- Cyprus marks 50 years since Turkish troops invaded the Mediterranean island, with comments from the Turkish and Cypriot leaders demonstrating the stark divide that remains. The invasion led to the conquering of one-third of Cyprus and displacement of about 40 percent of the population.

Turkiye is a guarantor country in Cyprus. The Greeks committed genocide against the Turks and the Turks carried out a peace operation to protect their compatriots from massacre. The Turkish Republic of Cyprus is an independent state and this is a concrete fact that will never change until eternity. You can accept it or not. Facing the truth will save you from sadness :)

You guys like it or not, truth is after Türkiye's movement peace come for both sides South and North. Yes, the island was divided into two, yes, thousands of people lost their lives on both sides during the intervention, but the result is clear. Peace. Even though our Southern friends still do not want to accept this, Türkiye's intervention saved them from the junta yoke and made their democracy work. Another fact is that a united, single Cyprus cannot go beyond being a dream. You have to get used to it. Cheers!

The north is populated by Turks and the south by Greeks, that's how it is. The Greeks attempted a coup and persecuted the Turkish Cypriots and failed miserably.

Last time Greece demilitarized an island at the request of turkey was Cyprus in 1967. It removed a brigade meant to protect the island in case of a turkish invasion.
What happened? Turkey grabbed the chance and invaded the island of Cyprus occupying it ever since.
Now they ask the same for the Aegean islands after they have already positioned an army next to them which (according to their own words) boasts the strongest amphibian assault units in the area. Make your own conclusions...
