Facebook two factor authentication is a great option for adding an extra layer of security to your account. However, if you find yourself without access to your second authentication method to access your account, the only way you can get back into your account is by using a backup code. To avoid a situation where you find yourself locked out of your Facebook account, you'll want to make sure you go get your Facebook two factor authentication recovery codes and store them in a safe place you can easily access in case you ever need them.
Now let's walk through the steps to find your Facebook two factor authentication backup codes.
Step 1. Open a web browser, navigate to www.Facebook.com, and then login to your Facebook account if prompted. You'll land on your Facebook home screen.
Step 2. Click the drop-down arrow at the top right corner of the screen to open a drop-down menu.
Step 3. Click "Settings and Privacy" to open the Settings and Privacy menu, and then click "Settings" on the next menu. The Settings screen is displayed.
Step 4. Click "Security and Login" in the menu on the left side of the screen. Security and Login options appear on the right side of the screen.
Step 5. Scroll down the Security and Login screen until you get to the Two Factor Authentication section, and then click "Edit" next to Use Two Factor Authentication. If a prompt for your Facebook password is displayed, enter your password and then click "Continue." The Facebook Two Factor Authentication screen is shown.
Step 6. Scroll down this screen until you land on the Your Security Method section, and then click "Show Codes" next to Recovery Codes. A window is displayed where you can see the two factor authentication recovery codes associated with your Facebook account. Additionally on this screen you'll have the option to click "Get New Codes," which will create new recovery codes, or you can download the existing recovery codes to a text file.

I can't log into my Facebook....thats why i need a authentication code....the ones they keep sending through sms....but those codes don't work
What should i do if i don't have the 2FA code as well as no recovery codes (didn't save them), plus I can't login to my account as it requires the 2FA code or the recovery code and since I don't have any of those, how can I access my facebook account?

dang this doesnt work.. i literally get to the "two factor authentication" edit screen and it straight up asks me for a "login code". Says "Generate a code in your authentication app, and enter it here." Like wtf.. now im just straight up locked out

I don't have "Recovery codes" option there :(
As of May 1st, 2023:
Profile picture > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Meta Accounts Centre (Password and security) > Two-factor authentication > [Choose account] > Additional methods > Recovery Codes.

Same issue. I exited the FB app and now cannot get back in. FB says they are sending me a code. This usually shows up as a text message with other apps. FB never sends me a code.

Since many comments are the same issue maybe you could do a video explaning how to solve the issue when there is no access to the code generator nor to the facebook app, nor to any logged in facebook.
In my case I changed my phone and I do not have access to the authenticator and when trying to solve the issue Facebook asks me to open the App, which I also do not have access because when I log into the App it asks me about the Code generator. Infinite loop. Thanks in advance
