    That's amazing. SO much hard work done there, but it transformed the neighborhood. The houses next to it are pretty nice, and actually look even nicer now that the house is redone.
    I can't imagine how happy the neighbors are, because you just increased the value of their home, literally.

      As i'm watching this i'm really impressed with some of the craftsman ship I see. However I cannot believe that there Has been permits pulled and inspection done for the plumbing and the electric and the insulation. So many basic violations as far as the plumbing goes and the installation wouldn't keep out anything. But if that's what code is in that area guess it's done o k.

      I can only imagine how much the debris removal cost them. They had to fill up a bin or two ... or three or four. That house looked like it belonged to a hoarder. Which probably was a good thing in the long run. Kept the vandalism over the years to a minimum. Nobody wanted to go into a house full of debris.

      I have to agree. The only way this project was even viable is that the house was sold for so cheap. Fortunately, there were no major issues with the foundation, roof, plumbing, or even HVAC. All of which would have added huge additional expenses to the project. Did they make a profit? I'm sure they did. But this also came with a huge risk.

      @@LPnerd thats a "new method". Back in the day when i used to do bathroom remodels, it was common to replace the greenboard (which was originally used) with cement board. Green board is only water "resistant" due to a waxy layer applied on the board in manufacturing it. This would eventually fail esp if used in shower locations depending on the mud and grout job of the tile placed on top of the board. "Greenboard" back then was simply drywall gypsum boards with the waxy layer.
      And, i agree - the newer methods (foam boards) are a better in either case

      @davek5777 4 месяца назад

      @@LPnerd Make sure you hire a licensed/registered and insured contractor to do the job. TBH, cement board or even "Hardi board", i would say is a tried and true way to do a tub or shower surround. Before contractors even started using greenboard (which simply is just drywall board) in bathrooms, the old-timers would nail wire mesh to the studs and then actually Trowel on cement to the mesh to about 3/8-3/4" thick. Then, they'd apply tile to that surface once dry. They even did this on the "non-wet" locations in the bathroom. This way was done until the 1970-1980s. And, it was solid. So, cement board imitates this method. I've never been a fan of Pex (plastic water lines) or spray foam (highly flammable). Copper pipes and cement board are two variations that have survived the test of time.

    There are so many differences between the construction of US homes and Australian homes. Most modern brick veneer homes in Australia are either wooden or steel framed with a brick outer. Earlier brick veneer homes were built on brick piers for sloping blocks of land, the newer homes are on a concrete slab, my home is older house (mid eighties) and the floor inside is all hardwood. The interior walls and ceilings are plasterboard (gyprock) but when they finish the interiors , the internal plasterboard and the ceiling board does not meet. The joint is covered by what we call cornice, a curved piece of plasterboard with the corners mitered to give a nice finish.The roofs on most houses are either cement or terracotta roof tiles, a lot of newer homes have a colourbond roof (powder coated tin) or aluminium.Any wiring or plumbing has to be done by a certified tradesman who will sign off on the job. Major renovations have to have Council (local government approval) at a cost and will be inspected and signed off by a council inspector.

    Really was so cool to see. I think any house purchase can turn into one giant economical catastrophe LOL.. but.. these guys made this look so easy! What a great renovation. I love the cherry floors * my favorite redo: The bath with that beautiful white tile install and the strip of pale gray within. Very classy looking. I love the colors you chose .. very clean and nice!

    Quedó espectacular. No obstante, haría un espacio más abierto y colocaría otro baño en la habitación principal. El sótano es muy grande y es un espacio subutilizado.

    Great job👍 btw! I'm dealing with houses that have been impacted by natural disasters and mold is the main factor in the recovery process. Just wondering if you had plaster walls would you have had to replace the walls. I heard that plaster is resistant to mold and mildew. Also cedar wood. Is this true?

    Всё бы не чего, но бросается в глаза странность в очередности действий. Сначала сделать стены и пол, а потом менять окна или сделать забор, а потом расчистка участка.
