so amazing
There is really no reason right now for her to continue the 400m hurdles. She has all the records, gold medals, world champ, nothing more right now to prove except to break 50 sec. Focus on the 400m and break the records their, win gold in the olympics the world championship and then go back to break 50sec in 400m hurdles. ❤
Good plan.
she should focus on 400 and 200 if you ask me 😅
No, she should stick to 400m hurdles which is where she has the most impressive performance. No track and field athlete gives up specific events simply because they have dominated that event and "proved themselves". Quite the opposite, athletes should stick to events where they perform best. It is like telling Usain Bolt after he has completely dominated 100m and 200m, to quit 100m and 200mg and go for 60m or 400m. He would still be a top athlete if he focuses and trains for the 60m or 400m but he may not be as dominant. All these people who want Sydney to give up the 400 m hurdles are Femke Bol's fans who wants Sydney to leave that event so that Bol can dominate and medal continuously. Not happening anytime soon. We want to see Sydney break her 400 m hurdles records, not leave that event for the 400m.
She won't break the 400m WR, you morons. That record was from doping so your princess ain't gonna break it. LoL
Femka Bol is on track to Sydney’s WR time in the 400 m hurdles and is closing in with every race. It’s now an interesting choice to accept that challenge when it was originally thought that 400m hurdle time would stay a long time. I’m sure that thinking led to pursuing one of the other most elusive times in Women’s track and Field. Those events do train differently. It will be interesting to see this play out.
A. Felix was such a joy to watch run. Her stride and turnover was incredible.
So was her speed...
She ran with a limp.
Should be noted that Syd's 50.07 as an 18yr old in college in 2018 was run in terrible rain & windy weather and would certainly have been a sub 50s run in better conditions. For Syd to do the Olympic 400m/400mH/4x4 Triple, she'd have to run 1 race a day for 7 days straight from Day 4 to 10 of the schedule and that includes skipping the 4x4 Prelim on the morning of Day 9 to help recover as much as possible from the 400mH Final the previous evening in time for the 400m Final that evening of Day 9! Only complication is Coach Kersee recently talking about wanting Syd & Athing to run the Mixed Relay as well which has the Prelim on Day 2 & Final on the evening of Day 3 before R1 of the 400mH.
Thought the Mixed Relay was for the B team athletes who couldn't qualify for World's.
@@yennox5338 Mixed Relay for the US specifically (cos of how much depth it has) is usually for the athletes who can't get into the main 4x4 quartets for both M & W.

@@BORN-to-Run You think? I missed that part.
Blah blah blah, thanks
You did your research on this one! 👏 Based on her coach's MO, that would explain her performance in that 400, to see how she could carry a WR pace. We all know she is in good hands with coach Kersee. 👍🏼
Wish Kersee would let his runners run more. Where's Mo??
Yep it wasn’t about winning. It was about how much more training she needs to hold that WR pace

Except that in her mini-doc it seemed like she was surprised at how fast she was going in the 200 split, so I think she took it out harder than she tried to.
I would like to see her focus purely on the 400 metres this season. She has already proved herself over the hurdles. There is no need to make her task more difficult than it is. Doing the double could make her vulnerable to injuries.
That’s what she’s doing 😅
@@jojomargaux9295 She is running both.
It's probably best that she tries running both at the age she is now while she's at her fittest..... Then go back and concentrate on whatever she wants to run.

She'll do it. I suspect that's why her appearances in this year's season have been limited, she's racing to a season plan that's geared up for the World Champs in August. No human's ever done the double but ... she's superhuman.
Allison Felix had the best stride! 🥇
It's also important to note that Felix was also sick on that day she ran the WC 400m final in 2015.
She still has 10 years of being in her prime. She'll be the world 400 meter record holder soon.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone reminds me of the great Gail Devers who won Olympic and World Championship Gold medals in the 100 meters and 100m hurdles also under coach Bob Kersee. At the 1993 World Championships at Stuttgart Devers doubled and won Gold in both the 100m and 100m hurdles.

I was in Eugene last year. Amazing run to that world record. As a former 440 runner, I believe if she has one full recovery day between the final of one and the start of the second event that she can achieve the double. I remember Juantorena doing the 400/800 double and believe she has that same level of talent.
I looked atr her performance with fresh eyes when she said that she had been testing how it would feel to really get out. I was really impressed with how long she was able to maintain her form before really tying up in the last ~30 meters. I fully expect her to break 49 seconds by the end of US Nationals.
Femke Bol did the 400m/400mh double at the European Championships and won both. If she can do it in a (an admittedly smaller) competition, I think Sydney Mclaughlin can do it at the world championships.

@@adrianbjones Thinking that a 400 - 400h double was impossible.
The great white hope
The good news for Sydney is - she's 1-2 seconds faster than everyone else in the 400mH even on a bad day. She doesn't have to go for WR every race - just the win. The real test is the open 400m. If she runs the heats in times to qualify instead of running to win the heats then she can conserve energy for the final.
Also, you should have known Kersee had a plan with that Paris race. His entire coaching career has been playing 3D chess while everyone else was playing checkers.
Considering this is a non-Olympic year, and she already is the world record holder in the 400H she might focus on the open 400m. She is currently ranked 4th in the world in the 400m, but unlike the 400H there are several athletes that could beat her in the open. She isn't strong enough to double nor has anyone ever been.
With Femke Bol giving a hot chase in the 400 hurdles and Mareiledy Paulino breathing down her neck in the 400 open it is a tough ask to dp the double.
It may not happen this year but I have zero doubt that Sydney will eventually hold the world record for the 400 hurdles and the open 400.
She doesn't have the speed of Felix to make it happen. The hurdles are her best bet and marriage will change her body.
@@robertdaniels3029 Marriage has nothing to do with her body. Literally 90 percent of the top female sprinters in the world rn ESP internationally, are married. It has nothing to do with her body. Pregnancy might but she is too young and not focused on starting a family at all.

@@robertdaniels3029 No it doesn't Marriage does nothing to a woman's body ESP if she is a pro athlete. Shelly HAD A BABY that's different. Syd has clearly stated she has focused on her training and Kersee's plan for her which was never for her to race a lot. This is her first year running and focusing on the flat 400 so it's a huge adjustment. We just saw her today drop more time in the open 400 experimenting running a more reserved first half. And we saw Mu open up with a fast time. You literally have ZERO evidence other than your opinion. Saanya got married and STILL ran fast times. No effect on her body. Allyson got married, fast times after and no effect on her body. It wasn't until after she had her baby. I think you are confused with the fact that multiple of these athletes changed coaches. Syd AND Mu both changed coaches, Prandini changed coaches, Keni Harrison changed coaches, SAFP and Elaine and Jackson all changed coaches and with that comes the change in training because every coach has a different method of how they will coach a athlete and how they approach their training. Sometimes the athlete see's instant success but if the training is drastically different and the athlete cannot adapt quickly enough, you will see a bit of a drop in performance before they start to do well again.
There's no way
I think things will be tougher for SM-L in the 400h, as Bol will be gunning for a win!! It would be best to just do what’s necessary to move on to the next round in both events saving any all out effort for the finals!!
Interesting insight. As a big Syd fan I was somewhat disappointed in her recent 400 m flat - but your analysis does shed more light. Cant wait to see her race Femke Bol over the 400 flat given Bol's incredible 400 m indoor WR earlier this season.
Go for it, Sydney!!! (I met her. Her awesome husband took our picture. She is humble and determined.) She has an excellent shot at this double.
Britton Wilson also had a slight leg injury as well.
Let's remember that Sydney played second fiddle to Dalilah Muhammad for couple years and once she beat DM, she never looked back and Dalilah is no longer able to compete with Sydney. Some athletes get crushed by losses. Sydney is not one of those athletes. Her losses motivates her to completely crush her opponents the next time.
was not a loss
Sydney is definitely still developing. She 10 years younger than Dalilah who has unfortunately been setback by injuries. Sydney is definitely a future legend!
Let's hope Femke can pick up her game this year and get to 51.50 in the hurdles and 48.75 in the flat 400, so Sydney can have some real competition.
It's hard to run fast when noone is pushing you - And some rivalry would be nice - Sydney might win every time, but if she makes a single mistake Femke should punish her.

TRP, Brilliant video/documentary. Your professional presentation, background research and video clips etc are absolutely first rate. Including your assessment and conclusion regarding top athletes performances being "tested/experimented with" by their Coach during the early stages of a season who is guiding them carefully to an ultimate goal. ie Winning or Record Breaking or BOTH. The fact that it is in two different but similar events just makes it all the more difficult.
Yes, I believe Sydney can do it. Similar type "tests" can be seen with say, an 800m runner at the beginning of a season, running in a 10,000 or 5000. Running on strength/stamina built up during the off-season via Cross Country or Mountain running, then tapering down for the season peak. Similar concept. They both result in the body being at optimin performance in Speed and Strength at the correct time of the season, Championship races. Many thanks, TRP. Cheers.
Please note: This system of "peaking" by Bob K is not possible for athletes competing in NCAA. College Coaches just want maximal effort almost from day one and in as many events as possible, all to earn "points" for their Colleges in Track Meets. That's why I've always been so critical of College Coaches who, let's face it, are paid by the Colleges to get points to win Track Meets in the short term, over developing the athlete long term. Middle/Long distance runners in particular do not (normally) hit their life peaks until AFTER they finish College athletes. NCAA is aimed at 18-25 yr olds so most do not reach max performance until late 20's/early 30's.
I’d like her to focus on the 400 meters this year. More importantly- so excited to see what she does

@@johngreg12 You have a good point, but it happens quite a bit. Sifan Hassan just stepped up to the marathon and won. Fred Kearly dropped down from the 400 to the 100 and won. Allyson Felix added the 100 then moved up to the 400. Shericka Jackson went from the 400 down to the 100 & 200. The truth is if she can improve her 400m time, she will also improve her 400h time. If Femke wins the 400h Championship, everyone will still know it was only because Sydney wasn’t in there. I also believe in another year, Britton Wilson will be giving Femke a run.
@@lasvegas4164 Yes but they still run their main/primary events if they are dominant. They don't give up their main/primary event if they are as dominant as Sydney is in the 400m hurdles. Was Fred Kerley dominant in the 400m? Did Hassan completely give up her primary event?
@@johngreg12 I have heard no indication that Sydney is giving up the 400h. While I’m sure she won’t run both, I think it’s smart to run the 400 this year.
1) it’s not and Olympic year. 2) She has no competition in the hurdles. 3) Every increase she gains in the open 400 will directly help her 400h race. Also another reason more athletes don’t do it is because they can’t win or be competitive in other events. Also if I remember correctly, Fred has run 43.64 and won the diamond league right out of college and went on to get the bronze at the world championships. He showed so much promise.
Against Bol, it could be interesting if she tries the double. Bol is looking good in her first race in the Diamond League.
Would love to see her and Femke Bol meet in 400m
Femke already has the 400m indoor record .
This was a good one. Well-out together. Sent it to my Dad who is a senior runner at 83 due to his former crush on Allison Felix. He's got a beach 5K Saturday morning in San Diego, but his senior group might can catch this race at 10 AM Pacific if they start the after party at a member's house soon enough
I think she will be pushed in both events, it is not a given that she will win either. In the hurdles there is a certain Ms Bol from the Netherlands who is unbeaten this season and looking very smooth. In the 400 flat a number of athletes will be peaking at world's and she is likely to be pushed in the rounds to qualify for deeper in the competition. Each effort will sap strength. I do wish her well, as it would be impressive but she shouldn't discount the opposition and should be prepared to race in any lane as she may not have it all her own way.
Bol ran in 52.29, far behind Sydney, there are no competition!
@@virgilius7036 Hmmm she also broke the longest standing record in track and field history. Dominance is not just about times, you can only beat who you race against. Her victories are very comfortable, which negates the need for fast speeds. Sydney is a class act and may be the best. I am suggesting she will face stiffer competition than a stopwatch.
I've run both and gone through rounds. It's brutal and if you make it to the finals your legs, to the bone, are tired. But, if there is anyone who can make to those finals IMO it would be Syd's. She's almost a full second and a half faster than Bol in the 400H, and the 400H is muscle memory for her. The real test will be in the open 400. There are a lot of really good 400 runners out there. Syd will have to shake them off with a mid-season run of 48.6. If she does that, and does not have tired legs (amazing fitness level), she will end the season with 47.9 as her best time but not in the same outing. Her legs will be TIRED!
Do you have evidence of this 3:29? I found the interview of bob saying this for Syd’s 400m. But not Felix’s. Bc that would be diabolical. What you don’t mention is her next race is the USA championships 2 weeks later. Do you know how insane that would be to have your runner purposefully gas out the penultimate week prior to a major championship? So it’s a bit misleading at best unless you have the interview which I’d love to see. Also keep in mind USA’s are a month later in 2023. So it makes sense for Sue hence the quote.
Additionally, Isn’t this a False equivalency all due respect? What might be challenged is Allyson has ALWAYS tapered very well. Take a look at her Rio cycle over the longer distance. Typical program is 75ish days. Her tune up early June was 51.57. Her Olympic final mid august was 49.51. In 2022 during her world championship final Sydney didn’t even improve 1 second in her cycle, 51.61 to 50.68 & she demolished the record en route.
It’s your position she gassed out by design and she has shown there’s more time to find? I suppose but there’s no evidence to support that. The difference is Felix moved up from the 200. She had already run wind legal 10.89. Syd has never gone into the 11s even with illegal wind. Nor has she broken 22. It makes sense for Felix to use her natural speed and think there’s time in hand. Sydnee just doesn’t have that. I’m talking Olympic final 100m, objectively speaking. So if sprint endurance is her specialty which it is, gassing out only means she’ll have to improve that even more. If anything that’s less of a positive market than a promising one. Again like I’ve said before, I hope she proves me wrong but I’ll reserve such lofty expectations until I see a 2nd race bc there’s not much more to go at 49.7. Never mind the field is much much stronger now than a decade ago.
Probably one of your best and most accurate videos. I've continuously said it was a smart 1st race. She has given no indication that she is going to double and I doubt she will.
She might! Since she has a Bi and won’t have to run the 400mh rounds.
M8, youre wrong twice. There was nothing stated about the wacky 'see how long you can go at WR pace' strategy. She was told to gun it down the back stretch, and with an unplanned fast start (probably caused by some internal confusion having the hurdles missing), she stuck to the strategy she was told and lost stamina in the end. There's no grand trick or display of power or anything like that. Shes just a fast runner whos learning a new race.
Britton Wilson could have pulled off the double. She had BAD shin splints. If you go back to SEC championships through NCAA West Regionals, you can see she was wearing a soft cast on her left leg.
She’ll get it. I have a high schooler that just tried this with about 30 minutes rest. 8th in the 400m, this compromised her 400M Hurdles, she finished 2nd in the hurdles and was only 2 seconds off of her PR.
Man, doing the 400 and 400H in the same championship? Ah! I'd like to see that attempt but I don't see how she can survive that without a burnout. Maybe she can win one but the two? Let's see how it goes though

They did the best thing track and field. They made sure it was possible for one of its stars to attempt something that otherwise would be impossible. By giving her a days to recover instead of about 2hrs, she can actually make a fair effort at it. I can't wait to see it. We often talk about what can we change or do to make track and field more of must see tv so to speak and this is one thing that can help. Adding the track record lights was a great idea. Now altering schedules depending on a star attempting to do multiple events is another.
One of the best comparisons you have made this year about Sydney versus Allyson, and maybe that was in fact Kersee's goal. But the problem with this double is that it really understates the competition in the 400m. Last year, it seemed like an easy event with only Shaunee running anything special at World's. But Paulino kept getting stronger and has run under 49 twice already this year. In addition, there are two other women who are capable of running in the mid 48's, Britton Wilson and Rhasidat Adeleke. Wilson has the same dilemma as Sydney, which to choose. Ideally, they would flip a coin with one going for the 400m and the the 400mh.
Based upon performances so far this year, Wilson, Adeleke and Paulino all seem capable of beating Sydney. But as I think Wilson's performance at NCAA's showed, it isn't just the turn around, it is the cumulative toll on the body of doing all the rounds in both events. Could McLaughlin make it through? Probably. But could she qualify in both and win both, not likely.
I think you will see McLaughlin run a around a 49 flat at USATF, which may or may not win it, depending on what Wilson does (and whether Wilson is healthier than she was at NCAA's.) I think a healthy Britton beats a healthy Sydney at 400m, simply because her high end speed is faster.
The challenge for both is the the day of the 400m final, there is a 400mh semi-final. Sydney could clearly cruise her way to qualifying, but would that take too much out of her legs to put in maximum effort against Paulino and Adeleke? Maybe it is all a Kersee strategy but so far in 2023, I have seen no evidence that Kersee's grand plan is any better than the plan at Arkansas or what ever Bol is doing in Europe.
As a USA fan, I would prefer to see Sydney stick to the 400mh and have a healthy Wilson see if she can break the American record in the 400m, along with a 400m medal.
Fantastic video!!! I love knowing what's going on and why!!! Great research to dig that up for us!!! Many Thanks!!!
My friend in high school was an 800 runner and he use to tie up on the last 100. Then at state meet he went out hard and miraculously didn’t tie up in the last 100 and won and broke the school record.
Following all of Sydney's accomplishments, I also thought "something's up" during the Paris June 9th 400 race . . . . athletes also play "head games" all the time, not winning in a prelim race ("see, you can beat me") and then amping it up to win main event. Question tho; TV said Sydney changed coaches . . .is she still with coach Kersey ?
If you have to run heats for both events in say the Olympics or world championship plus they may need you for relays I just don't think your body could recover to perform at an optimal level to win both finals & that's even missing relays.
Sidney is such an amazing athlete. I think she can not only break into the 47 range of the open 400 meters, but I really think it's possible for her to dip into the 46's. We'll soon she. I think she, Athing, Abby, and Erriyon are 4 of the most exciting American sprinters in the game right now.

Doing the research you did, revealing the mastermind of Bob Kersee, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sydney did both and set WRs in both. If there is a day or two days break in between, it is indeed possible.
Athletes are built different and have access to different training, nutrition and recovery these days.
Case in point right now, Sha’Carri Richardson. The bounce back is tremendous and the hope and prayer is that it’s legit given who her coach is and his history…
If anyone can do it, it's her. She's incredibly disciplined and hard working, and has an immense amount of natural talent and good genetics. So, it might be possible. It's great to see an athlete who recognizes these gifts and takes things very seriously, trying to create history.
She definitely gonna go much faster. She has the world record in her sight. I knew it was an experiment so look to see her switching her racing strategy again until she gets that perfect form..
It's more MENTAL than PHYSICAL and I'm not sure Sidney or anyone can do it at this level. Look at Britton Wilson. She was expected to win 1st in the flat 400M in the NCAA championship - she took 2nd. He mind may have been on the next race (the 400M hurdles). 20 minutes later she was in the 400M hurdles and she placed 6th or 7th - she was expected to win 1st. Bottom line - worrying about BOTH races is a huge focus drain.
I was a 110 hurdles main in my glory days and took up 400 hurdles once. Clearing the last hurdle was the most difficult task ever I've felt and felt like dying. It's like 400 except much harder. I think there is no doubt that the 400 hurdles is the most painful event in track due to having to jump over stuff. However, the jumping forces you to pace yourself a bit. but in the open 400 you are pushing so hard that you couldn't jump if you wanted to. You are so locked up that you would just run through the last two hurdles if they were there. Still I'd rather be locked up totally getting to the finish line rather than being slightly less locked up having to jump something.
@@marjorieanderson8626 Sorry, you are not jumping over hurdle, you are RUNNING, over hurdles so the speed in important to maintain the amount of steps in between each barrier. there is a lot of science here so unless you have run the hurdles, you can ONLY assume. I think Femke should try doubling as well , then we can see this rivalry twice and in my opinion a different winner in both events with Femke winning the flat 400 and Sydney winning the hurdles.
If she’s more focused on the open 400m I think she’ll go under 48 by worlds
I think she’s 49 second runner who has the potential go sub 49.

In Britton’s defense she had only 25 mins of recovery. If she had a couple hours I believe she could’ve pulled it off. The schedule is the key for Sydney’s success in both races. Its an extremely difficult double but Sydney can certainly do it with the right schedule.
Wonder how much not taking first in the 400m played a part psychologically in the 400mH
Britts issue is her injury. I saw her interview with flotrack (?), she said she has had stress reactions all year. She prob should’ve redshirted outdoor to heal n get ready for usa’s & worlds.
@@booharrison1995
This year outdoor she made leaps and bounds.. and asserted herself on the whole worlds radar...
I'm glad she competed this year
Sydney Mclaughlin and Allison Felix are truly legendary. And beautiful.....
Ha! I knew it! I knew it! Had a gut feeling watching your initial coverage of that race that Sydney was trialling.
I think she'll defend her title in the 400 m hurdles. No one else can do it better than her and I doubt anyone has been putting in more off-season work and effort. We've only seen her run the 400 m once but from what she ran I think she can very well adapt and strive in the 400 m.
Given her speed in her season opener of the 400m. She will definitely be running for the record later on in the season. She will be the first person to ever have a 400m and 400m record, but may well hold them simultaneously.
I think the record holder in the 400m was doped to the gills so it will be a tall order to get this WR
If she breaks it, at least we know she’s 100% on steroids
She’s not getting that record. That’s a tall task
@@yungaj6166It was apparent she was on gear based on all her hurdle performances after the pandemic
Definitely NOBODY catching her 400m record, so anything else would be simultaneous.
Yes by the end of the season she will have had records in both the 400-meter hurdles and the 400 m... This beautiful young lady will be the reigning champion in the 400m by the end of the year. Great Video!
Sydney and Allyson also share that smooth beautiful stride form, unlike Paulino who looks awkward, as if she's brake dancing.....but she's still fast. Sydney will get close to 48 flat this year I think.
It occurred to me before that perhaps that is what Katelyn Tuohy did in a recent race, experiment with the boundaries of what is possible for her.
Talking about the short time between Wilson's races reminded me of the single biggest accomplishment in track and field history, the day that J.C. Owens broke five world records and (officially) tied a sixth in less than an hour of real time.
She’ll be on the podium for both. What do the multiple databases show as far as medaling in both at a world championship?
I think she will set new world records for both events.
Shouldn’t it be a “lactic acid” tidal wave instead of a “lactate” tidal wave??
They are two completely (thank goodness) different things.
She will set new records in both. Sydney is the best we have ever seen in track & field.
Hey TRP, you got her name right this time! Just wanted to thank you and acknowledge it 👍🏼
As long as Sydney McLaughlin don't do a "Britton Wilson" who tried the same thing. She ended up not winning anything. That would be very sad.
Sydney ran a great race......once Sydney get's comfortable with the open 400m, Paulino is going to have her hands full, as she relies on her kick the second half of the race......don't know how much longer she'll be able to maintain that type of kick.
She is going to be a MONSTER in both events.
Wish all the best to Sydney for 2+ goals medals ❤❤❤
If 800m type training blocks have been incorporated into her training, we could see something very special unfold
A near impossible task, but if anyone can do it, it would be the spectacular Sidney! Look what great endurance Michael Phelps had in the Olympics. When swimming so many qualifying races. Fast recovery time is the key! There should be byes for fastest qualifying times in preliminaries. Is there?
I think the best thing for Sydney to do is to try this at US trials…Run the 400m open and then attempt the double-she’s already got her ticket to workds for the 400mh so she has nothing to lose in that race. If she runs poorly, guess what , now she knows she has to pick one race and not double at worlds; but she will still have the option. If she waits for worlds to do this, she might end up like britton wilson. Yea she has a day to rest, but Bol can absolutely make an upset if sudney ends up running mid 52s due to fatigue.
She said the same in a post race interview.
I believe that Sydney is fully capable of breaking the 400 meter women's record. It may take a few years but I see her doing it.
Her competition in both events is crazy this year too so even medaling gold and silver in both is solid. If she gets gold in both, her dominance is asserted, Jesus is running those races through her so sorry to Femke and all her 400 competitors.
Please ...... Jesus don't pick no sides in a darn track race, be for real....
What would she or any of her other competitors do to deserve GOD to
choose them over everyone else? Sounds so silly.
Did Jesus run the 400m or the 400Hd?
Not sure what Jesus has to do with structured training, solid scientific training principals and a goal orientated work ethic. Last I read he was a carpenter in sandals, no mention of running ability!
Well Jesus stepped on the line and should have been DQ!
@@user-ji7dm6rw4v read a bit further and his life is amazing.
peculiar Bol is not mentioned; she did the double in the European Championship, with double gold!
Maybe she should also make a venture to the 800. Which when it goes under 2 minutes, physiologically is a sprint.
Without Bol, McLaughlin would have a much better chance of success, but don't think she has enough of an advantage over Bol to win at anything less than her best.
I felt bad for britton Wilson because as hard as a 400/400h double is, it was made harder because of the wind and having to do both finals within 30 minutes of each other. Hopefully, Sydney will have a better chance with better conditions at both the World Championships and POSSIBLY the 2024 Olympics.
And the heat. Heat is a plus for one sprint, but not two in a 22 minute span.
This depends on her cellular memory. And training. We do not know her training technique. Bobby is sure of her strengths. )1) she is the record holder of 400H. (50.68). )2) she is a master hurdler. )3). She is doing some hurdles as part of her stamina workout. )4) my bet is a remarkable run w/Femki Bol and Sydney McLaughlin-Lavorne going for the double. The runners from DR, Bargain, Ireland make the flat 400 be a 3 way race. By time SML IS #1 Flat 400. Sydney made the DR sister have to dig to win. The Barhain sister still has the fire. The entire field will finish below 50 for the first time. 400H has SML being tested by FBI, MAY BREAK 50 FOR FINISHING TIME.
“ one of the most promising athletes right now” she’s the world record holder. She actually destroyed it. She makes it look easy. Promising is the understatement of the century.
This is how a great sports narration sounds. Good focus, good information.
Well, let‘s not forget that Femke Bol did win the 400 flat as well as the 400 hurdles at the 2022 EC in Munich.
Marileidy Paulino 48.98 , Britton Wilson 49.13, Rhasidat Adeleke 49.20, and Femke Bol 49.26 have all ran faster times than Sydney this year. Being the fastest in the 400 meter hurdles doesn't mean she will be the fastest 400 meter runner.
ikr they are praising Sydney way too much and not respecting others athletes like Paulino.
I love the clips of Allyson. She has the most graceful stride.
She’ll win 🥇 both if they’re a day apart 🎉 but will have fierce competition so if she doesn’t pace properly then she could easily fail, but I’m rooting for her 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✅
This video is based off the faulty assumption that she was trying to test out world record pace. In the mini doc they just put out, she said how surprised she was when she learned of the 200 split, and then thought that the race made a lot more sense then. She took it out harder than she tried to. Can still argue that the splits show her fitness, but not that it is part of a master plan
She should focus on winning the 400 and 4x400 this season
Next year focus on defending her 400 hurdles Olympic title
You completely missed that Femke Bol has run the double at the European Champs.
Actually I think Bobby will have her train for both with lots of 500's and 600's in practice. I believe she will concentrate on a new record in the hurdles this year and see how she feels before worlds to decide that. I think that may be a serious attempt next year but probably experimentation this year while putting up a 50.1 or maybe a 49.9 in the hurdles. But with Salwa Eid Nasser, Britton Wilson, Femke Bok, and a few others looking to stop her in the open 400 it may be very unlikely that she will do both at worlds. I wouldn't put money on that though. She is bold and if Bobby thinks she can handle that many races then we may witness some crazy history. If Shawnee, and Dalilah also get themselves into it that open 400 may be a wild one in the world championships. I'm thinking this season it would not be surprising to see her go 48.2 or better though.
Shaunae just had a baby so I doubt she will participate this year.
48.2 is pretty good prediction. That's FAAAAAST. But I too think Sydney will do a 48.x time just not sure it will be quite that low this season. But let's see. I'm excited.
I think she has a 48.2 or better in her under the right conditions and with the right competition. She did s mid to high 47 in the relay and didn't look like she was pushing to hard. They talk about the running start but it's maybe 2-3 steps in the 4x400 I have always believed they should stay in their own lanes that would get the times down. It's a big mess on most of the passes and it's not unusual to see tripling, blocking, and pushing.
Femke bol actually pulled the double off at Europeans last year
Actually a triple win serie; she anchored the 400 relay to victory as well. Five races in seven days and she won them all.
@@hermanmertens8383 yea a double like that on any level is amazing
She ran that 49.7 in flats! Don’t tell me I was the only one that noticed
Wrong! Don't make up things!
Bro she didn’t have flats on. In her vid she posted from race day u see her lacing up her spikes…my homie tried to tell me the same shit 🤦🏽♂️
They look like non aggressive spikes. Like long distance or middle distance spikes but they do really look like just some random low jogger New balances.
Yeah, they are definitely low key spikes. Not like gaudy spikes like they do for 100m events.
@@user-it1ig8fn1rshe wasn’t wearing sprinter spikes. If you know track you know there is a difference in spikes. Even the spikes she wear for 400m hurdles is different that spikes for 400m race because the way the foot strikes the ground.
