- My very vintage and pretty cool Robert Saunders Fellpine tent gets a night out in the South Wales Valleys and a good rain test.

If you want to say thanks for any of my content you can always buy me a coffee - I don't actually drink coffee so any money received would be spent on used camping gear and the odd can of own-brand energy drink.

Easiest like of my day on RUclips. And a personal thank you to Kev for the confidence and knowledge I've gained from watching your more extreme hikes and camps. I did it Kev I got out with friends in a controlled environment and my disabilities were not an issue, to much. I even took my dog. I'm loving my Nordisk tent 😎👍
That's great! Glad you like the Nordisk tent, they are fantastic shelters.
Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.
I bought mine in 1978 on the advice of Bike Magazine as a suitable tent compact enough to carry on a motorbike. I used it on my tours all over Europe. It can actually sleep two people.
I went with some French friends to Le Mans for the races there and once I had erected the thing one of my waggish French friends asked if the tent had fallen into a crevasse.
I still have it and I will keep it.
It's a tough tent, still solid after all these years. Thanks for sharing your experiences with it.
In the 70’s my older brother and I had a very similar tent (which I still have photos of). That entrance with the pole and sag is something I remember. - loved it as a kid but not practical 👍
It's a solid tent, it just feels like the inner isn't big enough given then size of the outer. Still, the fact a tent that old can handle a night of rain and a bit of wind without issue is impressive. Got to love a Robert Saunders tent.
Still got a original vango F10 ridge tent. There's always a time and place for a great design of tents😊
I've looked at a few, but they hold their value well!
I got a new Saunders Satellite Plus circa 1986 and still have it, last used a couple years ago on a Dartmoor wild camp.
Nice. These tents really do last!
Had a Saunders Backpacker 2 (very similar to the Fellpine in shape) - way ahead of its time. Often slept just under the fly which gave room for 3..absolutely loved it. Think I might still have it at the back of my camping cupboard.
Time to get it out for a camp then!
I had one and yes you are right you have to be a contortionist to get in and out. Sold it on an auction site and was surprised how much it went for!
I was about to list mine and someone else has one up for sale! Haven't seen one online for ages. I'll wait and list it soon. It's a decent tent, but I'm definitely preferring a side entrance.
I got one in about 1980 (still looking for it!); great tent, but the ground sheet was never waterproof!
Maybe it gets better with age then!
