First time here at this channel and I must say, I really love the content you make. This video with the amount of details and side by side comparison of the individual drone’s video quality amazes me! 10:23 Hats off for the effort! 🙌🏻
Thanks! Side by side tests are inherently hard with drones (unless you build some insane rig to carry both with a larger drone) so I appreciate hearing from people that it’s useful to them.
That was an awesome comparison. I own both and I was wondering what am I giving away by shooting with the mini. Apparently not much. Although you can see the advantage the Mavic has over the mini when it comes to low light, but as far as sharpness, especially shooting stills at 48MP, I like the mini more. Also its panorama looks better. Edit point: I had to come back and watch the video again. After several months of not using the Mavic 2 Pro, I picked it up again, and realized how big, heavy and cumbersome it is compare to the Mini 3 Pro. I'd say unless you are traveling to a place that is known for high wind, don't even bother. The Mini 3 is the new king.
WOW! Exceptional video. No one should be shocked that the Mavic 2 Pro produces better images. However, I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality coming from the 12MP camera on the Mini 3 Pro. As is the case with most wide apertures, the latter tends to produce images that are soft in the corners. Great job.
The colors definitely look better on the Mavic 2 Pro but overall I’m feeling like replacing the mavic 2 Pro I have with the mini 3 pro for convenience.
Glad to hear that Rogier! The lack of other videos comparing these two drones is why I made it despite their likely not being that much search volume for the comparison.
Wasn’t onto the Mini 3 Pro. Used a separate audio recorder lav mic (you can use literally any one or even just record audio with your phone in your shirt pocket) but the key is to clap at the start of your audio and video recording. Then once you’re done filming you try and line up the sound of the clap in the audio with your hands clapping in the drone video and it should be good. Takes a little work but once you get it (provided you just do one long take of video and audio) than you’re all set.
Love to hear when a video I made helps someone make a better informed buying decision especially when it’s saving money and not falling for a company’s marketing hype around the “latest and greatest”.
Thanks for the reviews! One thing I do wish you would have mentioned. The remotes. While the Mavic 2 Pro remote is lightyears better than the Mavic 3 remote, the Mini 3 Pro RC remote is WAY better than both, IMO. It has insanely good range, controls, and visuals without any separate device requirement. That alone has been the biggest reason I sold my Mavic 2 Pro and 90+% of the time I fly my Mini 3 Pro. Oh, and lenses and settings. Which settings were you using in these videos? HDR on the Mini 3, etc? (Perhaps throw these on the description field on your raw videos?) The lack of variable aperture is probably my only complaint with the Mini 3.

Very true. I’m more a video person and don’t give two sh*ts about the 180° shutter rule really but if you’re a photographer or need to film video following the 180° shutter rule always then having adjustable aperture is almost a must.
Very true that DJI has kept adjustable aperture as a feature only available in its Mavic series of drones but I don’t think I’d ever say it makes them “crisp and sharp”. I guess in the sense that you can stop down the aperture to f/11 but over rarely used anything lower than f/5.6.

The moire looks about the same between the two. Does that seem accurate to say? Would the Mavic 3 Classic be any different, or really worth it if it's mostly low moire and 10-bit that I'm after?

Thanks, glad you found it helpful! The audio recorder I'm using is the ZOOM F2 - amzn.to/3CbKCKH. It definitely has some limitations, but I love it because it uses 32bit float which means you essentially never have to adjust audio levels or worry about peaking. As for what I'd use to record random things - I usually just use sound effects I find online and add the audio that way in the post, however, if there's a unique sound I don't think I'll be able to find, I will often use my phone (after all they are designed first and foremost to capture audio) or my other audio recorder which is the Tascam DR40. Highly recommend the latter as it's lasted me 10 years.

Well *47 mins* is more like 34-36mins in reality, but compared to the previous gen of drones like the Mavic 2 Pro, Air 2S and more which get only like 24-26min it’s pretty insane. I don’t get how some people are still complaining about flight time 😂
some stuff looks better on the mini and some on the 2 pro. I had both and love the mini for its size. it fits in my hiking back pack with easy. quick to get up in the air and start shooting
Great synopsis of the video here. I too wasn’t able to conclusively call one better but the Mini 3 Pro is definitely better for carrying around in a backpack and doing quick casual flights.

I can’t tell you personally either man as I’m not the biggest fan of it (and obviously don’t trust it to not crash into stuff as you can tell from the video). That said, I think people like the idea of having a drone being able to film them without them having to do any work and allowing them to let them focus on what they’re doing. I like the POI mode (allows it to orbit an object) but personally don’t use the active track mode much as I’m almost always at the controls and do it manually. Would love to have another person chime in though!
The biggest con ever on the mini is the wind this weekend lost my mini 3 due to wind something my mavic pro the OG one can handle mini 3 couldn’t handle it I tried fighting it I wish I would of threw it in sport mode maybe it would of helped been flying for 10 years first drone I ever lost what a downer lol so now back out with the OG mavic to I leap and buy the mavic 3 with the dual camera

Have a mini 3 pro upgraded from a MP1 and it is truly quite amazing. Hate that it looks like a toy and is plastic and looks cheap ( sorry ). I live in a windy place and am restricted with the mini 3 , was thinking about buying a MP2 as a spare for being able to fly in more windy conditions.
well for next time, you can record audio with the drone!!!!!!! how about low light performance? wind resistance? maximum-minimum f stop of the drone cameras? can you change the aperture on the mini? not a very good review mate.
“record audio with the drone”? not really sure what you mean by this Otherwise I work to always make my videos as good as possible but understand that they don’t always hit the mark for everyone. Still, appreciate you taking the time to watch the video all the way through and leave your feedback so I can try to improve. @@NildoScoop The mavic 2 pro has REAL 10 bit color as well as 2.8 to 11 f stop, the mini 3 pro has a fixed f stop at 1.7, you can't change it... Only the mavic 2 zoom has a fixed f stop at 2.8. So in heavy light the mavic wins not to mention you can get the shutter speed correct to make the cinematic look way better because of the ability to change the f stop.
I think DJI are just having a laugh! All these cameras are basically identical, same crap image. Is it some silly government rule why they cant put decent cameras in these things?
The fact that the video is made with enough love to sync the video transitions with the beat of the music is worth a like itself haha

Im currently using the Mavic 2 pro and knowing that these new smaller drones have 47mins of battery time is crazy
