I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and remember when they filmed this movie there. I attended Madison East High, a few blocks from Hartmeyer Ice Arena where the hockey games are filmed. The movie used west side High schools (West Regents and Memorial Spartans). I miss the 80's, they seemed like simpler times.

I saw this when it aired ( I was 10) and it resonated with me. Yes, I concur as I miss the simpler, more gentle 80's as well.

What happened to this country? Remember when this is how tv was? And it’s nothing to do with politics, it’s about spoiling kids. Just look at something as simple as youth sports and how parents act at not only the events but even the practices. This young man portrayed as a high school student given the room to make his own decisions and his parents having enough faith in the way they raised their kid to make adult decisions. To much control and ZERO trust which has continuously deteriorated our youth year after year to where a 30 yr old man don’t act as grown as a high school student from not to far ago. It’s extremely sad to watch this and know this used to be the norm and look at what we’ve got today.

@@jenniferwilcox9759There’s no comparison. The way drunkenness affects a person is far more damaging to themselves and the people around them than smoking. Yes, smoking eventually takes its toll, but alcohol wrecks the quality of your whole life, all the way through (if it’s not used in moderation) and it’s the cause of numerous deadly accidents, as well.

I ended up smoking cigarettes for 32 years before I quit 8 years ago. I have never tried a recreational drug and although I drank socially out at clubs when I was younger, I never drank at home nor was I ever an alcoholic. I never even had a glass of wine with dinner. I haven't had a drink since 2010 simply because I don't go out in that kind of social way anymore. Gateway drug my foot!
