  • I have been having some issues with my PCV system on my 1.8t ATW. I couldn't find much information on them so I figured I would make a video showing what I know about them.

    Working on the same car now. 2000 ATW passat wagen. I wound up pulling the intake manifold to get to the pcv, and now I have to remember how to put it all back together again. Your video helped clear up some confusion. Thanks!

    I have the same engine. When I was removing the pvc from the motor I chipped the plastic nipple I guess you can call it that is attatched to the motor. The o-ring has a good seal but I am going to use some heat shrink tubing to make sure there is no air loss. I am glad that I finally found someone with the same issues with the same engine!

    Nicw job on removal/installation and functional impact on turbo boost. I had one of the lines split sucking air but once replaced the car run fine not rough at idle. But still not 100% power, I'm going to replace the PCV valve hoping the boost will be back!

    Awesome work on your Passat! I love the informative updates you make. Keep up the good work! I really want to see where you will take this project because I do own a Passat myself and constantly fighting Limp-mode with .8 bar boost.
    Been looking into the diode-mod and I saw your video!
    And thanks to this video I now know an easy location and install for my own catch can I have just laying around! Subscribed.

    Shortly, I will be addressing the issue of a leaking PCV on my car, VW Passat 1.8T 2004, motorcode AWT / 3BG (European) 150 PS. I am uncertain about the exact extent as I have not started a detailed investigation into where the leak(s) are located. Does anyone know the dimensions and the respective number of clamps needed? Much appreciated if anyone could give me a hint!
    P.S. If anyone also has tips on an affordable repair kit for the PCV, I am open to such suggestions.

    Hi Guys,
    I was under the impression that when under vacuum the pcv valve closes and reducers flow to the intake, and under boost the valve opens and sends positive crankcase gases into the intake.
    Under vacuum(idle) , less blow by gases is generated because no fuel is applied.
    In boost, valve opens(spring return in pcv) allowing blow by gases to flow into intake because now the engine is under load.

    • @sups1264
      @sups1264  4 года назад

      No because if that was the case when the engine was under boost it would pressurize the crankcase using the turbo. When the engine is under boost the pcv valve closes to stop positive pressure being introduced to the crankcase. When the engine is under vacuum the pcv valve is opened to suck air out of the crankcase.

      @@sups1264 that's what I understood initially but the pcv valve is a check valve and only allows flow in one direction. So under boost, the boost pressure will shut it closed as well as the spring return action on the valve to assist closing.

    • @sups1264
      @sups1264  4 года назад

      @@ashleynaidoo6907 no, vacuum essentially pulls the spring open. Then as it transitions to 0 PSI the spring closes the valve and stats closed due to boost and the spring when the engine sees positive pressure. Hope this helps!

    I’ve got an over boost problem right now, and I think it’s a problem with my vacuum system somewhere, but I can’t find any leaks... HELP

    I have a6 c5 with AWT.
    My question is, how can I remove all that shit with breathers recirculation and put just two hoses (one connected to lower breather, one connected to uper breather and fit those two below the car?

    that turbo is to small you need a bigger one.
