- In this Music Video Matchup, Mark and Ricky put Genesis's music video for "Land of Confusion" up against Disturbed's music video for their "Land of Confusion" cover to see which one comes out on top.
Both of these videos are amazing. The original Genesis music video features a full puppet cast that was created by Peter Fluck, Roger Law, and Martin Lambie-Nairn from the UK show "Spitting Image."
And the animated video for Disturbed's version was created by Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn.

At the end of Genesis's video there is a shot of the Pope playing guitar. They wanted it longer, but were advised it would offend too many Catholics. Satire! Love how Phil Collins has a self-deprecating sense of humor. He is unafraid. Disturbed is great but takes it heavier. Like Both. MORE Genesis, cuz this was a great review with a lot of good background tidbits.
Yep, that’s Prince… notice Pete Townsend of The Who when Phil Collins sings ‘MY GENERATION will put it right’. Classic song, original wins for me. 🤘
Yeah, I'm with you on the music. I'm not sure where I'm at on the video. Genesis is utterly freaky.
To me it's a great revolution sound. Genesis was the Cold War and the times. Disturb is the people with the money and power.
That's a great way to look at it. And what a testament to the original song that it's still relevant today. Kinda sad though I guess too.
I’m not a fan of the cartoons generally but the puppets really did creep me out and I was 19 when I first saw it. Musically they were equal although I liked the Disturbed vocals better. My vote is Disturbed.
Yeah, this is a tough one. I think if it was just the music, I'd go Genesis hands down just because of how iconic that song is. But I'm with you. That damn video creeped me out as a kid and still does!

That's the thing that really freaked me out, man! I'm glad I was stoned or too drunk when that popped up on the screen! Terrifying!

I always HATED the Genesis version. I mean hate like liver and onions. I mean visceral reaction like tongue kissing your own mom.
Genesis had just given up at that point.and this fu##ing video will give you nightmares worse than your abuela telling you that the cucui is going to get you and eat your face, while you sleep, if you tell a lie or act up.
Not sure if you know about the cucui but ask Ricky or Ladi. Scary AF

HA! Good lord, man you REALLY hate that version! But you're right. That damn video is just really creepy as hell. And oh yeah, man I know about the cucui!
