Matt, you and your friends have managed to tap into that RUclips phenomenon that's not done well by many other RUclipsrs - you can goof off playing video games and doing wild weird and whacky stuff and it doesn't come off as forced or acted, it comes off as people enjoying themselves and sharing that enjoyment with the world. and people are using the "but competition" excuse for all this. all these companies are doing is basically just paying devs to not make money somewhere else. its not good competition in my opinion
Never heard anyone complain over Spiderman being an exclusive.
Discord and Epic are trying to get market share from Steam, and the quickest way to do that when competing with a company that's had large control of a a market for years is to get exclusives.
Even if you get features that beat Steam, users won't want to split their libraries across storefronts, both for convenience and for loyalty/habit. The only way without exclusives to get a userbase quickly is discounts, and devs/publishers choose the sale price, not the storefront, so that's a no go.
