The best ever! I liked the Temptations, Smokey & the Miracles, the 4 Tops, the Stylistics, etc. But the Dells were in a class all by themselves, a national and cultural treasure. Their raw talent was off of the charts, even more so in 2023.
I saw these brothers in their later years. The lead singer sat on a stool. When he got ready to hit that note, he stood up, leaned back, hit that note, and HELLLLLLLLD IT! The placed erupted. It was a magnificent night at The Dell in Philly. They still had it. Thank you brothers for years of good music.
YUP. Saw them at Hampton Institute during my Sophomore year …. Didn’t wanna go, but, my roommate/sack talked me into going. Was one of the BEST CONCERTS I’VE EVER ATTENDED

The Dells is one of the greatest soul singing groups of all time. So romantic. Brought back pleasant memories listening to them now. Each member sang his part well. The harmonizing is terrific. So much passion.
You never get tired of.looking and listen.too theses. 5 nice looking men's. Im on the Dell's station every day.i love this channel. You tube.you got it going on.
The Mighty Dells. Marvin Junior is a straight bad ass. He held that note for what seemed like forever on the original record. Then, when The Dells re-recorded “Stay In My Corner”, damn near 20 years later, Marvin held that note twice as long on the remake. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙇🏾♂️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
And the only reason he held the note was because the label wanted the song to be 3 mins long. They were short about a min so he said “ I can hold the note to make the song a min longer”.
I feel you and absolutely agree and miss my Dad too but he did his job as a man in a bad racist world 50 - 60s black in NYC fres out the south what a wall street mentality and won
You know, I never hear anyone mention the 3 guys singing backup on this song but that tight harmony they throw at us at 2:23 and then bend the notes into a minor key is a real high point in this arrangement. It really comes thru on the studio version and something I wait for every time I hear this song. It's sort of like the drum break in the middle of "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins, we all know it's coming and we can't hardly wait for it. The Dells showed us what the great vocal tradition of the Doo Wop groups from the 1950's could look like the the 1970's.
All the Dell's brought something too the table those boys could sing not one miss a beat they was great in every way long live the Dell's they gave us beautiful time's and great summer nights for some reason. Beautiful music sounds even better at night maybe because you or trying too rested and it's easy too do that too good music. 🎶.

@@williamg2552 I hear you- but all remain uniquely great. Marvin Jr (along with Mr. Levi Stubb's) remains the greatest lead group singer ever. That has got to be the longest note ever held by a human. I think he held that note for 25 seconds. That is beyond amazing.
I believe the true record is Bill Withers, " Lovely Day". He held a high e note for 18 seconds and that was the record forever and probably still is.
Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent song and performance.
@@joec5671 This was longer!
A gifted musician friend of mine said he held it for 36 bars........it’s and amazing feat but it’s an amazing song too.
And the only reason he held the note was because the label wanted the song to be 3 mins long. They were short about a min so he said “ I can hold the note to make the song a min longer”.
