First time viewer here. Thank you for your honest and DETAILED review of the Heavys H1H headphones! It was refreshing to see a purely honest and well thought-out video about this product; especially after noticing that many other reviewers were actually sponsored by Heavys. Can't wait for mine to arrive!
Just got my Heavys delivered today and I don’t want to take them off! I was worried at 1st because I had them on backwards (L/R) and was disappointed with the sound. Then I remembered about the two tweeter speakers facing 90* across your ear drum. Wow! Day and night difference once you have them on the correct ear! U can hear the different instrument layers and vocals with a deep, balanced bass! These are just as advertised and worth every penny! Far superior than Bose, Beats, JBL and Sony headphones!
As a metalhead who is cursed with audiophilia, it's nice to see a company try to target our demographic. You have to scratch off any gear that is super detailed due to (mostly intentional) poor recording quality while also not being laid back and warm. Tight, fast, but impactful bass and somewhat forward presentation tends to be the sweet spot.
@LaMereACaniche LOL I didn't say it is the only headphone good for metal. I said it is purposely built for metal and it does a good job for that genre. How is that being influenced by marketing and ads?

Just got mine today in the mail. I am going to say immediately these are the best headphones I have ever tried hands down. I bought Samsung buds 3 (not pro) about 45 days ago and they are straight ass compared to these. Before the buds I ordered Sony WH-CH720N and took one listen and returned them immediately. The lows are deep and the highs are very crisp. The equalizer isn't available yet but honestly I'm not even concerned they sound so good. My only critique would be they are heavy and bulky but honestly I would walk around with a trash can on my head all day in order to get this caliber of sound quality. $244 and worth every penny. I am not paid by heavys and have no other incentive other than my desire to share this wonderful piece of equipment with as many people as possible. Love these headphones and love you guys at "Heavys". Great job!
I ordered a pair because the built quality seems very sturdy. I usually have to replace my headsets after a couple years due to plastic or wires breaking.
This review might just have pushed me over the edge of actually ordering a pair, they´ve been on my radar for ages now but I kind of forgotten about them. A while back a lot of bands I'm following on Instagram started dropping their shells for them and that peaked my interest again. Which I guess shows that that particular feature or marketing gimmick, whatever you want to call it, works. I have some disposable money burning a hole in my pocket and I'm stuck between buying a pair of these or a new phone (which I don't really need yet)... If I know myself I will end up buying both though, but I can pretend to chose at least.
best price effort you will be able to get. If I have to choose between my DT-1770 and the H1H for metal, I will take the one which was made especially for metal. Go for the Heavys, it like WACKEN, the metal Mecka. Metalhead looking for headphones? Take an Aune S9 headphone amp, and Aune X8 DAC with a double SS2590 Op amp, the heavys premium cable and the star: H1H and warship Metal like never before! Horns up Heavys!
I didn't use a specific playlist. I tested with the various artists and albums I always use plus some recommendations from friends on Discord. I'm sure my list isn't up to snuff with true metal heads. I don't recall every artist and album off the top of my head but it has a lot of variety. Some artists I remember: Metallica, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Zombie, Pantera, Skillet, Stryper, Petra, John Schlitt, Alice Cooper, Alice in Chains, Apocalypto, Audio Adrenaline, AWOLNATION, Black Sabbath, Creed, DMX, Duran Duran, Eclipse, Finntroll, Green Day, Guns N Roses, Iggy Pop, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Kutless, Massive Attack, Megadeth, Mozart Heroes, Nirvana, Ozzy, Pearl Jam, Phish, Stone Temple Pilots, Switchfoot, Tangerine Dream, Tears for Fears, The Re-Stoned and many others.
I literally scrolled through my song and album list by artists when providing names. As I mentioned, I don't have a specific playlist for metal and rock. I listened on random and tested all sorts of genres. I will admit it, I don't know the names of a lot of the groups.
and don't forget: the range is only 5-46.000 Hz WITH the cable. AND switch the headphone on. Bluetooth is cool but I want to enjoy music. go for the cable. you can adjust your sound with the filters of the Aune X8, now you will hear a difference.
I on the other hand want complete isolation from the outside world..haven't found one that can do that, so how do they compare to Sony's / Apple /Bose, best?
The only experience I have with Apple, Bose a d Sony ANC options are in the electronics department of my local Best Buy and Walmart not enough to give a fair comparison.
I just ordered mine (I've never owned such expensive headphones 😅) and I'm super excited. Especially because of the collab with Ayreon which is one of my top 3-4 bands - they just look awesome. Metal and rock makes up for maybe 70% of what I listen to, but I wonder how 60s pop and psychedelic music will sound on these or synthpop. I discovered noice canceling feature for the first time 3 years ago (I know, late) through Airpods Pro, which for me (not an audiophile) a decent but not a wow sound but which are super comfortable and I looove their noice canceling though it seemed to be better upon purchase, either my ear got used to it or the effect somehow faded a bit. Have you ever checked out the noice canceling in Airpods 2 Pro? How does that feature compare to Heavys? What are the best noice canceling headphones that are not more than expensive than Heavys? Best: blocks our the most of the sound. I wonder what I will think. Most of the metal I listen to is not heavy on growl, it's more high vocals (power metal, heavy metal) and I read some comment that these are not the best for that.... mhhmm... I hope I'm not dissapointed.
@@TheHonestAudiophile I have only listened very shortly (they arrived TODAY and I'm at work atm) and a) I love the comfort, they're heavy but sit down and ery comfortably b) The overall sound is very very good but... my ear is NOT an audiophile ear, but I don't hear a massssive wow improvement compared to Airpods Pro 🙈. Maybe my hearing is not that good. So I was expecting like this amazing sound immersion, like I had a musician in front of me, like an almost 3D sound... and I don't hear that. Just very good quality music, better bass than on Airpods but I was even expecting HEAVIER bass and better forthcoming drum sound. Of course, I'm listening on Spotify which is not the best quality and wireless ... but in this environment, I don't hear a massssive improvement. However, I noticed that everytime I change the headphones I almost need to adjust to the new sound, it kind of evolves as I listen to it, if it makes any sense. Maybe it's just in my head. So I will have to get back to my completely unskilled and unprofessional 'review' later. Oh, ANC is way better on Airpods. But the sound is sooo good that turning it loud, I basically don't need the ANC. However for work situations, where it's not allowed to listen to music, they wouldn't be enough. But then again, for work I need in-ear headphones that are discrete anyway. I'm thinking of getting Bose QC II because of best ANC (so I've heard), I hope metal music sounds good in them.
Ive seen heaps of reviews and comments from people saying they are havyling lot of issues with them but HEAVYS message them and say all the issues are fixable with updates and tweaking of the settings? I was wondering if you have experienced any troubles or issue with them?
Will this headset operate without battery power if connected via the physical audio cable? I'm thinking of the longevity of the device (not being dependent on battery life).
Excellent review. My Master & Dynamic MW65 finally gave out on me. I'm waiting to get paid and these will be mine. I did have one question. Its Hellblocker, not Hellbreaker, right? Not to correct anyone, i just want to make sure I'm not misspeaking lol
Just got mine and not sure they’re better than my Beats…cranked them all the way up, used the cable, got to “maximum volume” and wasn’t blown away. Not enough bass or volume IMO. Maybe I need to learn ow to use them better, but it shouldn’t be complicated. When Good and Gone by Marcus King doesn’t sound big enough, the phones ain’t cutting it 🤷🏻♀️
Heya i currently have Sennheiser momentum 4s! For the most part i listen to really heavy metal like deathcore and and metalcore and i also use them when i watch movies/youtube etc away from home! I mean the the momentum 4a are awesome but im wondering if you think it would be a better option for me to sell the momentum 4s and get the heavys instead since i pretty much only listen to metal!?
Other reviews have been pretty good too, but a lot of commenters in one of the other videos complains that they have muddy midbass and don't go loud enough on Bluetooth. I don't know, but I know that my grado 500 have a bit more midbass energy than I would like and I actually prefer the grado 325, what do you think of these compared to either of those ?
Another headphone I'm familiar with would be the Sony MDR 7506. Honestly you review makes it seem like it sounds like a 7506 with a bit more lower bass (?)
Jazz music will be warm and lush, somewhaat bloated sounding at times. It isn't the worst sound for jazz and it is something I can tolerate but there are better options. These are intended for rock and metal listeners.
I know that on Android devices you can disable the safe volume settings in developer options. Also some phone maunfacturers, ie.Samsung, have settings that can be adjusted. I agree that listening at higher volumes does damage ears. Here is a link to a write-up I did on the subject: www.thehonestaudiophile.com/post/how-loud-is-too-loud-does-it-sound-better-an-honest-audiophile-listening-level-challenge
I destroyed my ears going to shows and the sound system in my car. Wish all I got was tinnitus and hearing loss. I'm now super sensitive to sound and can't go out in public. Wish I wore plugs at shows. Now I watch TV on a whisper. This is for the young people who want headphones to be dangerously high
@@GamingForTheRecentlyDeceased the decibels in a live show are way higher than volume maxed out headphone. Sure maybe it's not great to max out the volume, but the decibels you experience at a live show are much higher. Wearing earplugs at live shows is completely different than turning the volume down on your headphones
I listen mostly to metal and classical, so your comment about these with classical gives me pause. Now, am I a super critical listener? No, but I do want great sound.
I'm a metalhead, but I'm young (meaning I can't promise I'll stay a metalhead forever, I would say I'm kinda an audiophile? I alway equalise my music and I prefer to get the best quality audio products possible. although I've been into heavy music since I was 6 and metal is still my favorite kind of music.) I'm considering the Sony WH-1000XM5, and I can't seem to find enough videos that compare the Heavys and the XM5s. I'm curious to know what you think.
lol audiophile get a decent dap skip wireless and get a second hand set of focal clears or some audese lcd2 headphones get some balanced cables and you will never want to touch sony again
Here's a link to the user manual on the heavys website. www.heavys.com/pages/downloads Transparency mode is activated by pressing both buttons beside the volume knob at the same time.
Do you have the eq curve for the frequency response? A lot of headphones claim excellent frequency response but then you find that the lows start to roll off at 60-80 hz and the highs do the same at 16khz. Also, what's the SPL? I'd love to see an SPL over 100 dB.
kuulokenurkka.squig.link/?share=H1H_(Hell_Blocker_ON)_**,H1H_(Passive)_** I don't put much credence in graphs and measurements as I trust my ears and my impressions are my opinion of how they sound to my ears. Thanks for the comment, have a great day.
I hope you're joking. They're not even remotely close. LCD-X 21 is open back, analytical, neutral and natural. HEAVYS are BASSY, Bluetooth, ANC headphone that excels with metal music. Total opposites!
Wow very interesting product, but from the super affordable price and so many features offered I would assume they are made in China? Well they could be made in Vietnam, Thailand or Malaysia too, which I don't really mind but usually only by manufacturing in China you can sell at this price.
@@TheHonestAudiophile holy, that is amazing! I really love products that is made in their own country instead of oursourcing to China. Amazing how they could manage to get the price that low with the features offered + made in Germany too!
@@TheHonestAudiophile Nope! Made in Indonesia , i’m one of the first baker , living in Austria , 270km away from the frontier of Germany and my headphones where assembled and shipped from indonesia , i had to pay 35€ tax import inside the EU 🥴
I have them and honestly, i must admit they sound good. Are they worth the price? NO! I have over 100 headphones over the ear and i know good sound. Heavys are tuned for bass heads. I think the company forgot to add trebles !!! There is no trebles in the sound !!! Heavys promised us an app before the end of 2023, but i am pretty sur that will never happens! I wrote to them and they told me that the app will launch soon... i doubt a lot 😂
@@TheHonestAudiophile like i said the app is not released yet 🤣 they told on their web site that the app will be launched in the first quarter of 2024...this company is really a shame. It's disrespectful for the consumers! I sold mine and that's it for heavys.
What do you need an app for though really? Cell phones have EQ, the headphones have physical buttons for everything. You can listen from a cellphone all three ways if you have a phones jack still...
Were the wires USED or something?? They should be folded together with a tie of some sort, these look like they were just crumpled up and tossed in the box.
Do not buy this headphones a lot of the features in their website are not there rightnow, including the app that has been delayed almost 6 months by now, things like lowering the effect loud music have in your ears or audio codecs like LHDC are not working either. Also if you try to use this with just your analog cable the sound is horrible. I repeat DO NOT BUY this I regret buying them
@@TheHonestAudiophile Im so mad at them, they told us for months that this will come later in a firmware, then After pushing them they told me that things like LHDC support will not be coming since is going to require a 2.0 version of heavys... yet its still in their website...
Mine have muddy mids and severely muted highs. Hot garbage sound, which is really, really disappointing considering the bass is snappy and pretty much every other feature is great. Audio-wise, they compare disfavorably to my boring ol' HD 598CS that I've got plugged in to my PC. I'm really disappointed. If you like boomy stuff with no other noticeable characteristics, you'll enjoy yourself.
I hate to say it, but you have a point. The bass is punchy, but it's muffled and mushy. The high end gets lost. I listened to Tom Sawyer, and you have to concentrate to hear the hi-hat, which is integral to the feel of the song. In fact on everything, cymbals in general are in the background. Compared to a set of Shure SRH1540, they fall way short - although the Shure's could do with a bit more low end to be fair. Real shame, I had high hopes for these.
@@ljdsam I actually asked for (and received, to their credit) another set from support to see if it was something to do with my original pair, and nope, that's just the way they sound. They just sound closed-in and unresponsive by comparison to headphones half the price. Where the hell are all those extra drivers they have? Are they even working? The hands-down most frustrating part is that damn near everything else about them (construction, an interface with switches and knobs instead of touch controls, etc.) is near-as-makes-no-difference perfect. And the low end IS really fantastic. *sigh* Back to the drawing board. Maybe if they ever actually release their modification app, it'll be possible to make them useful.
Unfortunately, I cancelled mine. I kept getting lies and no reviews for months. Almost a year of waiting and I gave up and got a refund. This is one of the few positive reviews I have seen, and all positive reviews seem to be from backers. The opposite opinions are coming from those that just did the pre order.
I was an original backer and endured all the same delays and it was so frustrating. I'm glad I waited as it has pleased me. I don't think HEAVYS sent out review units to reviewers as of yet, they were fulfilling the backers and preorders first. That could be the reason for the lack of reviews but I could be wrong. Anyway, sorry you were disappointed. Hope you get a chance to hear them and possibly pick them up later.
Honestly they are way over hyped. They sound like garbage out of the box and even after buying wavelet and messing around with the settings they sound decent. Nowhere near as clear as headphones costing half the price.
If you are a metalhead looking for pair of headphones - keep looking! H1H is not for you. They are not tuned for metal, unless [insert any boy band name here] is what you consider to be metal.
I totally disagree. I tested this headphone with metal bands and boy bands and it sounded good with majority of them. If the tracks are not mastered well, like a lot of metal music, then it will sound bad. Thanks for watching and commenting.

best price effort you will be able to get.
Awesomeness. Thanks for the impressions.
Do they have a different sound wired? Benefit from an amp and 24bit flac files ?
How do these headphones keep up with working out in the gym and cardio like hiking or bike riding? Are they sweat resistant?
I actually didn't test them that way. I prefer to use IEM in those use cases. Sorry.
Dave, please stop teasing and share your metal playlist used for testing these 😉
I didn't use a specific playlist. I tested with the various artists and albums I always use plus some recommendations from friends on Discord. I'm sure my list isn't up to snuff with true metal heads.
I don't recall every artist and album off the top of my head but it has a lot of variety. Some artists I remember:
Metallica, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Zombie, Pantera, Skillet, Stryper, Petra, John Schlitt, Alice Cooper, Alice in Chains, Apocalypto, Audio Adrenaline, AWOLNATION, Black Sabbath, Creed, DMX, Duran Duran, Eclipse, Finntroll, Green Day,
Guns N Roses, Iggy Pop, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Kutless, Massive Attack, Megadeth, Mozart Heroes, Nirvana, Ozzy, Pearl Jam, Phish, Stone Temple Pilots,
Switchfoot, Tangerine Dream, Tears for Fears, The Re-Stoned and many others.
@@TheHonestAudiophile haha Duran Duran in that list
Can't argue with any of these picks !
@@TheHonestAudiophileyou need to check out some modern metal, my guy 😅
@@drnkds Only slightly suspicious of the almost entirely Alphabetical order of the list... I appreciate his effort though
Confusing comment.
5-46hz is huge, even cutting that to 10-23 would only be heard by the youngest of ears, distortion is what I would like to know about
I on the other hand want complete isolation from the outside world..haven't found one that can do that, so how do they compare to Sony's / Apple /Bose, best?
I've not used Airpod Pro.
I look forward to hearing your impressions.
@rockingirl_82 thanks for the impressions
Ive seen heaps of reviews and comments from people saying they are havyling lot of issues with them but HEAVYS message them and say all the issues are fixable with updates and tweaking of the settings? I was wondering if you have experienced any troubles or issue with them?
I have had no issues with my HEAVYS. I don't use them on a regular daily basis but when I do use them, no issues.
great job
Thanks 🙏
How do you think these would do with high action video games and movies? Lots of explosions, gunfights, etc?
I play mostly racing sims, sports games but I find the Heavys to be good for my limited gaming. I do use them wired instead of wireless when gaming.
Will this headset operate without battery power if connected via the physical audio cable? I'm thinking of the longevity of the device (not being dependent on battery life).
Yes they do work without power. You can also use ANC when wired if battery is charged.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Great news. Thank you sir!

I've not heard the Momentum 4. But I think the HEAVYS are good for metal. Sorry I can't compare.
Volume can be adjusted in Android in developer options.
I've not heard Grado 325 in about 5 years.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Hey I have a quick question, how do these sound if I’m listening to some jazz standards and Latin jazz?
Jazz music will be warm and lush, somewhaat bloated sounding at times. It isn't the worst sound for jazz and it is something I can tolerate but there are better options. These are intended for rock and metal listeners.
The thing I hate constantly seeing is people are saying they don't get loud enough. Which is the worst thing you can do for your hearing.
I know that on Android devices you can disable the safe volume settings in developer options. Also some phone maunfacturers, ie.Samsung, have settings that can be adjusted.
I agree that listening at higher volumes does damage ears. Here is a link to a write-up I did on the subject:
www.thehonestaudiophile.com/post/how-loud-is-too-loud-does-it-sound-better-an-honest-audiophile-listening-level-challenge

I'm a metalhead, but I'm young (meaning I can't promise I'll stay a metalhead forever, I would say I'm kinda an audiophile? Do you have the eq curve for the frequency response? A lot of headphones claim excellent frequency response but then you find that the lows start to roll off at 60-80 hz and the highs do the same at 16khz. Also, what's the SPL? I'd love to see an SPL over 100 dB.

Wow very interesting product, but from the super affordable price and so many features offered I would assume they are made in China? Well they could be made in Vietnam, Thailand or Malaysia too, which I don't really mind but usually only by manufacturing in China you can sell at this price.
Made in Germany
@@TheHonestAudiophile holy, that is amazing! I really love products that is made in their own country instead of oursourcing to China. Amazing how they could manage to get the price that low with the features offered + made in Germany too!

Were the wires USED or something??
They should be folded together with a tie of some sort, these look like they were just crumpled up and tossed in the box.

Not really, if you listen to genres that aren't bassy focused it will not be as pleasurable.

Thanks for watching and the impressions.
@@mavrc I gather there may be an app, so if there's the option to mess with the EQ, there may be hope.
@@mavrc I had exactly the same experience. I love everything about them except their complete lack of response above 1khz.
