- With our Back Roads & Hmong Villages Laos travel series now complete, I had the opportunity to sit down with Claire and Jeremy of Cambodian based RUclips Channel "For Riel" and get their thoughts on travelling Laos in comparison to traveling their country of choice.. Cambodia. We discuss the basics from accommodation, transport, food and comparative costs between the two countries and even some discussion of how easy it is for a retirement visa in Cambodia. A very relaxed discussion highlighting the first trip we embarked on together.. I hope you enjoy the video. Cheers

Thank you to everyone who watched this series. It was as much fun as it looks on the videos. Thank you Todd, Neenee and Mina for welcoming us and allowing us into your lives for a couple of weeks. 🎉❤😊
No wuckers mate, was awesome having you guys along... anytime!

Go and check out Claire and Jeds channel www.youtube.com/@ForRiel
Neenee & Mina we miss Aunty Clair & Uncle Jet because so much fun travelling together last trip 👍🥰
We also miss you 💞
Todd said Mina can have as many ice creams she wants!!!
So nice to see you guys compare notes on the two countries. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun traveling together. Todd, maybe you could return the favor and travel to Cambodia.
One thing I would like to mention is : There is no country in the world that is without its problems. The Hmong Series was outstanding. Great Work ! All the best. 👍👍 Jim and Harriet
Siem Reap is an amazing place, have been 4 times prior to covid.. Cambodia is a special place
Was Clair a school teacher before in Australia. I hope it doesn't insult her but she comes across as a teacher.
Wow, great video that I've been waiting for for some time. I've been meaning to go to Laos again and it is on my agenda.
Todd, you are thinking of coming to Siem Reap? I sure hope I meet up with you guys (I'm sure I will).
Thanks for all the videos, I wait for them all week long.
Keep up the great work !!
Hi Kelly, are you their number one fan? 😀
now in Lao (and Travels on Toast when they were still there) made me travel multiple times to Laos. Autumn in Asia is the reason I want to go back to Siem Reap and the reason my wife is going there next week ❤
Great chat Todd , Claire & Jed -
Beautiful Aussie folk that luv giving back to local people - Thanks as always for the videos
🙌✌️✔️👍👋🍺🙏
Thanks ANT.. hope ya been well mate 👍
Aussies are easy to please and used to dirt roads and dust. Bushyboy Oz.
Thanks for the wrap up and comparison between the two countries. Really interesting.
I'm currently doing a Trusted Housesitters' gig in the USA and highly recommend this British website. My experiences have all been positive.
My Lao friend's two year old niece was run over and killed by a truck on one of those dirt roads in a Hmong village. Those trucks are seriously dangerous and I can see why driving takes so much concentration for Todd and why you always want to be off the roads before dark.
NGO keeps 90%🤐@34:00 pour the another beer!
Love the Ice in the beer, prompted me to make some tea to close out the last 20 minutes of the video. Tum!
Very normal to have Nam kon (ice) with beer in Laos as the beer isn't normally refrigerated
I really enjoyed your video very much, thanks!
I love watching Todd, Mina and Neene I never miss their videos +.
Great video series. thanks to you all - Todd, Nee Nee, Mina, Claire & Jed. I have done one trip a 18 months ago (with my Lao GF at the time) on the back roads and it is definitely worth it 200% !! But you need to be ready for the quality of the roads - and even more for those crazy, big, fast mining trucks. Driving is hard concentration and stressful. But like everything, you get what you pay for !! Totally worth it ! Keep it up guys, masterful content ! ❤💯💢
Cheers mate 🍻
Hey! I've been subscribed to those guys for a while. Rielly I have.
Lovely video. Nice to see you all together. I kind of feel that I know you all already, after watching a ton of your videos on both channels. Can't tell Jeremy that you sent me to their channel because I've been subscribed for a while now. I'm actually going to be in Siem Reap in a couple of weeks time. I'd be happy to shout both Jeremy and Claire a beer when I get there if they have time. I'm thinking about doing a retirement visa in Cambodia next year so this trip will be to check the place out and see if it really is what I'm looking for.
🤗🙏🏼!
Nice couple. Great interview, enjoyed it, thank you.
Have a great day.

Great seeing you all together😊 great info. I loved Seim Reap, I rode my bike everywhere, up to 100 kms a day waterfalls, visiting tiny villages tipping peopl😊e😊😊😊
I live in Cambodia, I just discovered Google lens. Seems to work very well translating script. Menus etc.
Loved the Unimog episode.

Hey big fella. How long does it take to get from Brissy to GC at 4 to 5 on a Friday arvo?
Great vlog Todd. Excellent information about both countries from Claire &Jed. Some big differences. Missed Neenee and little Mina. Thanks for sharing.❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Great video....
That's what I call living your life get together with your friends and talking about the good old day
👍👈🍺that’s a great chat ! Guys!
You need a Gecko Bug Zapper Todd get one sent. Bunnings stock them..
I would be very interested to know why they were turned off Australia after their return for 6 months. Was it cost of living or other reasons.....??
Beerlao is the best beer Thai Cam Lao ... Laos to me s far and beyond a better life for the people, i cycled through Cambodia and the difference between Laos and Cambodia is extremely apparent when you are talking quality of life, Cambodia is very harsh, some of the sights i saw were heartbreaking
I am watching this video and reading your comment while wearing a Beer Lao t-shirt 😊

Hey, great vlog Todd, Do you happen to have contacts or a recommendation for a company that provides babysitter or nanny services in Laos (luang prabang)? I am asking for a fellow Aussie friend who is a single mum there looking for an affordable sitter.
Has she tried asking on the local Luangprabang Expat FB page.. that would be her best bet. I can't help, sorry
@@NowinLao Thanks I will mention it
👍👍👍
Nice couple. Future mining contracts probably need to require paved roads within the villages. I assume that Laos is getting royalties for the minerals that are exported. If a contract requires too many infrastructure improvements, then the royalties in a well negotiated contract will go down. I have known Lao people since 1975. I first visited Lao in the early 1990s and have lived here since 2001. I am amazed at the improvements in the lives of regular people during that time. It is not perfect but good things are happening in Lao. Celebrate the good and hope for better. 🙏🙏🙏
👍👍👍👌👌👌
The reason there is predominantly one beer in Laos is because BeerLao is perfection. 🍺
By the way re: the beers - one massive advantage Cambodia has are the ring pulls on the cans.
$0.55 upfront, but at least 50% seem to win a free can. The delightfully named "Krud" is the most lucrative. Recently I bought 4 cans, and from the freebies I won, and successive freebies on those freebies, my 4 paid beers ended up being 21 cans, at around a cost of 11 cents each. Killing two birds with one stone - the alcoholism *and* the gambling addiction!
Did the big fella break the chair? lol
Kinda funny the elephant in the room that nobody mentioned was the mozzies so how many litres of bloody did you lose on this video
Hey Todd, I’m sure beerlao is up there with the best beers around. Nev
hi guys
