Ive been saying it when they started this whole ICO thing and I'll say it now. Teamplay and the ability to hold your weapon properly are not mutually exclusive. team play cannot be brute forced like that just by making the individual gameplay just less fun. there are games out there that heavily favor teamplay all while having COD like aiming mechnics. the issue of bad gameplay lies in the nature of team organization and servers/ teams being so very temporary, you cannot build a cohesive squad that knows how to work together within a 45min game session. a party system e.g. is long overdue
Not being able to sight and aim at a target after running a 50m in 8.1 without shaking like Michael J Fox was BS. I'm glad they made the changes in 8.2
As somebody who’s been playing consistently, the game is still very much team oriented and hasn’t at all become more individualized I totally disagree with that idea. Playing as a team is literally the only way of winning games, inleast in the more experienced servers like 7th rangers quick silver. It’s also just as hard to run and gun you will always lose a direct fight against multiple people enemies.
Bout to hop in to a game right after watching this. Been super happy with the ICO changes. The game feels incredible right now. I understand the need for teamwork, but having a much less crabby squad has been more than helpful.

Jumped back in squad recently without really knowing the changes that have been made. Felt like I was suddenly an expert because I was able to headshot enemies consistently and actually hit what I was aiming at in firefights. WAY more fun than previously. I also played back in the earlier days and i never realized how much the changed gun mechanics made the game annoying to play. I just thought i was a bad fps player for a bit.
Started playing Squad a month before ICO. Ended up only starting to enjoy it when ICO released. 8.2 is a welcome change to weapon handling. Weapon stability should be better or worse depending on the environment around you (aiming over wall, against wall, laying down, crouched at a log/low wall… Anyone who has shot while exhausted can attest to how much a supported firing position aids in weapon stability. Red orchestra did this concept very well.
I think the amount of players that actually want to work together will remain. It's a good update to fix the stamina and the guns it was getting painful trying to aim after sprinting or getting shot
Imo it looks like they are learning from the very immersive bodycam-like gunplay. Adjusting inertia and camera effects can have a great deal on immersion and the feel of shooting
I'm so sad they're getting rid of the ICO. It was so fun not being one shotted from half a mile away. It was so realistic. For y'all saying it was unrealistic tell me with a straight face that you, even with military training, could: 1. walk for miles through the heat or freezing cold, with multiple layers of clothing on and 90+ pounds of gear 2. holding an unwieldy 7-10 pound rifle 3. Sprint 60m through an active firefight, into a position where you are exposed to enemy fire 4. Calm yourself, shoulder the rifle, get the scope picture to appear, which is really hard, especially if you're breathing heavily or you're super stressed (The scope looks completely black from most angles). Then stabilize it and THEN finally center it on your target, all within a couple seconds. No, no one can do that. Its why most modern military engagements have relatively low casualty rates (and most of those are caused by artillery), because aiming a rifle in a battle is really really hard. For example, 43,000 Americans landed at Omaha Beach while it was still being defended, and at most 5,000 were casualties. That means that on open ground, with the enemy at relatively close ranges above you, with machine gun emplacements, and heavy artillery bombardment, the casualty rate is around 11 percent. This is proven time and time again, in battle after battle. People, even soldiers, are simply not physically capable of the call of duty like accuracy and stamina that was in the game two years ago. I don't think this is such a bad thing, it is a game after all, but for the love of god, don't say it was "realistic."
I'd say the problem in Squad was never the ICO itself, it's that Squad has designed ALL it's other mechanics to be a marathon walking simulator, where sprinting everywhere is required, and then PUNISHED players for it. Put the ICO on a medium, infantry only map, it would be fantastic But all the ridiculous mega maps they've designed for heli and tank players only? The minimum HAB distance and proxxy system? Slow transport trucks that cost tickets? Literally what did they expect. This game used to be so much better when medium maps, and maybe an APC, were all we had.
Last time I touched this game it didn't matter how much stamina I had, every gun fight felt like RNG and horrible. I could be at full stamina and still have to wait several seconds to line up a shot. All it did was encourage people to camp in bushes, which is all I saw the last time I played. Last game I played was easily the most boring experience I've had with Squad, where no one would push because everyone was camping and waiting for the other team to push. I watched tanks from both sides get bush whacked because no infantry would push up to support. I literally watched half a squad crawling because they wanted a better chance at firing back while they tried to flank at a snails pace. Spoiler alert, they all died without getting within 100m of the point. I was picking people off with iron sights at 200-300m easier than I was with an ACOG while they were simultaneously firing back at me. I had gun fights where I was 5ft from an enemy and we both couldn't hit jack shit because of noodle arms plus the suppression effect. This is a video game, not real life, it's supposed to be fun. None of what I mentioned was fun by any means for me. Everyone has different likes, but in the 1800hrs I played this game for, that period of time was easily the worst experience I've had with Squad.
LMAO they reverted all their work and went back on their word in the og devlog where they said "we want to stick to our original vision" and yet ever since the ICO they just make it easier and easier every patch. The game is about team play and that as the main goal of the ICO, and it succeeded. Now they have introduced all of the problems the game had a year ago, but now we have fancy scopes. The game isn't really supposed to be accessible to everyone only those willing to coordinate, and at the moment that is like 10% of the player base. super upsetting but it is what it is, I haven't heard a peep in the 3 games I Played even in local chat.
Speaking as someone that plays with a milsim group for Squad, the first ICO nearly made me quit even WHEN playing with a team. It made the guns so hard to control it was no longer fun. I don't think making the guns more usable is going to get rid of teamplay, it's just going to make it that much more effective. It's gonna go back to feeling like pre ICO Squad where, sure, a crazy good solo player can do some cool stuff but a team that can reasonably hit their shots and have some semblance of cooperation will bulldoze an uncoordinated enemy.
He said "I just clowned a guy" After scalping a fellow with a sniper rifle after running, stopping and aiming . . . IDK why but I found that quite funny mate.

Jeff Nippard mention 1:14 hell yeah
32:30 don't lie to us, Slorgs
lol that 30:00 was tense. Waiting for the APC to move before shooting point blank infantry.
The Discord event link isn't working for me :/
I also put their discord server below, the event is on their discord
OML I didn't know you were in the Favela server doing a sponsorship. I was the one that built all that on the statue xD. Sorry for ruining the shot
Come to Brazil!
Really nice video! I will buy Squad now!
Started playing Squad a month before ICO.
Ended up only starting to enjoy it when ICO released.
8.2 is a welcome change to weapon handling.
Weapon stability should be better or worse depending on the environment around you (aiming over wall, against wall, laying down, crouched at a log/low wall…
Anyone who has shot while exhausted can attest to how much a supported firing position aids in weapon stability.
Red orchestra did this concept very well.
Loved that ad! Everyone should try the favela mod
How are you zooming in the scope? or is that a video edit? They should update with drone wars.
Zooming is done in the edit
What is the difference between Squad and Squad 44? Both by the same developper, but released two years apart..
Just picked up a PC, cant wait to get into squad!
I think the amount of players that actually want to work together will remain. It's a good update to fix the stamina and the guns it was getting painful trying to aim after sprinting or getting shot
Promise I like your videos it was me that was next to you on the roof I was karma😂
Im gonna play this game again thanks for this video
Imo it looks like they are learning from the very immersive bodycam-like gunplay. Adjusting inertia and camera effects can have a great deal on immersion and the feel of shooting
If you have a NASA computer, yes this is a great time to play SQUAD
Big
Huge
bigbigbigjeff???
the sorta celebrity??
neat
We are in the presence of a legend
I'm so sad they're getting rid of the ICO. It was so fun not being one shotted from half a mile away. It was so realistic.
For y'all saying it was unrealistic tell me with a straight face that you, even with military training, could:
1. walk for miles through the heat or freezing cold, with multiple layers of clothing on and 90+ pounds of gear
2. holding an unwieldy 7-10 pound rifle
3. Sprint 60m through an active firefight, into a position where you are exposed to enemy fire
People who complains about ICO are airsoft nerds or flat range neckbeards who never actually fired a weapon while in combat and wearing kit
All of this for fucking what you wrote this word vomit for no one to care and almost nothing to change on squad it’s still the same
I'd say the problem in Squad was never the ICO itself, it's that Squad has designed ALL it's other mechanics to be a marathon walking simulator, where sprinting everywhere is required, and then PUNISHED players for it. Put the ICO on a medium, infantry only map, it would be fantastic
But all the ridiculous mega maps they've designed for heli and tank players only?
@@SONNENKVLT you've never fired a weapon in combat
How about an update where you don't have to click Switch Team 100x to play with your friends?
so its begun the simplification of the game in 5 years this will be a battlefield clone.
In Latam we keep playing 24/7, whit this update more people join us
I think increasing individual agency is a mistake. If I want individual play I’d play Insurgency sandstorm, RS2, etc.
I disagree. I've played this game for over 1600 hours. It was better before the first ICO update.
@jekkenburg5480 better how? People running around, no communication, no tactics, 1 man locked squads
How does he zoom in so much? Seems useful to learn.
Its great again im coming back to it
Gets better when you play the Global Escalation servers!
Atleast in Project Reality, you were a laserbeam if you were situated and bipod'd up as an MG/AR class.
Nahhhh i missed the game haven t played in months now its time , downloading it again RIGHT NOW
He said "I just clowned a guy" After scalping a fellow with a sniper rifle after running, stopping and aiming . . . IDK why but I found that quite funny mate.
Before the the update that brought the original combat overhaul I had about 900 hours. Since then I have 1095 hours. I still loved the game, but it just didn't feel the same. Definitely trying the update.
