I've been using my original Aeropress for nearly 20 years. It is super easy cleanup and perfect brew for me every time (I like a bold brew). If you don't want the plastic they have a super deluxe glass and stainless steel version coming soon but it's $150. I'm tempted 😊
Of your methods I would choose the pour over. But our preferred method for the past 10 years in the rv is an AeroPress. You can boil the water on the stove or kettle. You can grind the beans with a small burr grinder. We carry a small electric one as well as a hand grinder with ceramic burrs. It does not get any better for us.
Like so many others we use an Aeropress which, combined with a hand-operated burr grinder, provides the perfect fresh coffee with very little energy consumption and easy cleanup
Lots of other comments mentioned the Aeropress, and I'll add my vote for that too; that's what we use (along with an electric jug and coffee grinder). Very easy, minimal cleanup.
I love your options but you left out what I believe is the best option for off grid coffee making. The Aeropress can't be beat! It requires almost no water to clean up and makes a fabulous cup of hot coffee. We have gone through many types of coffee makers and most have broken or been difficult to clean. We now have 2 of the Aeropress coffee makers so we can both enjoy of morning cup together.
Nice video. I do exactly as I do at home, brew a full pot (8 cups), turn off maker as soon as done brewing, then save in Mason jars for next days and reheat in microwave (2 minutes). Typically get 4 days out of that pot and day 4 is just as fresh as brew day.
For those living full time in their RV, and liking coffee "the way it should be made" 🙂 (Italian espresso style), you could also have mentioned automatic coffee machines with embedded grinder. You won't get a better coffee while avoiding unnecessary plastic wastes of disposable cups, you buy bags of whole beans at a much cheaper price, and you adjust the grinder to your liking. We've had our Krups 8100 series for almost 6 years now, 3.5 years in the RV. Never leaves the countertop, next to the sink.
Only one method here produces pressure-brewed espresso with real crema. Not even the (missing) Aeropress does that. Not talking foam, like the Aeropress makes with its hand-pressure. Real crema only comes with the Outin device, and its true pressure system. If you want a real Americano like I do, go with Outin or one of the many other makes of this kind.
I make coffee in my RV the same way I made it during Reforger exercise in West Germany when out in the field. Instant coffee plus boiling water plus sugar plus creamer plus mocha of your choice. Prefer thick ceramic mug to hold the heat of hot water and half-n-half for creamer. Not complicated. Kroger has Simple Truth organic instant. Easy, tastes good.
I have a folding stainless pour over that sits on my cup. Looking to add the aeropress for afternoon espresso. I also always have alpine start instant coffee on hand, it’s a very decent instant cup.
My mom was a big perked coffee drinker. And I mean she drank a LOT of coffee. I've only seen some people when I was in the Navy drink more coffee than she did (minus the constant stream of vulgarities). I don't drink much coffee anymore but when I did I liked drip or french press. I had a small espresso maker/frother that I liked a lot but it took a bunch of clean up. But it made some stellar cups of snooty coffee drinks (expect a learning curve).
We started off using an Aeropress but have since switched to Starbucks Via Instant. They also have a latte version if you like milk and sugar in your coffee but you are away from the RV on a hike.
You can use the tea bag type pods in a french press also and it cuts cleanup way down, also they make strainer bags for your own ground coffee for the french press. Hopefully this will save you some frustration :)
I'm a Keurig guy, mostly for the convenience and I usually only can have one cup in the morning. Electric is always first choice, but I did buy a Presto 02835 MyJo® Single Cup Coffee Maker ($22) for making coffee from K-cups without electricity. Works very well when you don't have electricity.
You can have drip coffee if you no electricity but have a camping stove: the Coleman camping coffee maker. You can have real espressos without electricity but can boil some water: Flair espresso makers.
We have a Keurig for regular daily use but when we don't have shore power I use a MyJo. Just add hot water and use your everyday k-cups. Almost zero clean up needed.
I have the Moka pot. Like you, no one else drinks coffee in my family. I went with it for space savings and to consume propane instead of electricity for coffee.
Great video. Like you, I'm the only drinking coffee. For RVing I've used all of those in your video except the Expresso maker. Finally settled on Mr. Coffee 5 cup/25oz drip model BVMC-PC05BL1; 120 VAC/60Hz; 650 watt. I bought a Jackery 1000 so I can make a small pot of coffee whether hooked up to shore power or NOT. We can use the Jackery to power my wife's Ninja 750 watts smoothie maker for her breakfast too.
Just wanted to say you provide great content. Good usable info that is easy to understand. I look forward to watch your new videos as you release them. Thanks sir.
I'm the only coffee drinker also. I use the coffee buddy. Sits on the cup with mesh to hold the grounds and pour over, brew to your taste. I use the electric kettle to make hot water or flame for boon docking. Minimal clean up.
I have a single cup drip coffee maker that doesn't take up much counter space. I have a 1500-watt power bank with an 80 AH battery to power my electric appliances when I am boondocking.
What I found really interesting is the information about watts and watt hours. There is not much info. on that. You made it very clear. My new 2000watt power bank with2043 watt hours has been my question for how long until it needs charging. Please make a video that reviews RV appliances comparing their electric use capacities. And how low in battery power can a lithium battery go and be healthy. A video for newbies trying to camp overland and off grid, i.e. cracker barrel or Harvest Host.
I like the single serve pour over, think I will order that. We have a small Keurig that we usually use, and we have the old camp percolator. I have had that percolator for over 40 years of camping, and it still gets used when we camp without power.
Ooh, ooh--could you do a video about making coffee but grinding your own on the road? We like to bring beans with us but when we are boondocking we have to use a hand grinder, but the grinder we have is hard to use over a couple of cups' worth, so looking at choices would be great. Love this video--thanks so much for doing it, and I hope you had lots of fun with the different products!
Power available or sunny days, it’s the Kuerig single use as its compact. No power… it’s percolator but man the restricted gas takes it’s a long time to reach boil. Then there is the easiest way, cold coffee cans such as Black Rifle’s canned espresso’s.
I’m a drip girl, 4-cup (small) coffee maker with filtered water. After brewing, decant into a Stanley and it’s hot for as long as I need it. I’m on the fence for a crowd because that’s a 20% use case. I do love a percolator and used one at home for years because it brews the best tasting coffee, but the clean-up is awful.
Yeah but if you have a Bluetti AC200L in your RV connected to a couple of Solar panels being out of power is extremely difficult! I have one powering my RV it discharges to 60% during the night and recharges back to 100% by 9am, my 65”tv, WiFi run 24/7…

An Aeropress really should have been part of this comparison. Initial cost, compactness, energy, cleanup, it’s competitive in every category.
Not including the AeroPress in this video was a pretty big miss! It is the only way we make coffee in our RV.
Agreed. Our method too. A lot of people just don’t know about it.
Massive swing and a miss.😀
Aeropress is our go to when off grid. I use propane to heat water. Easy clean up.
I use every day at home, not just for Travel.
I was coming here to say the same. Been using mine for a few years now and love it.
i like using the aeropress - am surprised it was not mentioned
Aero press is great , great taste !!

Yep aero press all the way

Starbucks Via is my RV choice
Starbucks Via is the easiest, quickest coffee to go, and I think the taste is great. Nothing else comes close.
I love your options but you left out what I believe is the best option for off grid coffee making. The Aeropress can't be beat! Adding my vote for the Aero press. It’s fast with easy clean up, and it makes super strong coffee. It’s my choice at home and on the road.

👍🏼
I'm in the instant coffee camp also. Tasters Choice dark roast is very good.
I would enjoy you doing the same reviews for making tea.
We have an aero press on our boat, one for the rv and one for the rv. We can make it cold or hot. We also use a solar water heater by patriot.
Wait....did I miss cold brew? 8-10 hours on the counter, room temp water, and, I use, a french press.
How do I forget that. That would have been a good one.
I have a folding stainless pour over that sits on my cup. Looking to add the aeropress for afternoon espresso. I also always have alpine start instant coffee on hand, it’s a very decent instant cup.

A batch of cold brew(made with Toddy, stored in fridge) and FF carbmaster milk. Only mess is the cup I drink out of. Great cold or hot.
You can use the tea bag type pods in a french press also and it cuts cleanup way down, also they make strainer bags for your own ground coffee for the french press. Hopefully this will save you some frustration :)

Love my Folgers coffee bags!
I use K cups from San Francisco Bay because the coffee is really good and there is less garbage. Also, the used coffee pods are compostable.

I loved my MYJO.....hot water and cup and your cup
size also matters, if you want to make a big thermos to last, you need drip coffee or a percolator
Keurig but the mini, so smaller footprint/storage than yours. 1500w during the heat cycle for 2 or 3 minutes.
I use all of those for emergency use. Boondocking - a 3000w inverter and my Jura works great
I’m doing the pour over as well! That espresso maker is fancy!

I use cold brew on camping trips… no heating needed… and nice an cool on a summer morning…
We have a 5 cup Mr Coffee drip coffee maker. Draws about 350w and perfect amount of coffee for both of us in the morning.
Power available or sunny days, it’s the Kuerig single use as its compact. No power… it’s percolator but man the restricted gas takes it’s a long time to reach boil. Then there is the easiest way, cold coffee cans such as Black Rifle’s canned espresso’s.
I like the keurig it’s easy to use and you get the same cup of coffee every time!
Aaaah the one cup Keurig is our go too.
Need to consider the Aeropress!
Great episode!! Thanks so much for the side by side discussion. Super-helpful. ❤
MYJO for the win. Easier than an aeropress.
No problems with keurig coffee maker when you have a 5500 onan generator.
You missed the AeroPress.
I should have included it since it’s similar to the French press but different enough.
Learn so much from your videos ❤❤❤❤❤
It would be nice to have comparison table at the end of video, thanks.
Noted! Good idea. That would be helpful
Love my perc

Great info! Where do you get your awesome hats from?
Innovative video - thanks!
Javy or instant coffee. 😊
Thanks god bless

Comparing WH for 8 cups of drip to 1 cup of Keurig?
Learn to enjoy ice coffee and buy Starbucks by the quart. Pre roasted, splash of creamer, done.
Yeah but if you have a Bluetti AC200L in your RV connected to a couple of Solar panels being out of power is extremely difficult! I have one powering my RV it discharges to 60% during the night and recharges back to 100% by 9am, my 65”tv, WiFi run 24/7…
Yes solar makes power options much better. We have a Victron Setup with solar.
wow, coffee tea bags about 2 bucks a cup? most expensive one
Been using a French press for decades. Too easy.
Lots of people believe you should not was your coffee making device every time you use it.
👍👍🏝
What happened to your intro at the beginning of the videos? I noticed the last few didn't have your traditional self-intro.
Trying to get to the info as quick as I can. I might have to bring them back. They are fun to make
Big Fail by not including AeroPress
Bro you can get really nice espresso machine for 150$ and it will make best coffee thsn any of this gadgets u have. Technology went far now for cheap.
Good tip.
This is all way to complicated, especially for travel. I just use coffee bags. Way simpler and only the coffee cup to clean when done,
Gizmos and gadgets, all end up in a landfill. Buy less and simplify.
Coffee people are so fussy.
I use a French press
👍🏼
What about us tea drinkers????
