While I agree I wanted it to continue, it really had reached it's end. As Alan Alda and Mike Farrell said, there was little left they could do to have anymore growth. They had done such an amazing job with ALL the characters, Klinger, Radar, Father Mulchahy, Hawkeye, Margaret, B.J., and old Chuck Winchester...lol. Everyone got a chance to shine, and SHINE THEY DID!!!!! BEAUTIFULLY!! Ahh Klinger the HARIEST BROAD EVER, who went from bumbling boob clerk to a whiz bang clerk. Truly, and that it's still so popular is telling. I was a kid when this ran, I didn't get the humour at the time, but I sure do now. I've watched it over and over for years.
Will always be one of the best shown ever made. They got it right, the feel, the pain, hurt, love, brilliant show. Don't know how many times I have seen Henrys death episode but still howl my eyes out. Yes it is acting but it is so real. Love it.

I loved them all. They all were exactly perfect for their characters. Even those that left. From the psych doc no one ever reviews to the side characters to precious Father M. as shown in This vid. Mr. Preece, your comment really hit home. When M*A*S*H first began in the early 70's I was a little boy. I started watching M*A*S*H as a teen. My Mom was diagnosed with emphysema. For years she slowly got sicker and sicker. The last four years she was bedridden. We used to watch movies, I'd go to the video store and rent a stack of movies. Also we watched M*A*S*H. The news @ 10pm, M*A*S*H @10:30pm, and the Odd Couple @ 11pm. During that time she ended up on a respirator 3 times. The last time was the end. It ripped me apart. Then 6 months later my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. I went to a dark place. Life was such a harsh pain. I like you again HATED death. This show became a major part of my turn around. By that I mean I had bought the season sets and when I got depressed I'd watch Henry Blake dump soot in his face, or see Klinger pregnant. They made a comedy, but they NEVER EVER forgot to show the pain and misery death is and causes. They respected life. And they respected their audience. M*A*S*H is still my favorite show, my goto 📺TV📺show. I found a box set about 7 years ago. It wasn't cheap. About $150.00. But it has the original movie, the entire uncut series, the finale, and both reunion shows. Also a clipboard and a book. Right now I'm on season 10, my second binge this year. It always gives me a smile. Irony as they say is not lost. I was diagnosed with the same illness my Mother had. So I've been watching a bit more lately. God Bless you.🙏 I am sorry for your loss. People said to me, you knew your Mom was sick, so it had to be easier. NO death is NEVER easy. Stay strong and know she's always with you and watches over you everyday. Take care!
The greatest show ever on TV. I have every episode including the pilot, the finale, every one in between, and even the original movie. Til this day I watch them every night while either my wife are cooking dinner.
How rare to see a local show like this about a phenomenon like M*A*S*H. So lovely to see all the remaining members then and hear them talk about their unique experience. Thank you so much for posting this!
I remember watching MASH with my dad when I was a little boy, I didn't get most of the jokes, but I've never saw my dad laugh so much back in those days. I'll still watch it when it comes on. Life long fan.
My Dad was in Korea & he had an album of his army buddies & the locals he was friends with there. He played the records he brought back home @ night on the hifi. MASH used to crack him up & sometimes made him cry. He never talked about his time there but I think the show helped him heal.
Filmul pe care il urmaresc de 40 de ani.Prima data am urmarit serialul pe tv apoi de pe casete.Aproape in fiecare zi urmaresc 1 sau 2 episoade.
Another of my favorite characters on the show was "Kelly." She was there from the beginning but wasn't given any speaking parts until I will into the first season. She was a beautiful person.
You're probably thinking of Nurse Kellye, played by Kellye Nakahara. She got some speaking parts as the show went on, plus she did get "featured" as part of the plot in the opening episode of the final season.
I forgotten how many times I've seen the whole series. I still get emotionally stirred(laughing or crying) like I've seen each and every episode for the first time, everytime.
Comment Freely he was already 29 years old when show debuted in 1972 and when left after filming season 7 as a regular and 2 part episode in season 8 he was 36-37 years old playing a character out of high school.
Comment Freely that’s the point he was playing a farm kid from Iowa in a show taking place during the 3 years Korean War went on although the show went on 11 years and Gary Burghoff left in 7th season and came back to film 2 part episode arc of Radar leaving the Mash unit to go home.
Met Gary at a Grand Opening for the Heart Center at our Hospital. He was doing Autographs and signing little teddy bears for kids..We have a little signed Bear and I had the Season 8 DVD cover (His last Season) He is a Great Person..just as friendly in real life as his character..He took so much time to talk with people..pose for pics with Korean War Veterans Etc..
I grew up with the show... As a young teen I had a fondness for Loretta. I enjoyed the show and still do. The characters are very memorable and lovable.
This show was my favorite as kid and as an adult. It got me through some tough times as a kid. I continue to watch it in my bad times as an adult. It helps me to remember my life could be worse. It also makes me laugh and laughing is good for the soul.
MASH WAS PERFECTION OF HEART SPIRIT AND AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL ❤️!!! AMAZING PEOPLE LOVE EVERYTHING IT STOOD FOR & HOW MUCH THEY TOUCHED SOO MANY EVEN TO THIS DAY 💞🌹!!!
when MASH first aired I was a teenager where my dad was station in the Air Force and it was the middle of the Vietnam war and yea dad was against watching it but I convinced him he loved it as my dad also went thru the Korean conflict so he knew of that as well. but he saw the comedy side of it as well. and it been my favorite show ever since. my dad is gone now may he RIP
My father, God rest his soul, was in the Korean War. When this show aired in the 1970's, he and I watched M*A*S*H* religiously!!!! Fond memories upon hearing the opening song, "Suicide is Painless", brings tears of joy as well as sadness. Thank you for such lovely memories!
My father is deceased as well. May both our fathers Rest in Peace. My dad was in basic when the Korean War hostilities ended. He liked M*A*S*H, esp. Jamie Farr as Klinger. He remembered Jamie Farr from other shows as well, like The Dick Van Dyke Show. I think dad felt a special connection to Jamie Farr because Mr. Farr is from Ohio, just like he was (dad was from Cincinnati, whereas Mr. Farr is from Toledo, same as Klinger). Dad also connected with the overall message of M*A*S*H.
Here come the water works.. They all played a huge contributiton to the series success. whenever i hear Alans voice these days i cant help but hold on to whats left.
Mash was ahead of it's time and here, in 2019, I love it. My very favorite show in life. I am old enough to have actually watched it in real time. I was young but I got alllll the jokes. Witty, biting, sarcastic and just BRILLIANT. I cried as I watch the end and I think the ending was not necessarily what I would have wanted, but a touching episode nonetheless. I will take MASH to my grave and, I will still be watching.😔
It is in my most humble opinion that this was the greatest show ever on TV, M.A.S.H. had it all, it made you laugh, it made you cry, it made you feel and it made you think. I will always love and miss it and so to the entire cast & crew thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Every actor was a true GEM, but I really admired the character of Klinger. Every actor was perfect for their part. I even hated Frank and Winchester, but only GREAT actors can make you do that. They were all great.
I go through the episodes every year, and they still remain fresh. There was always a period of adjustment when someone left the show, but each new cast member fit in like a glove. That said a lot about each new actor, but it said more about the other cast members who obviously wanted the new actor to succeed, so the show could be the best it could be. I don't know if a new show would be able to pull that off again, because times have changed and MASH was fortunate enough to have great chemistry among the actors and also some of the best writers in TV history. The setting of the show (war) gave them the option to be hilarious, or very serious about just how ugly war really is. What an incredible range of emotions, and it was always a good balance.
Think Civil : it was really nice to see that the new cast members fit in so well with the regulars. I became a big fan of Mike Farrell who played B.J. The actor brought so much to his role. Also really liked Harry Morgan as Potter, he portrayed a tough seasoned career military man who could be humorous with the best of them. It was great that I could watch re-runs as my working the 3pm -11:30pm shifts as a hospital RN had me missing these episodes frequently.
I still chuckle at the on the fly promotion of Radar to Corporal Captain. The modern humor just doesn’t seem to measure up these days and most comedy ideas have ALREADY been written and performed occasionally someone will dust off an old skit with a DIFFERENT twist. I own M*A*S*H on DVD no need to have BluRay Thanx for the episode length reminder 😀👍🏻
love this show, i watched it since i was about 4 yrs old and i still do. Its so funny , relaxing and i feel so part of it.They dont make shows like this anymore , New generation has no taste . sad
I have to say this....M*A*S*H was the best written, best performed, and had the most emotional swings of ANY SHOW EVER. It ran the spectrum of emotion. From comedic hi-jinxs to pranks, to extreme drama, and scenes that would break your heart or fill your heart with HOPE. Every actor was given the spotlight, every actor was given a chance to shine and EVERYONE OF THEM DID. The cast was the BEST group ever assembled. Even with the loss of characters throughout the run, they NEVER missed a beat. The departure of Henry Blake was one of those episodes that I spoke of. It was HILARIOUS. From the going away party......Henry took some bark off old number 2. To the troops saying goodbye, Klinger's "dress" was EPIC. Then the end, where Radar comes in and tells the team that Col. Blake's plane was shot down over the sea of Japan, it spun in, there were no survivors. You could see the raw emotion of EVERY ACTOR.I cried like a baby when I saw that. Those episodes originally aired when I was 2 or 3. The reruns gave me a chance to see this amazing show. Now I bought the DVD box set and I can re-live EVERY EPISODE, THE ENTIRE EPISODE. Binge watching M*A*S*H has become a HUGE TREAT. M*A*S*H truly is the greatest show ever made. PERIOD. THE END.!!
I want to thank the cast, the crew and their families for making this show possible. I also believe that the writers must have slept with a tablet next to their beds to capture those fabulous lines; this show truly twisted the English language on various occasions and put all the same types of words together. (Harry Carry, cash n carry, carry on, carry over, Cary Grant, etc. or "Get your business out of my nose".)
It was All in the Family, MASH, MTM, Newhart then Carol Burnett. I know. In '73 I was a newlywed and rather than go out we'd either go to friends or friends would come over to watch Saturday night on CBS. At 10 we'd finally go out.
I always found Jamie Farr interesting. He volunteered for service in the military who was honorably discharged, yet he played a draftee who wanted a section 8 discharge. That had to be a switch for him. But Father Mulcahey was always my favorite character. And no one could have played him better than William Christopher. He really played it beautifully.
My whole family gathered around the TV when MASH first aired on TV. We loved the show. We all cried - my mum, my dad, my brothers - when Henry was killed in a chopper crash on his way home (I still get choked up about it when I watch this episode on DVD). Hawkeye, Sherman Potter, Radar, BJ, Clinger, Trapper, Father Mulcahy, poor Henry, and Majors Hoolihan ... were all such real and likeable characters. Majors Burns and Winchester, Colonel Flag, Sid Freeman, etc were also terrific characters and so very well played. It felt like they were all part of our family. My favourite episode ... so hard to say, so many were brilliant. My top 2 off the top of my head were (1) when Haweye crashed the peace talks to try and stop the war and (2) when they organised a gathering / party for their family back home so they could all meet.
When I was a kid/teen when ever I heard the Mash theme song. I quickly changed the channel. As an adult. I gave the show a chance in 2018. OMG I love the show and the theme song lol
What makes MASH so touching is that these people are real people reacting in real ways during a dark and sad time. by the way i have seen the movie that series is based on and am still looking for the book the movie is baded off of.
I'm in my early 40s. I never watched Mash when it was on, reruns, until I came upon an episode about 6 months ago. I finally gave it a try. I fell in love. Now I know what all the talk was about. What a wonderful show. The respect they showed to soldiers what they went through, the tragedy, the humanity, the humor. The brilliance or the writers, unbelievable talent of the actors. This is the show that will stand the test of time.
Always loved the swamp.....when I was in the Navy our in our swamp....we smoked pot....ate hash....did all sorts of psychedelics...played the Dead .......half the base would go to concerts at Hampton Roads Coliseum......71-73.....shore patrol was always trying to bust us after the show......wonderful memories.....
I was a kid when I watched MASH in the 70's and early 80's on Dutch Television, I can't remember the exact Day of the week when it was broadcasted.. By the Time the series ended the last episode was never shown. I only got to see it when I got the series on DVD in the 90's I still watch MASH, sometimes an episode or 2 to pick up memories and to remind me how human people can be in the worst situations they face, and how much I learned from it. The humour, that was my thing, also recognising myself in first hawkeye and later Charles Emerson Winchester the Third, especially both. The best medicine ever invented when I have a bad Day.. I think for a lot of people around the World this is the legacy they gave us, a 25 Minute moment.. Good to see the series stays alive! After all these Years this series still grows on you, so much to learn and to laugh about.. To young people I got only one message, watch the series.
I never wanted MASH to end .. I still watch it today and it still makes me laugh..

@@DinoHF79 I hope MASH did make your dad work through he's feelings as he remembered his tour in Korea. I thank your dad for defending our country.
What a fantastic show, cast, and crew.
Filmul pe care il urmaresc de 40 de ani.Prima data am urmarit serialul pe tv apoi de pe casete.Aproape in fiecare zi urmaresc 1 sau 2 episoade.
Neamt
Multumesc mult pentru asa film, multumesc actorilor....rad permanent chiar daca il vad fff des
I liked her well enough once she was fleshed out, but before that, she was mostly a stirrer XD yelling in the background
Sadly she recently passed away. Nurse Kelleye ALWAYS had a smile. She was another GREAT ADDITION to the cast.
I forgotten how many times I've seen the whole series. I still get emotionally stirred(laughing or crying) like I've seen each and every episode for the first time, everytime.
I love M.A.S.H, my favourite show, wonderful actors. Greetings from Europe
THANK YOU! for all the wonderful work you´ve done and the laughter and tears you gave me through all the episodes!
I watched all MASH seasons 5 times, I never get tired of it.
I absolutely LOVE that Farr has the fuzzy pink slippers at his house. That's awesome.
seeing Radar as an old man makes reality closer. He was older than me, but still treated as a kid on the show.
He was doing Autographs and signing little teddy bears for kids..We have a little signed Bear and I had the Season 8 DVD cover (His last Season) He is a Great Person..just as friendly in real life as his character..He took so much time to talk with people..pose for pics with Korean War Veterans Etc..
he still looks and sounds like a kid here. Like he's putting on an act with the suit and the hair and beard.
Have every episode on DVD. Watch one or two episodes EVERY evening before bed. Favorite show of all time!
loved from day one, the original mash movie was awesome as well..
I actually live in Toledo Ohio!!!!!!
I've always wised I could somehow run into him! 😄
The 70's and the 80's remains the best time period thus far for mankind. It is my honor living through that period.
Still the most watched TV final episode ever. 105 MILLION ( ! ) people tuned in on Feb. 28,1983. Such a great series.
At any moment a person can sit down and watch an episode of M. A. S. H. and feel like they haven't wasted their time.
I grew up watching this show and now I watch M*A*S*H any chance I can get. I also have all the seasons on DVD. It is the best TV show ever aired.
Saturday nights were great. Our family watched every show Jamie Farr spoke of.
Hawk if you only knew how you have molded
my character. My goofball jokes draw from you.
I still chuckle at the on the fly promotion of Radar to Corporal Captain. The modern humor just doesn’t seem to measure up these days and most comedy ideas have ALREADY been written and performed occasionally someone will dust off an old skit with a DIFFERENT twist. I own M*A*S*H on DVD no need to have BluRay
Thanx for the episode length reminder 😀👍🏻
I watched Goodbye, Farewell and Amen an hous ago❤️ i love MASH, and they have inspired me to become a US marine after i’m done with High School🇺🇸❤️
I cry every time I see those episodes!
Thank you so much for this, it was like a family reunion for even just us viewers and fans! Loved it!
love this show, i watched it since i was about 4 yrs old and i still do.
Its so funny , relaxing and i feel so part of it.They dont make shows like this anymore , New generation has no taste . sad
in deed!!!
That's about the time I was watching it. Maybe 6
They certainly don't, love Island really just not interesting. Will not be around for as long as M*A*S*H thank goodness
Comes on here in Nashville Sun. - Fri. Two episodes every night. Thank you MeTV! I'm 63 and still love this show.
PERIOD. THE END.!!
Thanks for posting, Kevin. This most beloved jewel of television has no equal.
1983 is a bitter sweet year for me. I watched the end of MASH, the end of Star Wars, and then the Army moved us all to Germany.
And then you started watching
Hogan's Heroes reruns. Lol
Best finale of a TV series of all time
I want to thank the cast, the crew and their families for making this show possible.
I still watch Mash mon_Friday. It is still Awsome!
I used to wAtch Mash on tv 38 in Boston as a kid 53 I still watch it on Tv land it’s the greatest show ever what a talented cast
You are my beloved family .... you hold the magic of heart and reality ..
I grew up hating MASH... I went to war in Iraq and years later decide to watch MASH again... Phenomenal.
When I was a kid/teen when ever I heard the Mash theme song. I quickly changed the channel.
As an adult. I gave the show a chance in 2018. OMG I love the show and the theme song lol
M*A*S*H the best show ever made.
On my bucket list is a trip to the Ranch.
Klinger character was hilarious.
BEST SHOW EVER, BLESS ALL OF YOU
I was a kid when I watched MASH in the 70's and early 80's on Dutch Television, I can't remember the exact Day of the week when it was broadcasted..
By the Time the series ended the last episode was never shown. I only got to see it when I got the series on DVD in the 90's
I still watch MASH, sometimes an episode or 2 to pick up memories and to remind me how human people can be in the worst situations they face, and how much I learned from it.
