When Joan calls her opponent "Hannah Montana", it is a literal diss because she is disrespecting Miley's choice to change her identity.
As in: "You choose to see yourself as an independent adult, but I and everyone else still think of you as a child."

The 'when it comes to bad bitches I'm the patron saint' line has deeper meaning, but it's super obscure so most dont get it.
Back when the US Army first started admitting women, they were all in the US Women's Army Corps before they all got rolled in together. Saint Joan de Arc is one of their two patron saints (the other is Saint Genevieve). She's *literally* the patron saint of bad bitches.
Why does that just sound intense?
Yes Knox, “Je suis la fille en feu” means “I am the girl on fire”! Glad you were able to catch that from the surrounding context plus knowledge of another Romance language. Jeanne d’Arc was known as the Maid of Orleans, which is why Miley referred to her as a maid in the beginning. EDIT: aaaaand I forgot that she called herself that not a minute later from when I wrote this comment lol
If I remember correctly another reason they refer to her as "maid" is as a short for maiden or virgin who is still reasonably young.
The french term was "Pucelle d'Orleans". A "pucelle" is archaic for "young virgin". Nowadays in french they still use the maculine form "puceau" in a mocking way to dismiss younger guys as inexperienced.
Joan of arc saying she only gets down on her knees when it’s time to pray and Knox says that’s a “low blow” 😂
In regard to Miley’s cross dressing line, Joan of Arc also wore men’s clothes and cut her hair very short. The way she dressed came up during her trial as it was socially forbidden at that time for women to wear pants or armor.
Actually, Joan was safe to dress as a page when traveling.
It was permitted for women to wear men's clothing in order to defend themselves against legitimate fears of sexual violence. The Church even dismissed that claim as ridiculous once they examined the trial of Joan of Arc in detail (and later officially cleared her, and excommunicated the English associated with the trial).
By my understanding Joan's official crime that she was executed for was indeed crossdressing. She wore men's clothing on the battlefield since that's what they had for her.
She was executed for heresy. Historical archives don't really have her wearing men's clothes, just clothes less appealing and thus less "rapeable" on the battlefield. They were also specially designed to be difficult to be removed.
An English-based de-facto church was responsible for her charges, and argued for several months, meticulously piecing apart her "divine revelation" for any sign of witchcraft or devil worship. After successfully fending off multiple harassing questions regarding her faith for, like, days, or months, she lost her shit and started screaming at the court, thus sealing her fate.
The de-facto church, loyal to England, wanted retribution for her overwhelming success.
And, if I remember correctly, while she was in prison, between court visits, the made her wear men's clothing, though I could be wrong.
Another interesting tidbit, while awaiting trial, locked in a tower, she tried a jailbreak by jumping from the top of it. A fall which most definitely should have killed her only broke a leg.
Now, religious flimflammery aside, Joan of Arc was a badass bitch.

The direct focus of her charges was her divine revelation. It was 100% about whether it truly was Michael the archangel, or a message from Satan. Whether she was truly a prophet of God, or a witch. They tried the angle that even if she wasn't explicitly aware it was the devil, the devil can be deceiving and yadda yadda. So there was like a whole few days dedicated to her remembering the interaction to see if it matched biblical lore of divine revelation.
They had to lean on it in the case that she was a heretic because she was incredibly good at avoiding the normal pit-traps of rhetoric that were easy to convict people on. Like it’s heresy to say you know the mind of god.

Joan's last turn is one of my favorite in erb. She decided to just stop being clever and go for the throat and it was fantastic.

IMO, when Joan said je suis la fills en feu (I am the girl on fire) she nuked every fire line that Miley had.
Though I might be a hypocrite, cause I don’t think the same for Miley’s alter ego bar. Joan’s response came across to me like “yeah, that’s cute that you think you’re tough, but you’re still Hannah Montana to us all.”

I think Joan's prayer referencing "Hannah Montana" at the beginning of her first verse is still relevant(or not invalidated) if you look at it as she is ignoring Miley's attempts to distance herself from the ego she threw away...in other words, yeah you can be done with that ego, but it will always follow you...I could see it as a subtle jab of disrespect to after hearing her say that she is no longer that person, Joan blatantly deadnames her and doesn't even give her the decency of her name before she follows through with her bars. I feel like that's a good dig, especially since Miley went out of her way to end her verse with that. She took Miley's last words and ignored them and somehow at the same time addressed them in a punch in her opening bars. Holds up to me. :)

Joan wins for me purely off the last line. The flow switch to the slower 'Vive la France' felt like it really put an exclamation point on her verse.
Seems like most people prefer word play, but I really enjoy different cadences

"betrayed by those you defended" doesn't just refer to the Nobles of France. From memory her capture happened at the end of a battle where she fought in the rearguard to let the army get back inside a nearby city, and then the army shut the gates leaving her trapped outside at the mercy of the Burgundian army
I think the shot of Miley tearing up the picture in "God's in your corner girl/you need better management" is supposed to echo Sinead O'Connor tearing up a picture of the Pope on SNL
As well as tearing up a management contract to look for a new manager.
Jeanne D' Arc was the bravest, strongest woman in human history. At the age of 19 she had already led men into war and got into the highest levels of french military.
The lady who played Miley Cyrus (Michelle Glavan) has also made some raps in the past that I recommend checking out. They would rap as fictional characters. Her line in Gotham Sirens is my personal favorite, but I like their other songs too (Forest Bitchez, Disney Villains, Arcade Vixens are my personal favorites).

When she said she was a cross dressing peasant, the reason she was killed was actually because she showed up to court in male clothes. She was forced to sign a document saying she never heard angel's voices and she wouldn't wear men's clothing any longer. However, three days later, she was summoned back to court and wore men's clothes. This is because the guards actually stole her female clothing and replaced it with male clothing. Since she broke her legally binding document of avowing to never wear men's clothes again, she was burned at the stake.

haven't seen anyone mention this yet, the "sweet burn" reference is from Hannah Montana! the little "ooh tsss" that Peter and Lloyd did is what Miley and Lilly would do in the show as a sarcastic remark to the mean girls insulting them, basically saying "yeah whatever nice try", so it's clever in that it has an actual connotation of sarcasm with Miley while also using Joan's "Hannah Montana" comment against her by responding with a sarcastic reference from Hannah Montana :)
