- We're not running horses right now, so we've decided to turn this area into a yard. We've got brush and 4-5' tall grass to deal with. Plus, I want to clean up the tree rows a little bit. The swisher Brush King is the right tool for the job!

A guy sitting here watching another guy cut his grass when a guy needs to cut his own grass. Makes a guy wonder what he is doing with his life
Was just thinkin the same thing
Just doing the best you can fellers with the cards you've been dealt.
Don’t know about you, but a guy could be dreaming about having flat land and expensive tools.
Sure, that’s fine.
@@markstevens1729 I have that stuff. It's just a lot more fun after years of taking care of my own acerage to watch someone else do it
@@Chocolate_dragon yeah, I’m on a small acreage, with a MF sub-compact TLB, but the only flat land is sculpted out of slopes, and the vegetation is a cover for the boulders lining the ground, so no sweet flat-lander tools for me… it becomes “envy-watching,” which is better than hate-watching, which also seems to be a thing…
I can't believe I just watched a guy cut grass for 20 minutes. Shows how much I enjoy watching Derek. I hope a guy builds a beautiful home on that land
I'd call it more ten minutes lol
it really is a wonder isn’t it
I hope a guy builds a beautiful track on all that flat ground! Heck of a rally course!
Imagine if he used the V8 tractor.
He should fence off a section for a big back yard then grow crops on the rest for extra income, you could pay a farm hand to do it all for you.
My dad took 3 push mowers and removed the handles. With homemade brackets he mounted them side by side and hooked them up to the trailer hitch on my 84 Honda Big Red 3 wheeler and I pull started those Briggs and Strattons and commenced to mowing his 3 acre yard with the vengeance only a 14 year old with a new toy has. He made mowing fun! This reminds me of that.
Lol that sounds awesome.
Wouldn't they need to overlap slightly or they would leave a gap between them?
@@lyman135 They fit tight but yes I would go back and "cross cut" to get the missed spots time consuming but fun!
I did the same thing I did the same thing but I had 6 mowers, I didn't bother taking off the handles, I bolted them all together with EMT tubing flattened on the ends. I had one wooden rail right behind the tractor which mowed 48 in ... Then I staggered out the next four in a v pattern behind, and at the very end two that mulched. My full cut was about 160 in and I cut the time to mow two and a half acres down from 4 hours to 1 hour. Cars were stopping on the highway risking their lives to jump out and take pictures with their phones, LOL
Homemade 63" mower, nice.
I defiantly have equipment envy! Im just starting out on a 10 acre slice of heaven, so i pay a local farmer to brush hog. Cant wait till i just can mow! Thanks Derick, love both shows!
Same here. Mine is hay. It's SUPER thick so a riding lawn mower is a no go. A tractor is the price of a new car. Not to mention all of the attachments needed to properly handle everything that needs to be done. Do glad when I can just go handle this myself too.
I love my Swisher Trail Cutter! I pull mine with my Ram 1500 to mow the big field. A guy can’t be too comfortable when mowing big fields.
Bet a guy uses his ac to..🤣🤣
There you go. Thats useing your head haha sweeet
That's the way to do it! Haha
AC, cold snacks and tunes!
Really starting to like this channel a lot. Never thought I'd enjoy watching a fella mowing his yard but I have to say it looks like you have a nice little spread there and hopefully once you all get settled in we can get a little tour of the new place?
Mostly, just not the house. Thanks for the support and watching 🤝
Gotta keep the op-sec of the old domicile. Never know what kind of nefarious folks might stumble on a video.

@@ViceGripLodgewe dont need to see the outside of the house, just the kitchen with the misses and her cooking videos. Im a fat guy that likes to cook as well as work on old junk. Lol
Seriously, if a guy made a 3 hour film of just mowing that grass, a fella would watch from stem to stern! I mean it! Keep it coming guy!
Well, I settled in for a good chuckle when you said that rough cutter was going to take down that 2"+ sapling. Then it ate that 2"+ sapling for lunch and belched out a 3" limb for dinner. That Swisher cutter is an absolute beast! Super useful too, like a Swisher Army Knife.
That Swisher machine does a pretty good job of the bigger brush, just proves what a quality piece of equipment it is. Like the little tractor also. Good job fella!
The fact that I can happily watch Derek mow his grass and be entertained is fantastic. Thanks for the great video 😁
We literally watched Derek mow his grass!! It does say a lot about how entertaining a feller is.
@@77yogurt it does. Could watch Derek put the rubbish out and be entertained. Very knowledgeable feller, funny to go with it.
Just thinking about that is absolutely halarious 😂 whata feller
Yep, this cheap entertainment helps with rising inflation / fuel costs.... Derek doing his part to help fellow Americans through this rough patch !
Remember Derek, the more yard you make … the more you’ll have to mow!…. Week after week, year after year!!! Cool implement however, strangely satisfying to watch! Good luck!
When you have a big yard to mower noting works better and faster than a Zero Turn Mower. That is after you cut down the tall stuff and make hay bails out of it.
Only need to mow it once. Donuts will take care of the rest.
Bob, That's what son's are for!!!
What a beautiful little piece of heaven you’ve got there! That is a neat little machine. I was nervously awaiting a cinder block or push mower deck to be “found” with that beautiful piece of equipment, but I’m sure you walked it all first, being a smart feller (fart smeller?) and all. A guy just watched you mow for 15 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice tractor too! Keep up the good work and god bless
A great piece of property look forward to seeing more about things as you’re fixing it up. I’m happy you guys got to move to a new place.

I can't believe I just spent nearly 14 minutes of my life watching a guy mow his lawn. You do some of the most mundane shit on RUclips yet here we are hanging on every bit of it. I can't even complain. Keep doing what you're doing and keep being so wholesome. You're one of the few things on that box standing in the corner of my living room that I appreciate watching!
I am with you Shaun:). He can make simple mundane, as you say, tasks interesting. Must be his demeanor :)
Glad you are enjoying my home state. Your place is looking good. Greetings from Nashville, Tennessee.
Derek, that Swisher Rough Cut is doing an excellent job on that grass and underbrush. It looks like it even totally pulverizes it. Lookin' forward to more on the Swisher Equipment and would love to see more about the little John Deere. God Bless and stay safe.
Dang Derek, mowin, racin, showin, revivin, and most of all Daddin, and Husbanding, you a busy fellar. Immense respect for you sir!
I’m glad I’m not the only person that gets excited about implements
If i had a yard like that id love having that set up! We have a rider for my son and a small yard lol
Agreed
Pretty awesome ! Can’t even hear the engine pull down at all . I kept thinking when it hit that thicker stuff it would bog down but nope . Impressive.
That machine is a beast, I feel its relatively quiet also wow I would love to have.
When i used to farm i enjoyed being out in the field mowing hay and just having time alone out in nature and just appreciating the simple things in life. If your paying for therapy stop it and get on a tractor and start working in the fields. Best therapy ever! Miss those days. Love your new property!! Oh, and if your at the gym stop it and go throw bails of hay and see how fit ya get.
That's the truth. Sometimes. When it's 95° and the humidity is up, I could think of a thousand things I'd rather be doing than slinging bales. Up until I was 15, I ran the haybine, then the rake, but the old man always put me in the wagon when it was time to bale. You do a thousand bales in two days in that heat, good Lord all I could do was stare at the river, thinking about my friends having fun. Well, thinking about the river and friends until the kicker hit me in the head with the next bale, then I was right back to the suck.
Now that I'm the old man, I've come to enjoy it. Funny how that works. When you're young, you hate those days. Now that I'm older, I miss them more than I could have ever dreamed.
Yeah buddy! If you want to die young, working in cubicles will accelerate that process.
During those hot sunny humid days in the field the largest dread was returning with a couple wagons of bales and having to go into the mow to stack those bales. No matter how hot it got outside it was always better then in the mow lol.
@@adamradley4407 I personally disliked hoeing corn or beans on an open tractor especially in a stock field , after a couple rounds you were wearing a dirt and corn stock coat.
@@modoc852 best partofthosetypes of days..... the long shower at the end of it ;)
AWESOME mower! Beautiful up there in Tennessee! Love watching!!
Good one Derek....Swisher mower/brush cutter is a MEAN MACHINE!!!!!! Must have been fun.
I think that's the same Deere my friend has, I broke his throttle lever, so put on my vice grips. Vise grips are still on there 5 years later. I miss them.
Man that thing is a beast...There is just something so satisfying to cutting grass. What an amazing piece of heaven you have there...Congrats to you and the family...Love your new channel.
I figured out why it is satisfying a few years ago; its instant gratification. It from "My lawn looks like crap" to "sitting in a chair in the shade realizing it looks pretty good after a few hours of going back and forth in the hot sun. I mow really slow so I get the most even cut I can. I vacuum my carpet the same way. Faster may take less time but methodic and thorough yields better results.
Holy Crow that Swisher Brush Hog is UNREAL, never thought it would mow that high of grass yet TURN THOSE TREE'S INTO SPLINTERS. BEST COMMERCIAL YOU COULD HAVE GAVE SWISHER CUTTING THAT STUFF DOWN, DEREK. I'm looking into them now, THANKS.

Good equipment Derrick loving it taking care of that Tennessee homestead very nice brother
From here the property looks just great, Derek. Best of luck to the whole family at your new home/land.
Did they sell everything and move?
@@MaggieMay-bc9vu Basically, yes. Now in Tennessee.
@@MaggieMay-bc9vu Yes. The family and everything else has moved to the great state of Tennessee.
They brought many of his favorite cars and trucks with them.
@@MaggieMay-bc9vu they kept most of the cars and trucks, but sold most of the yard equipment because it would be a massive pain to move like 20 cars/trucks AND a bunch of mostly junky tractors and such.
My guess as to part of the move to Tennessee is because he has family there too. I was watching the Poorvette videos again and he was at his aunt and uncle's place in Tennessee and they probably got him a hookup on some land.
LOVE clearing brush, oh, those halcyon days of late August/ September, and that long grass!. Looks like a guys got himself some NICE property there!!
I like it, that brush mower was making quick work of that area!
The "young humans you're responsible for" are going to love that land. Also, yes, would love to learn about the John Deere.
I'd watch a video about the John Deer tractor 👍
Love the new property. I'm from Fargo and looking to move to Tennessee to be closer to family. Great country down there.
Are rhey living in a tent?....have not seen a house there--just a garage.
@@curbozerboomer1773 He said for security reasons the house will not be shown. I totally understand that after hearing the horror stories from some of the other big youtubers.
That jagger looked like multiflora rose which will grow like crazy if you don't shut it down! As Johnny Horton said "Ran through the brambles where a rabbit couldn't go"! Been watching tons of VGG and now VGL. My old man has his '61 Ford Falcon out in the woods that I have thought of restoring. Used to have a 289 with 2 AFB Carter 4 barrels. Used to be the fastest Ford in Warren, OH in the mid/late 60's. Engine is gone but body is not too bad. Your channel is giving me inspiration to pull it up to the garage. Keep up the great content!!!
Man, I'm kinda glad that black thing (Brush King? Silage Swisher? Weed Whacker? Tree Terminator? I dont know - whatever it was called) was tethered to the back of your tractor. If it got loose on its own who knows what it would have eaten! Doesn't look like much would slow it down or jam it up if it spits out 2-inch tree trunks and stuff like they are nothing to it. Reminds me - I've not mown my lawn in over 6 months and I know the old 4-stroke 4HP Briggs and Stratton is not gonna like chewing its way through, seeing as how she's now 18 years old and done more hours than your tractor over the years, I think. Time for a new rig with more HPs. Enjoyed the video, Derek. Love seeing these new toys in action. All the besr
100% want to see a longer video like this from VGL.
Lots of mowing videos on RUclips but very few are from people worth listening too
It's so satisfying to see a piece of equipment that actually does what it was built to do. That thing is brutal!
If you leave your bucket on roll it up . Lower close to ground lay the brush down when running it over makes it easier for your rough cut mower to go over . Plus help keep your tractor grill from getting stab by the brush .
Definitely want to see more on the John Deere, and anything AG related!
Run the mower high on first passes over bushes/small trees…the mower gets lifted by the bent over stuff and crabs, as you can see. Once you mow regularly keeping it short is no problem
Thinking that exact same thing. Always set high on the first pass, just in case.
Thinking about the boys. When my dad bought our first riding mower our yard went from a half acre to almost five. Never really complained cause it fun and satisfying. Thanks for the content.
Lookin good! That new property is nice and open...im sure it's beautiful, and a major blessing to you guys :)
Derik you kicked butt on the tree line, that mower is a tough machine

It's pretty satisfying watching that Swisher Brush King eat up light brush and weeds like a warm knife through butter. That's a neat rig.
I used to love cleaning up all the brush and overgrowth on my property, there was something very satisfying seeing it all tidied up nice and neat when I was all done. Wish I had all your fancy equipment back then to do it but I still got it done
Sehr ordentlich, wunderbar 👍♥️ Grüße aus Deutschland

That works a lot better than I thought it would. I've never took the time to thank you for the environment you give us as a older country boy I love your videos thank you very much for keeping me laughing and entertained.
As someone that's never mowed anything, this is pretty exciting . Would be cool to get a brush mover pov live feed as it chews the trees !
Never mowed a lawn?
i was pushing a mower at 10 yo every week in the hot sun of South Texas under my old man's watch. Had a 5 hp edger to do along the sidewalk and driveway as well. I always had new tennis shoes for my efforts.
Good to see you being a good steward of your blessings. Thanks for the continuously great content.
That lift arm bar you can get bars that bolt to the bar and pin to the top link of the 3 point hitch system to prevent it from rolling over. We had one for our Ford 2n tractor. That swisher does a nice job.
Loving all the content a guy can definitely get use to a guy mowing some grass or whatever you upload on this channel.Hope all is well hope the family is good stay safe and god bless make sure to stay hydrated and wet a guys back neck ever once in a while. Much love 🙏🙏
Pretty snazzy lil unit. A fellow is impressed how it knocked down that undergrowth on the tree line. Look like the ole mph's were up there cutting down the tall grass. Definitely would like to see some content on the lil deere
I recently got an old Kioti LB2204 tractor with a small diesel engine in it. Coming from a '60s Massey 204 with a 40 hp gas motor to this 24hp diesel , you ain't kidding on the fuel sipping. I go through in a month what I used to use in a weekend for fuel. Great thing about the old Kubota diesel engine that's in it, I can burn up my waste oil in the tank by mixing it in with the diesel fuel, so it stretches that diesel even further. With all the vehicles I have to do oil changes on, this goes a long way in fuel savings. Love what you guys are doing.
What a great bit of kit blimey it's like a mini bulldozer. 👌 great job
Certain things are really therapeutic. Mowing, running my wood chipper, and tilling with my tractor are some of my favorites. Love the new channel. -Ed at MCG.

I remember as a kid mowing hay with Grandpas Cabless Johnny Popper and driving over hornets nests. Those were glorious times on the farm!
I did the exact same thing, back in the mid 60's. :)
Friends had a D-17 Allis, one muffler they had on it was saying something to bumblebees and hornets that they didn't like. If you got within 50 yards of a nest, they would come hunting, mad as hell.
It got changed after they tried using 100 ft of chain to get a hay rake out of a tree line, near a nest. The rake got away from them, rolled down the hill and into a pond.
That thing is a beast! Makes quick work of the heavy, heavy brush. Nice! 👍 🚜

It's official. A guy can even make lawn mowing entertaining, informative and educational. Long live VGL!!
Bloody hell that's an amazing piece of kit, you should give it a name like "destructor" or "don't stand in my way" it just slices and crunches through everything. Wow.
You looked so content mowing your new yard with your new toy. Enjoy it buddy you earned it, every bit of it, God bless you and your family.
Offset brushking, otherwize known as the rabbit scatterer 3000 did a great job. Now a guy just need's two or three more tied together width wise to get her done before winter sets in.
With that hitch bar he could run one kicked out on the other side and one in the center and hed be good to mow
Looking forward to seeing more of the new property! Congratulations on the move.
Man that brush Mower really makes short work of pretty much anything it runs into. Great for use on a big place like that.

Great piece of equipment, chewed up everything you threw at it. 👍👍
Sure makes a guy have ambition to one day own a tractor and to have goals like this, thanks for the inspiration
Impressive! I thought for sure that thing was going to stall! A guy should look into having some on site fuel tanks installed. Even a few 35-50 gallon roll arounds might be handy. Some of them will even suckalate fuel out of a tank!! Wizardry at its best!!
yep, when you upgrade to over 5 acres and have a diesel sub compact and all sorts of other gas powered tools, you start wantin a 30-50gal tank on site for each pretty quick.
All you need is a portable 20-30 gallon tank in the back of a pickup so you can drive out to the field when you need it for the equipment and then drive it back when you're done
Yessir. Many months we use Kroger fuel points and I have learned when gas is cheap and about to go up by thirty cents or so. Just chain in the old heavy Thirty gallon tank in the truck and add to the inventory. Once we get home, just siphon it out or pump it to the tanks we have locked insider. Kroger let's you collect thirty five gallon maximum on the savings. It adds up
Good equipment makes the work enjoyable!!!👌
Great video thanks for sharing and yes service that little green monster.
