Nice test Greg! So it looks like the lens adds some contrast, vibrance and tones down the highlights. Or was the the ND filter doing that? Love the Granite dells. I live in Williamson Valley and have been meaning to fly the Dells one of these evenings.

Great video! I did some tests of my own and found that full FOV setting can’t be used with the anamorphic lens. HQ mode must be used. I had the same horizontal and more vertical FOV with full FOV mode without the anamorphic as HQ with the anamorphic. Anamorphic video has noticeable sharpness reduction. I found that the setup hassle was not worth a few cool looking flares.

I didn't even think to test in full FOV, I always shoot in HQ. I will have to do more sharpness testing with and without. The flights I did with the lens on were at the end of the day with the light going down fast so difficult to compare.
Did you ever get more vignetting? I did the very first flight but this time it seemed to be fine, not sure what the difference was, same exact setup.

Yeah, me thinking the same... is it worth the hassle ? Footage looks astounding, but what if I use HQ mode and just chop the top and the bottom in post ? Ok, obviously not the same FOV, but for landscapes does is even matter that much ?

Thanks for the comparison! Great video!! I can’t believe you wanted to fly instead of reading the NPMR!! 😂.

haha! And this video is a few weeks old (two days after the NPRM came out). I think I spent about 100 hours on this damn NPRM since... Almost done!

Hey I'm a Pilot Institute Part 107 passed student - Woohoo!! Have you ever had a problem calibrating the drone gimbal at 40%? Apparently in a recent update, they added a straight down tilt (90 degrees) and the drone gimbal calibration fails and gets stuck at 40% for a lot of people - including me!

Man , that looked great. Where are you filming at? Beautiful country.

Location is Prescott, AZ. Love this place for so many reasons. Beautiful landscape, high altitude, and mountains all around.

Wow the Anamorphic footage looks so much better. I have to study it. I guess there there is some kind of poloizer or ND filter build in to a wider lens. I did wonder how much it was. By the way it's Tom whos taking your 107 course. The who is easily flustered. LOL. Thanks Greg enjoy the new rules video tonight as well.

Hi Tom, the lens comes with optional ND filters. I was definitely using some in this test.

Why would you apply it while the gimbal is turn on? Wouldn't it be hard on the gimbal when installing it that way? I like to put my my filters while the drone is off. Thanks for the video it was good to see you out in the field this time around.

That's the procedure. If you put it on before you turn the drone on, it can't go through the initialization of the gimbal. It seemed super weird to do that at first but the gimbal eventually goes "numb" and you can install it. Then when you leave it alone for a second it goes back to normal.
