The sudden intense hostility gets me every fricken time
I'm loving all the catan content lately, it's my favorite game. I feel like the nerd in a teen drama right after everyone realizes they're actually pretty cool and the school makes them prom king/queen.
I just always assumed it was far too complex to ever try. But this series has changed me.
@Mark Dunne Same! Actually bought the physical board game and played it with my brother and nephew. They... got bored 😄 But hopeful for trying with my SO and mates next week!
@@sglass5848 and is the physical literally thw sam? This version isn't a streamlined version is it?
@@markamscientist Only streamlined in the sense that if you want random placements for the tiles and values then you have to do it manually on the physical board (of course). But playing the game it's exactly as you see on the vid :)
Ogbert the nerd went on to invent a new kind of borkulator.
Yo, Im so glad NL is continuing to upload Catan. Its a very entertaining game.
great banter + simple enough game to watch, thank u eggfather
Please, keep the Catan uploads coming. This has been one of my favorite series you have even uploading and the chemistry you guys have when playing this game is amazing (Ik I sound like a child, but the face NL makes when he rolls +4 resources on a single roll or turn 24:54 is hilarious).
Seconded! Maybe if they get a bit bored they could try some of the different maps/expansions eventually too!
What a freakin game!!!! So close. Everyone had a chance, well..... besides MALF LMAO. The way Ryan was pitting MALF against Justin was genius.
A pleasant surprise indeed, thanks for the company.
Malf just chillin there with no settlements and a failed longest road
You can't surprise me Ryan Letourneau
Predicting blue just based on placements. The brick+wood, and ore/wheat synergy is like basically perfect.
Predicted wrong, lol
@@johnlecavalier6199 blue literally won?
@@ChaseDust source?
Everyone is talking about the missed dev card at the end but all I’m thinking is he should have taken everyone’s brick with that monopoly. I think there were much more brick at that point and it would have slowed down Justin a tad (even though he didn’t win).
Or wheat, he had a 2:1 port and 1 of them was complaining about having too much wheat.
yeah but Justin asked him not to
You can somewhat tell how many resources are in use by looking at their ?s underneath them at the bank. Three means not many are in use, 2 means halfish are in use, 1 is not many are left, 0 is 0. In this case brick had been on ?? for a while, meanwhile wood had just gotten to that point. So most likely choosing brick would have been better.
catan hits different when it's with friends
NL not going for a development card which could've been a victory point on his last turn sent me
That’s the trouble with that kinda play though- would you rather waste resources on a chance to win or hold your cards on the chance nobody wins so that you have a better chance on the next turn? The Catan connundrum
@@ryancooper4770 there are only 2 victory cards vs I believe a total of 15 dev cards
@@danielburnham5325 From the wiki: "In the base game, there are 25 development cards: 14 knight cards, 5 victory point cards, 2 road building, 2 year of plenty, and 2 monopoly." I wasnt watching intently so I definitely could've missed some dev cards played, but I remember/see 6 knights in play, 2 Road Building and 1 Monopoly gone, as well as Malf holding a card (which was a VP), there is a 4/15 chance of winning.
I dont think you can play development cards the same turn you get them though.
@@theinnkeeper8209 victory point cards are added instantly the turn you get them. All other development cards may not be used until your next turn.
i take these catan videos like fucking shots, thank you for the procrastination ryan
Love this series, love how NL always forgets he could have won (if he got lucky and got a point from develpment) just before SIPS won. He had wheat port 1 tree, 3 wheat and 1 rock. If he was trying to win, he could have changed 2 wheat for 1 sheep and risk it for a point from develpment.
I think I would've gone for the Sheep port in setup, which would've given a sheep and two wheat tiles with the matching ports.
Malf's sextape joke was cold blooded.
I can feed you some wood had me laughing
Yay I love these Catan videos
I am so surprised.
Same, 1 Minute ago, what a surprise!
22:24 Eggman's eyes go wide for
31:17 sips predicting his own fate
NL! To get the proper saran/plastic wrap tear, grab one end with your hand and use your forearm to cleanly tear it without ripping
This video is just full of witty little owns.
Babe wake up new catan video
'04 Crash was terrible. '96 Crash however... masterpiece.
did not expect them to sing one lyric from blurry by puddle of mudd
33:28 oh how the tables have turned
Love the catan content
The road to longest road is long
I have no idea how catan works but the videos are funny so i watch
this is the most cursed NL vid
Rest in peace snook :(
The thumbnail had me laugh out loud 🤣
more colonist!
Counting Up to the big 1 Million: At this point NL has 997K
never played catan. never wanted too. but ive watched every catan upload lolol
That sure was surprising
The 10/6/5 stone should have been the first pick tbh. You can easily get some wheat on your second pick even if you have to pick a shore spot, and stone is a key resource to winning the game to make cities and dev cards.
do you think you could add the discord overlay that shows whos talking? been enjoying the content, and id like to know whos talking because I cant tell the voices apart
I love the catan content
I am not a big fan of Catan. But I am loving the Catan content.
Im a simple man
I laugh, i press like
5 6 10 looks so good here, only good ore on the board and u will get a good wheat spot on the way back setting yourself up for a great ore wheat sheep game! 😃
Keep the vids coming nl!
Great game!
AAH!
Anybody but sips or malf 🙌🏻
Man the one thing I don’t understand about the peloton is the music thing. I work out to a playlist on my phone.
Why would I want to listen to other peoples playlists.
It seems like Malf tries to screw up the game for other people instead of trying to win.
NL complaining about people getting angry over fake scenarios they made up is richer than rich lmao
23:16 lmfaoooo ryan with the monopoly card
I want them to try the Catan expansion just once to see how it is lol. Just to try something fresh
I want to see MALF trying to teach everyone how to play Root.
Yuussssss
nl fishing makes me feel betrayed
is NL going to hit 1 mil today :0
hey nice vid NL
What's the missing context to NL's aversion of Red Hot Chili Peppers
Malf took really stupid positions on this one.
Wait, so NL and Malf made two tapes together?
ive never played Catan, what version are they playing?
Nl could have gone for the development card point ftw
Nice
Okay Nl, great game but at 42:27 you could have traded your 2 wheat for a sheep and gotten a victory point from the delevopment card. Whyyy must you do this to us...
You right, probly would've just been a knight anyway though. If I had to guess he was saving the wheat for another city
Pog
Couldn't ryan have won on his last turn? trade 4 wood and 2 wheat for a sheep and brick and built a settlement? I'm not sure how the catan rules fully work...
For a newer player, that’s a good spot to see he can use his hand that way. However, he had nowhere he could build the settlement. A settlement must be at least two roads away from all other settlements. So he can’t build at the top of the map since the possible settlement on that 8 hex would be adjacent (one road away) from his own and malf’s settlement.
His only way to win on that turn specifically would be to trade for a sheep and ore and try to snipe a victory point from a development card (though with sips only on 8 and no dev cards in hand passing seems more optimal. Ideally after trading all 4 wood for one ore to set up his next turn and not be robber bait).
Hi there
Damn he could've traded at the end to get a dev card and possibly get a victory point for the win. That's why I was so sad when SIPS was the one that won. The title for surprise mislead me to believe that Ryan was going to squeak it out at the end.
I would've traded 2 wheat for 1 sheep at the end, to buy a dev card hopefully with 1 victory point.
