When I was ten years old I met Haystacks Calhoun at Maple Leaf Gardens. He towered over me like a building. He shook my hand or rather he took my hand and engulfed it. He was the biggest person I had ever seen and he is still the biggest person I've ever met. It was almost fifty years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday.
Thank you for uploading. When I was younger I would always watch Superstars of Wrestling. Got to the TV late when this episode was on, so I never saw this part. I tuned in late when Milt Avruskin was doing the solo commentary. He said that George Cannon had been taken to the hospital after Haystack Calhoun came down with a knee instead of a splash. I can't believe that after 36 years I am finally seeing this part of the episode. Thanks so much.
You're kindly welcome! I wish I had the part you describe with Avruskin talking about Cannon going to the hospital. Do you recall what other wrestlers and/or matches you saw on this episode? Please check out some of the other Superstars matches/shows I've posted. Hope they rekindle some great memories for you as this one did!
I don't recall other wrestlers or matches from that episode, but I do recall some of the lead up to that feud. In a post match interview on an earlier episode, Calhoun told Cannon that he only wins matches because he just wrestles the little guys, I think Calhoun said something like you just wrestle the "little bitty guys". Calhoun also argued with Cannon over who was the first of the two to use the Big Splash. Calhoun said he was first, but Cannon responded by saying that when Calhoun first used the move he called it the Pancake, not the Big Splash. I will definitely check out the other videos.

I also remember much earlier Crybaby Cannon matches where when he got hit he would just start crying in the middle of the ring. So silly but so much fun. Lol.

It is Canada cannons home. The wrestled in the 50s 60s and 70s with haystacks as face and cannon as heel now they are continuing their rivalry in cannons home country with the roles reversed.
It looks like Haystacks really gave it to Crybaby pretty good, and gave him more than he bargained for. I never knew Haystacks could dish out that kind of ruthless punishment to a defenseless man! This was a classic beat down!

Haystacks never lifted weights but he lifted cows and horses and 2 to 300 lb Haystacks. Haystacks Calhoun as a heel?. I know he didn't stay a heel for long. He always loved the cheers from the fans all over the world.
Me too,good old Channel 62.
