This series documents my attempt to ride a unicycle 674km across the entire width of Latvia. I’m alone and unsupported, wild camping along the way. If this wasn't challenging enough I'm also sticking exclusively to an off-road hiking route, named the Baltic Forest Trail! (This trail also goes through Estonia and Lithuania. One of the things I love most about your series are the interactions with locals. It shows just how much kindness really is in the world.
I have been in the country too by my job like 10 years ago. And yes, I had the same experience. Lovely people. I think, needing to deal with less people is lowering the chances of anger growing up inside you. I love to be left in peace.
@@marcfuchs6938 I think that is a big part of it indeed. Though it's also cultural partly as people in Norway or Sweden, tend to be on their selves a lot and are a bit less kind so to say if you disturb the peace. haha But yes, I probably will move house soon from the Netherlands as I'm getting quite agitated over here.
There are amazing people in each countries and what those simple videos also demonstrate is that most people have no reason fto fight against each others, all simple people got to fight against their political guides cause that's where things start ... always.
I came to the comments to say this exact same thing.
@@davidniquot6423yep: hate the governments* not the people they're governing, even if those people have been deliberately misled by the propaganda they're fed by their masters.
(*including your own)
I went to Latvia this year too. I spent two days hiking the section of trail you rode between Cesis and Sigulda and then spent the rest of my week exploring other parts of the country. Latvia doesn't often feature on holiday-goers lists, but I had one of the most enjoyable weeks of my life in this incredibly beautiful, historically fascinating, and culturally brilliant country! I can't recommend Latvia enough!
I think it's awesome for it not to be on the radar of many, still places you can truly hike around while not bumping into a lot of others.
arent there dangerous bears or wolves??
@@GodAtum not really
@@GodAtum Wolves super unlikely, in the Eastern part of the country a small chance to stumble upon a bear - in the Western part close to none.
Every time it cuts to another angle of you riding along, I always think of the reality of you having to set up the camera, ride past and then go back for it. Must of been so much more time/work/effort 😅
thanks Ed, nice to have you back suffering again for our entertainment, great stuff
"Gee, I need a way to cook dinner tonight" *passes by an open fire*
they were burning trash.
Fair play to you for trying to communicate in Russian. That's hard to do! I think I would've just relied on Google Translate, to be honest...
The area you're in is beautiful. It really makes me feel grateful for the planet :)
What a surprise. Followed you for three years while you worked your way around the world. Was especially excited when you discovered wobbling Wally. Came along on your bicycle and kayak adventures. You have been working hard keeping your channel active. Perhaps your viewers would value you sharing bits of your transitional thoughts and experiences up till now. Not suggesting an emotional purge. Maybe reflections that came after spending 3 years unicycling the world and then standing 'still' for some period. The period after an adventure can sometimes be harder than the adventure.
Latvia picked the best ambassador to show their country :)
Yes Ed Pratt! Really good choice of country, I think the Baltics are underrated
That's still a loooooooong way to go! Hike-a-biking is brutally slow-going.
You're not wrong. Good thing I was in no rush
It's so much fun to watch you go on these adventures. You have an optimistic and open way of approaching the world.
No way, I used to live around your finishing location in the small bordering town of Skuodas! Such a cool idea and I can't wait to see you experience the beauty of Latvia on such a unique mode of transportation. ❤❤
this is the best sequel I could've hoped for. Not only do you unicycle like a beast, but you understand what your audience wants to see. You're videos are always awesome, keep up the good work!
What a fabulous adventure, made even more interesting for me as my late dad was Latvian and I have visited twice. It's such a beautiful country with so much unspoilt wilderness. Can't wait to follow your travels, thanks for sharing this.
You're back in the saddle and cranking things up. Kūhl!😊
The 'matches' woman must have had such a surprise. Watching all of your earlier world trip, it's clear that you have a wonderful ability to connect with people wherever you are.
I'm still impressed by your interaction while looking for a lighter! Impressive how you managed to communicate with her enough to win the trust to show that you were not a mad man (even though this whole mission is a bit of madness...) 🤣🤣
5 years since the round the world trip! Wow...
Yeeeeeeeeah! More Unicycle content! Love it!
Well done Ed, the start can be the hardest part. I am really looking forward to seeing your journey through Latvia.
Fantastic to see you back on the unicycle, even more so since I met you at the Sherborne castle car show the year before last…. A true hero and great presenter….is there a charity this time for us to donate to?
Ed does it again. Letting us take part in a dream we can't follow ourselfes for one reason or another. I am very jealous. I love riding through nature too.
Ed can only produce so much content. Who wants to see more good content of exploring nature, I can recommend the channel of Foresty Forest. A Canadian dude, and we know, Canada is beyond lovely too. Some of the stuff he shows, it's beyond jaw dropping and seriously gives you the wanderlust.
I cannot wait with what kind of crazy idea you come next ! - 👍 keep going
Ed pratt, you are the man lol. I'm knackered just watching this video. I'll be following the series as you progress.
Ahahaaaa love it , after that blowup kayak event you got me motivated too start kayaking again , that from source too sea idea really resonates so im gonna start off with ones closest too me and work my way around all the rivers of the UK
It's so cool to see Ed back on the uni and now he's going on the dirt instead of the road..... Good Luck Ed and keep up the great work. 😁👍❤️
It’s fun to see you back on one wheel Ed! The way you are willing to throw yourself into the unknown is very inspiring. Happy riding!
Awesome Ed!
Love it Ed

Amazing, i am so looking forward to the series
Always excited for your travels Ed.
Sounds like a proper adventure. Looking forward following your journey
Thanks for the inspiration! I've always loved Latvia and visited a couple times as a backpacker and by motorbike, but never knew about this hiking trail. Looks like I have another reason to go to Latvia again! :)
Looking forward to seeing the whole journey.
Ed, glad to see you back at it!
Just amazing. Showing this to my kids first thing in the morning - what kinds of interesting stuff people do and that even a bit outlandish ideas are entirely doable.
Glad you're back on the trail/wheel!
Great to see you back on the unicycle Ed! Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Yey Hey Ed's on the go again! 👍 Happy travels mate
You`re awesome Ed, looking forward to the series 🤩
So happy that you are back on the unicycle. Looking forward to watching the whole trip.
Hell YES!!!! I followed almost your whole journey around the world. It had my so excited for you. I remember telling all my friends and family about it every time you uploaded. It was so impressive. I’m glad you set up another challenge I can’t wait to watch it all go down Ed!! You’re a champion!
I had a couple unicycles when I was younger, they’re extremely exhausting. I’m glad you found a friendly local to get some matches for your first night. I’m wishing you the best luck on your journey.
Yesss! So excited to see this! I’m going in February and I can’t wait!
Love your videos Ed. Always a joy to watch.
Glad to see you back out there exploring on one wheel look forward to watching some more of this series.
Great to see you back on the unicycle, and honestly one of the best sponsors I've seen
very excited for this series, it's amazing how much you can fit into one short episode
Love your adventures, and your unique ways of going about them!
Yay, Ed on tour again! Can't wait to see the next episodes.
In 2006, I took a 6-day, 185 mi (459 km) unicycle ride on the C&O Canal towpath. Shorter and much easier terrain than what you're doing, but your trip is taking me back to camping on the side of the trail, meeting interesting people, admiring nature, and having to find solutions to problems you weren't expecting.
Yes, Ed is back. Cant wait to see more.
Awesome video as always!
Good to see you again Ed!
An awesome first day Ed, the kindness of others is something I love on these kind of adventures. I’ve never heard of the Baltic Forest Trail before but it looks beautiful. I will add it to my hiking list 😊
Ed back on a Unicycle, yay!!
Yay 🎉 been waiting for this .
Best choice with the toadstool 😂
Hallucinogenic and very poisonous. ( but I assume you know that)
so cool! my great-grandfather was latvian, and i never knew how beautiful the baltic forests are! thank you for sharing your journey.
So nice of the lady to give you the matches . Love your video thanks for sharing.
Can't wait for this new journey!!
Thanks for a great idea. I definitely wanna try something similar to yours sometime soon. Love the vibe filled in the video.
Amazing man. Good Luck!
Back doing what you do best. Great Episode, can't wait for the next one.
Good luck and enjoy your trip!
nice, another one of these outlandish trips that sound impossible but are actually not (i dont know what else to call them), i love these things
❤ Hi Ed, I'd forgotten how much joy your round the world videos brought me. As a pre-sleep treat this really put some good thoughts into my weary brain. Thank you so much! ❤
Yeah, Ed is back on a unicycle! I look forward to seeing every episode of this series!
I was just looking at the Baltic States on a map a couple of days ago and wondering about travel through there. So far it looks amazing!
right on, Ed!
looking forward ed, you're good dude
Welcome back fellow unicycler! 🎉 God, I ve missed your videos on one wheel adventures!
Latvia is wonderful, I spent two weeks travelling though Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia a few years ago. People were very welcoming and friendly, and put up with our terrible language skills!
go on ed new adventure cant wait
Only just started watching but gotta say good on you Ed getting sponsored by Latvia Travel. Been to Estonia a few times and always wanted to tour it on my bike and Latvia looks incredible as well!
Glad to see you back at the wheel, Ed !
Loving this content from you, very inspiring👍 As a municycling fan I am looking forward to all Episodes🤟
Wooow! So cool. Greetings from Latvia!
A new adventure I can get behind, lets go!
Here we go!!!
I from Lithuania and watched your world trip last year. Very happy you to see you in Baltic countries 😊
Glad to see you're back on the wheel again . Do you mind if I ask what saddle did you decide on for this wheel ??
5 years ago!!! 😮😮😮
Glad to see you back on the uni! ❤
Your Russian can't be that bad. It worked! I'm so impressed that Latvia Travel have sponsored an adventure such as you. You're doing their promoting for them!
So amazing to be watching you on the unicycle again you inspired me to cycle japan in 2024 april
Another one living the dream! Are you also gonna film the trip? If I did, I would so do that. Seeing the world for yourself certainly is important, but I also see it as important to capture those gorgeous memories and keep them forever for others to see.
Can't wait for the next one!
How am I so late to this, excited to binge this adventure!
looking forward to this series , thanks for the matches kind latvian lady :)
Good to see you’re back! Your new rig seems as if it could use a backpack harness is that terrain. 😊
Amazing that you are getting sponsored by the Latvian tourism organisation.
Good work Ed looking forward to all the videos, Latvia should be interesting as it will be little know to most viewers
Awesome stuff Ed! I am planning a 160km unicycle ride next Easter on the south downs way on similar terrain to this (although not quite this bad) , glad to see it's somewhat possible😂
Gee Ed, it’s so good to see you back in the saddle! 😊
