Very cool. Now that've seen the R4 and the R1, I think what I'd really want is the R3.... or maybe an R4.1?? Something a little more portable, and maybe not quite as hot as the R4, but still with the BarCoal feature for winter camping.
I enjoyed the video and as always the honest thoughts about what you're showcasing. I would say you could probably use it with a wok and a simple wok stand if you HAD to cook on it but I agree that grease splatter/ would just make cleanup a chore let alone what it might do to the jets. as a side note my favorite propane cooking platform, the cook partner steel stoves, also don't have ignition options.
The non-ignition option is something I understand from a failure point. But even if it fails, you're still lighting it with some other tool. Might as well build it into the unit to begin with and use a lighter as a backup.
It's less of a "cram yourself around it" heat. The only Lavabox I've used was with @trailnewbie and it wasn't nearly as impressive as what the R1 is putting out.
Nice! I have the og ignik firecan. It has been great for many years. But, if you are not standing over or sitting very close and leaning over it the real heat coming from it is straight upward. Can you feel more outward, side, heat from the R1?
Same, I haven’t either. Thanks Justin for answering me and showing this new model off. This might very well be my next upgrade. Appreciate you brother.
I for one really enjoy the Firecan Elite, but for sure everything is going to have pros and cons. This R1 is intriguing.
This video was very well done! I just ordered one at the drop! Thanks for making this! 🎉
Love it, dude! I'm planning to pick one of these up for my future trips. Keep up the great work my friend
This is Game Changing!

Thanks for the video! Ordered one today, stoked 😎
Those were my two complaints about the Howl, so this is nice to see!
Boom! This is what we were waiting for!
how would you compare the heat to a lavabox?

@@JustinBMcBride thanks for responding this video was great!
my question is, could this fit on the back of a pwc with a tank?
PWC? Personal Water Craft? I mean, yeah, it'll fit in a backpack. And a 5lb propane tank will last you around 3 hours of burn time on high.

Yes, it is a much more pleasant experience than my OG Ignik. I haven’t used the newer Ignik so I can’t say much about that in comparison though.
