I write this only six minutes into the video: Aw, man! As soon as I saw the background I knew where you were, and I miss it SO BAD! Haven't been there in 2 years, and to top it all off I usually set up my trailer where you've got yours! I am 27 years old, and I instruct in the Allegheny Region Porsche Club of America. I started at 16.5 at PittRace doing non-club events, then club events at 18, and began instructing at 22. My dad and I share a 1986 944 Turbo with moderate upgrades (roll cage, seats, harness, wheel, slicks, suspension, bushings, ECU, strut tower brace, rear seat delete, 3" race exhaust. My best time there in that car (approx 290hp) was a 1:35. Have fun with that Vette!

Mid Ohio is such a great track. I'm old enough to have watched the Can-Am cars absolutely hammering it down the back straight. Ran GP bikes myself there a few years back, one of my favorite RR tracks.

Back in the very early 90s I joined SCCA and ran my daily driver 88 Cavalier in H Stock Solo II with hopes to get into some sort of club racing and maybe "get discovered" (I believed that myth then). I eyed formula vee hard because I had experience building air cooled VWs. I was trying to do all this as a hobby while a poor college student with no support from anyone else. Closest I came was going to look at a vee rolling chassis someone I'd met autocrossing was selling. Didn't go through with it because I simply didn't have the money. I sometimes wonder what might have happened if I'd found a way.
I really love what you're doing Casey. hopefully I can get the time off to come up to Road America and just say hi to everyone and check the cars out in person.
Great track video. Love the chaos. Love the speed with which everything happens - and the crew will get used to it with practice. Nothing like a planted rear coming out of a turn. Was interesting to see how tight of a range the RMPs stayed in over the lap. And I could listen to that engine go all day, sounds glorious.
This track is one of the few things I miss about living in Mansfield. We volunteered every summer for almost a decade. Never missed a vintage race weekend. The car is sounding great. I am excited to see your videos from Road America.

How great to hear that engine once again. Hard to tell for sure (can't tell your throttle position from the video) but under what I suspect to be partial load between 4000-5000 rpm it sounds like you've got a little bit of a miss.
So at 12:45, is that just a "confidence tap" or do you actually get knock-back in the brakes (maybe from taking some exit curb)? I'm "guilty" of the former even though I've never run into knock-back in my track-driven street car. Love the track content and cool to see you wheel that 'Vette around. Good luck at RA! I'll be driving within a stone's throw of Genius Garage on the way to Waterford Hills that same weekend :)
I love it when she's blowing on my junk. Btw, that looks like my Longacre pyrometer. I generally adjust my pressures 1psi hot for every 3* off in the center. Ie, inside 174, mid 180, outside 175, I'd drop it (180-174)/3=2psi. It'd be cool to meet you if you get (back) down to Sebring.
Interpose between the NACA duct and the exhaust inside on the driver, a 3D printed impeller blower powered by a small alarm 12v battery with a Johnsons 545 motor. If you make it about as big as a dinner plate, you can then mount a filter on it, and remove dust from the equation. Overall weight under 2 kg.

Not sure if the rules allow it but have you considered using tire pressure relief valves? They mount into the wheel and can be calibrated to a desired max pressure. As tire temperatures increase they bleed off excess pressure allowing for more consistent handling over time.
They can speed up communication recording tire temps by having a pre-set plan on the order of tire temps taken. If they guy shouts 12 tire temps, the other guy recording them should already know what order they are being taken and record them as such. OR have the thermometer store the 12 temps and auto-upload them to a database.
There is an actual technique to probing the tire, you dont just stick the needle in at 90 degrees...and there is also a technique in how long the probe needs to be in the tire to get a proper reading. Also...tell the driver to turn the wheel to facilitate probing the tire ;) Cant wait to see the RA video, its a hell of a track!
Please give reflective safety vests to the media personnel (photographers and recorders), it will be much better for everyone (this is what we do here in rally, hillclimb and trackdays). Wonderful video, hope you guys climb to the highest steps constantly.

Reflective and fluorescent; it would be better for photographers to wear these high visibility vests as a safety precaution more than anything else, they might even be allowed to sit in more risky areas to get better shots if they are visible enough; event organisers can have their work made easier if they can identify the media personnel.
