mighty" state indeed (as Dorothy put it-who correctly guessed who she was).
My favorite Dorothy moment was when she and Arlene wore the big dresses and when she was announced, Dorothy said “I know you’re not applauding me; you’re applauding my courage”. The way she said it was hilarious.
Until I saw Teddy identify the unfamiliar alphabet as Bulgarian, I thought it was Greek. I was going to ask if you might have found Tony Perkins’ address book.
Awesome collection for such a wonderful sharp, versatile person, as Steve Allen pointed out the show after her shocking death, the panel didn't get any of the lines, and the show was indeed never the same without her brilliance. I think they should've taken a week off, don't buy the excuse that Dick said on essence "the show must go on," and it's still shocking to me what happened to her that Monday night after her last show
Great selection ! Nevertheless I would have put the No2 clip as No1 as Dorothy was so cute and adorable .That's the episode that made me fall in love with Dorothy. Pretty , whip smart and so classy. Tbh, the show lost the majority of it's spark when she died.
Yes, because they had someone who made false tails for horses. There are some occupations that are so specific, you cannot think there is someone who does that. And the panel many times was WTF?! (once they had someone who counted fish and Dorothy said "You are joking"!)And at one point they just weren't surprised any more no matter what the occupation is, cause they've seen it enough
Why was Dorothy Kilgallen on "What's My Line?" frequently asking a mystery guest on the show if he or she ever studied dentistry? Did she actually expect a mystery guest to sometimes be a dentist? The poster of this video clip should have titled it, "My Top 10 Dorothy Kilgallen Moments on 'What's My Line?' ". There should be no apostrophe s after the name Kilgallen and the words "my line" should be capitalized.
True, but I think it was a throw-away question, that and the helicopter question. When you're on TV you have to be "on" every second- no "dead air". She was brilliant enough (and regarded very highly) so that when it was time to pass to the next questioner, she was confident enough to just use one of her standard stand-by questions from time to time, rather than making up an insipid quip on the spot the way some panelists trying to be witty would often do. It sounds like it was frequent, but it wasn't. This show ran for many, many years.
I'm thrown for a loop every time I hear Arlene say "Oh, Dorothy" from that last episode. It just shivers me timbers.
Yes!
She is a beautiful woman. Clever, focused and totally feminine.
There's Nothing like family.
Dorthy Was a cutie pie
Kilgallen was one brilliant woman!
I think that is what got her murdered.
Even Groucho had to shake her hand after that slip of the tongue!
When television shows were at their best by far🎉
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dorothy! Thanks for the laughs and the memories!
Amen
Her laugh and her way to get the occupation is great
Dorothy’s father seemed so cute and sweet.
♥ We will always remember your intelligence, your beauty, your humor, but most of all we will always remember your bravery. ♥♥♥
She was quite brilliant. She figured out more 'lines' than anyone. She also figured out who killed Kennedy and lost her life because of knowing.
Because she couldn't keep quiet.
Groucho shaking thier hands after Dorothy’s slip had me
That was so sweet when Ben Gazzara hugged Dorothy when that auctioneer told her that she had already asked her question earlier.
There were talk show hosts and then there’s Steverino! Mr. Steve Allen the gentleman who started it all!

I would have loved meeting her. She's a riot! ❤❤❤
I adore Dorothy Kilgallen.
She was a great lady and one heck of a journalist.
Thank you. She was a brilliant panelist and journalist. And elegant, like Arlene.
Always loved this Show. The best Game Show of all time .
She was so incredible!!!! Truly an amazing wonderful woman
A beautiful and warm-hearted selection! Thank you for putting this together and sharing it with us!
I think Arlene made Dorothy happier.
some of my favourite moments are when arlene makes dorothy scream with laughter
I agree!
And visa versa
I love Dorothy and this entire panel. Back in the day when people were gracious and people weren't so easily offended.
Yes, I have the feeling that nowadays people just wonder what to be offended about
Have a little drink, Dorothy. She did love her cocktails.
Panel were tipsy from time to time hehe
She had the most wholesome laugh 💜 she was taken from us far too young
She looks so beautiful in the segment with the guy who ran the roulette wheel.
A beautiful and classy lady - they were also polite and well dressed too - great compilation thank you
dorothy and arlene's relationship is my favourite thing on the show ❤️
8:18
Its crazy to think that this is only one month before her death
Dorothy is it national Treasure
The show was never the same without her.
So sad to see her so happy with her father on the program knowing that both her father and mother would live years beyond Dorothy's murder.
😢
Today, nearly, 60 years later, we now know that the CIA had absolutely nothing to do with her murder, or even the murder JFK - riiight! And, Jeffrey Epstein killed himself! Riiight! And, millions were not killed by a weaponize virus created in a lab! Just ask Dr. Fauci!
😢
Murder? She died from a combination of alcohol and anti-depressents.
You believe everything the media and government tells you don't you? How strangely similar her death, is to Marilyn Monroe's death. They were both murdered, for different reasons though.
She was soooooooo sweet! One of my favs :)
Sections 5 and 4 are a great collection of Dorothy's off-the-wall questions. Great job on the entire video.
That "Oh Dorothy" killed me 😂😂
I love her expression around 5:23. She just looks completely done with the show 😂
Yes, I love it, too!!! She saw so many jobs that she will not be surprised to anything anymore :D
I love them all. They had such good chemistry. But Dorothy is my favorite.
I got a kick out of these clips... How great... Damn, those days were fun... I remember watching this show as a young kid.
What a pretty lady
The episode with Dorothy and Ernie Kovacs's cigar belongs on this list.
We all loved Dorothy Kilgallen.
Happy birthday to Dorothy Kilgallen
Thank you, that was delightful.
Definitely someone not thinking of killing themself!
'Did you ever push an old lady down the stairs' why is no one talking about that lmao
His first movie Kiss of Death.

Both Arlene and Dorothy are smart and classy women . Also , both are simply gorgeous.
And both were also incredibly accomplished for the time. So bittersweet when Dorothy said “Are you my father?” 💔
Thank you so much!
I wish I can go back in time and meet them.
Yeah, me too
My mom's birthday was July 3rd also.. thanks for the clips
glad you like them
Excellent!
"She managed to get a private interview with Jack Ruby in lock-up
..Dorothy left us much too early!😥 So-Sad!😞
d🤕🇪🇺
She was murdered
@@harlow743 "Agreed..😔
🇪🇺🤕
My favorite Dorothy moment was when she and Arlene wore the big dresses and when she was announced, Dorothy said “I know you’re not applauding me; you’re applauding my courage”. The way she said it was hilarious.
She was sweet.😊
Didn't realize she was a redhead. .RIP
It wasn't her natural color, I don't think
Sadly, she died just a few weeks after the Sean Connery show..
She was beautiful and black and white film didn’t do her justice. She had bright red hair…. And gorgeous.
Best game show ever
Поздравления за вкуса към качествения хумор, Теди. Ясно се забелязва културната пропаст между нивото на общуване тогава и сега.
Аууу, българска реч. Каква приятна изненада! Иначе благодаря!
Until I saw Teddy identify the unfamiliar alphabet as Bulgarian, I thought it was Greek.
I was going to ask if you might have found Tony Perkins’ address book.
After 1 question to guest Dorothy guesses......are you a pogo stick repairman.?
Ding ding ding ding ding right!!!!!-
Arlene was a woman decades ahead of her time!
Awesome collection for such a wonderful sharp, versatile person, as Steve Allen pointed out the show after her shocking death, the panel didn't get any of the lines, and the show was indeed never the same without her brilliance. What a doll!❤️
The way she let her hair in 15 years
Didn't realize they could get a little vulgar . For the most it was a clean show compared to things you see today.
That was so cute. “Are you my father?”
@@leannsherman6723 one of the most touching moments indeed
WOW
she was comely
Teddy, do you know what Dororhy is talking about when she says it's not anything like an artificial tail is it? Don't laugh, we've had one once.
Why did she have to die? She was so perfect.
Ask her murderers And Bc she knew too much and was about to talk.
She was very angry with her husband for giving information to a census taker without her being there.
RIP
💖
Dorothy was truly amazing! She got to close to the truth about the JFK assasination and ended up in a bizaare death.
A Marilyn Monroe type of death .She must have been real close to the Truth of the assassination.
Dorothy's reaction when she realizes that the guest makes bread boxes: ruclips.net/video/-q9tXR7jmL8/видео.html .
Tony Perkins lost his address book.
What episode was whe they sang happy birthday? And who was the man who kissed dorothy and what episode was it ?
both eps are on 3rd July, her birthday, but don't remember the years. Maybe 1953 and early 60s. Tony Randall kissed her
@@teddytodorova thank you.
Today is her 110th birthday !
Great gal Dorothy. Had a long time affair with singer Johnnie Ray.

She was expecting the baseball player Casey Stengel who obviously studied dentistry
True, but I think it was a throw-away question, that and the helicopter question. When you're on TV you have to be "on" every second- no "dead air". I knew where they had a person at one time be a dentist and no one knew and she meant it as a throw away question from then on
Steve Allen was the best.
Are Miss Kilgallen's kids still alive?
I think yes
