Most of the people who make these seem to try and stack the odds against him for some reason - the way the mausoleum was placed here *should* have resulted in it stepping on him instantly after his speech, if it weren't for geometry.
@Marx_D._Soul In the clip the mausoleum is so close to him because it's a confined space and that's the only way to fit even three of its legs on the screen. If the mausoleum was stuck in the fight so that just one of its legs was visible in the far corner of the room then the odds would be incredibly stacked in Gideon's FAVOR since he's a spellcaster who isn't going to get near the mausoleum and the mausoleum can't shoot him because of the roof. That is, if it doesn't just fall in the void if you place 90% of it outside the room Also, how do people that make these videos "stack the odds against Gideon"? In all the videos I've seen he starts face to face with the challenger just like all the other bosses, often getting a chance to fire a spell before the other side reacts. Yes, he loses almost every time but that's because he's so much weaker compared to other late game bosses. He's essentially a player character but without the intellect and skill of an actual human player

Rennala finally winning one of these challenges is so wonderful. She deserves a victory after losing so many times. Seeing Malenia FINALLY lose one of these challenges is 150% satisfying. She can't withstand the mega stomps of a stone giant!
Yeah but you can't even compare how Mausoleum is doing during battle because you don't have a health bar for him. The biggest highlights for me though were Giddy finally winning a battle and Malenia getting defeated so quick with one stomp first phase and another stomp soon after second phase. I never see Malenia get beaten so fast.
The mausoleum sits down once enough of the skulls on its feet are broken. Doesn't really have health in the traditional sense. I don't know how many skull groups need to break, but it seems like about half, judging by my own encounters with them in the game.
I can imaging Malenia could get one shoot by this huge Mausoleum before her turn. But there is still somebody want to see her move like a waterfowl doge those deadly attack and clean those lock points.
Stance break and health damage are separate. Think of their stance as it's own, invisible bar. The stomp probably doesn't even do stance damage at all.

Seriously though, what kind of challenge does Gideon, Rennala & Radahn win but Malenia and Placidusax lose? Also the Fire Giant, but he has a much better win rate than bosses like Rennala.
The Carian royal family really coming out on top of this one, but Radahn's Starcaller Cry and slow walk away from underneath it as it falls makes the fact that the falling Mausoleum kills Mohg even more satisfying.
13:25 The irony of Mohg getting killed and instantaneously buried under the now Mohgoleum is beautiful, like some Dr.Facilier death type shit (ik the dead are held in a mausoleum not under it but still funny)
So we know from Rykard's fight that this thing deals about 32,000 damage per stomp. That means that Rykard and Fire Giant are the only bosses that can tank a direct hit from it. However I'm not sure that the shape of Fire Giant's phase 1 hitbox would even allow him to get stomped at all.
This challenge was amazing. So many upsets, so many strong bosses felled. The Great Leveler, in more ways than one. *_SPOILER: SCOREBOARD_* 1. Grafted Scion: *Defeated* 2. Margit: *Defeated* 3. Godrick: *Defeated* 4. Rennala: *Victory* (I am so proud to see her win you have no idea, I thought she was going to get bullied by ice magic. Guess AoE and range matters more in this fight. This was what made me go "Oh my god this is a huge upset", and after this point every single cheer that went up for a stronger boss getting defeated was a cheer for Renalla's victory.) 5. Radahn: *Victory* (Close, but Meteor got it. AoE is clearly big in this fight.) 6. Morgott: *Defeated* (I was rooting for him, but he was practically trying to get stomped.) 7. Fire Giant: *Victory* (Large body but upright so it doesn't actually accidentally end up underneath the Mausoleum. If fight had gone longer maybe, but his wide AoE made it very doable.) 8. Godskin Duo: *Defeated* (Just absolutely slain. Funny to learn that they have so much health that one stomp isn't enough, but it didn't matter. They don't respect the personal space of others, so they got stomped.) 9. Beast Clergyman/Maliketh: *Defeated* (has good AoE, moves a lot, but also does not respect personal space so dies. Interesting to see he can die in one phase.) 10. Placidusax: *Mutual Kill* (Managed to get stepped on right as it was ending. At this point in the video it's clear AoE or range is the big winner, and his great AoE gave him a good shot, but his large hitbox and tendency to get close and stay still ruined him. Surprised he can die in one stomp though. I guess he did take like 1/5~ of his health already, but still. Probably partly luck here.) 11. Astel: *Defeated* (Had to rewatch this one to see it. Poor Astel. Got his tail stepped on like a cat and fucking died. I thought with his AoE he was sure to win, but no. Probably bad luck, but still, it is what it is.) 12. Rykard: *Victory* (Surprisingly narrow. Got some work done in the first phase but his tendency to stick the snake head out got him eliminated. He has great AoE for his second phase so he still had a good chance, but got stomped. But... apparently he has so much health he can survive a stomp. Lucky bugger. Lives, but chastened, probably. Half thought his tail was gonna kill him under the Mausoleum's death animation, but he isn't as attached to his tail as Astel evidently. Still, 3/3 for the Renalla and her descendants.) 13. Mohg: *Mutual Kill* (Oh poor Mohg. So close, but got blocked on his way out by a foot. At least he'll have a nice tomb.) 14. Fortissax: *Defeated* (Aww, poor Fortissax. I really wanted him to live but no dice. Same issues as other large entities with getting too close. I was hoping he could do it with his AoE, but no. Might have been bad RNG but it is what it is.) 15. Melania: *Defeated* (What an upset! Not even a mutual kill. But it makes sense. She doesn't move very much, she doesn't attack very much before being attacked, she doesn't do Waterfowl until she's been damaged and the Mausoleum doesn't do normal levels of damage, and healing is useless. Still, seeing her Scarlet Aeonia get stomped was as inevitable as it was hilarious.) 16. Gideon: *Victory* (Another upset! Gideon defeats the giant Mausoleum! His range made it quite likely especially seeing that Renalla did so well with Magic, but his area is so cramped I figured he might get into trouble anyway. Even almost got squished but used his ALL-KNOWING MAGIC to thread the needle out of it. Still, he WINS! Where Melania LOST at that! Seems a Mausoleum will never become an Elden Lord while he exists!) 17. Godfrey: *Mutual Kill* (Got stomped right at the end after his AoE got off. I was hoping he would show he is the strongest of the very strong bosses but he just couldn't help getting stomped. I think with better luck he might have had it, but that's true for most losses. Oh well. That makes it 0/4 for Godfrey and his sons. Renalla smiling.) 18. Radagon: *Defeated* (Stepped on. He was doing ok, then he wasn't. Similar issues to Melania with not moving around a lot. His range and AoE could have done it but he just didn't Renalla Ascendant, Marika in shambles.) 19. Elden Beast: *Defeated* (Oof. Totally RNG there. I was convinced Elden Beast would have gotten this with its AoE and tendency to stay at long range but it managed to walk (swim?) the narrow road to defeat by swiping at a bad time. It should consider itself lucky that Gideon is protecting it.) *FINAL **-TALLY-** TOLL* _Defeated by Mausoleum:_ 1. Grafted Scion 2. Margit. 3. Godrick 4. Morgott. 5. Godskin Duo 6. Beast Clergyman/Maliketh (has great damage, good AoE, moves a lot, but also does not respect personal space so dies). 7. Astel 9. Fortissax 10. Melania 11. Radagon 12: Elden Beast _Slayer of Mausoleum:_ 1. Rennala 2. Radahn 3. Fire Giant 4. Rykard 5. Gideon _Mutual kill/Entombed in Mausoleum:_ 1. Placidusax 2. Mohg 3. Godfrey Final Tally: 12/5/3. Not a bad final score by any stretch of the imagination, but what victories it won! I've seen a lot of these sorts of videos on RUclips, and I've often wondered if there could be an enemy that was actually stronger against lategame bosses but weak to the early bosses in some natural, elegant way. And well hell, I guess we've found it! (Let me know if I missed something)
So that was what, 5 times the mausoleum was defeated and 3 times it got a stalemate, with two of the stalemates bordering on technicality, since the bosses was defeated nearly at the same time either by sheer luck or poor choice to stand directly under it as it settled down.
So many things to unpack in this one. xD First of Rennala and Gideon winning a fight for once. Second Morgott, the only small melee fighter not to get easily insta squished, doing a splendid job bringing the mausoleum down in seconds just to get sit on in the end. Thrid Plac, Astel, God-Devouring Serpent, Fortissax and Elden Beast getting insta killed cuz one of there limbs got hit or clipped. Like oh no it stomped my feet, guess i am gonna die. xD You can clearly see that the boss ai`s were not programmed to fight anything like the mausoleum. They see the legs as a target, but not its movement/stomp as an attack and thus walk straight into it. Ranged bosses or big mellee bosses with longer range were the winners here. Edit: The godskin duo was hillarious as well. The quick double squish was just great.
One Boss that you'd think would be a problem and then one that'd you'd never expect, stand in the way of The Walking Mausoleum from Becoming Elden Lord. Also, lol, it has to do Varré's Questline to get to Mohg early, if it even wants to get into the Capitol, because it can only beat one other Great Rune boss.
Mohg doing a near hitless run but getting leg blocked in the end was gold.

Well, internally they control kinda like players as far as I'm aware, so the weak points are what's available to lock on to.
They lock on to any enemy with health and the skulls have a minscule health bar so it makes sense why they target them and not the building

15. Melania: *Defeated* (What an upset! Not even a mutual kill. But it makes sense. She doesn't move very much, she doesn't attack very much before being attacked, she doesn't do Waterfowl until she's been damaged and the Mausoleum doesn't do normal levels of damage, and healing is useless. Still, seeing her Scarlet Aeonia get stomped was as inevitable as it was hilarious.)
16. Gideon: *Victory* (Another upset! Gideon defeats the giant Mausoleum! His range made it quite likely especially seeing that Renalla did so well with Magic, but his area is so cramped I figured he might get into trouble anyway. Even almost got squished but used his ALL-KNOWING MAGIC to thread the needle out of it. Still, he WINS! Where Melania LOST at that! Seems a Mausoleum will never become an Elden Lord while he exists!)
17. Godfrey: *Mutual Kill* (Got stomped right at the end after his AoE got off. I was hoping he would show he is the strongest of the very strong bosses but he just couldn't help getting stomped. I think with better luck he might have had it, but that's true for most losses. Oh well. That makes it 0/4 for Godfrey and his sons. Renalla smiling.)
18. Radagon: *Defeated* (Stepped on. He was doing ok, then he wasn't. Similar issues to Melania with not moving around a lot. His range and AoE could have done it but he just didn't Renalla Ascendant, Marika in shambles.)
19. Elden Beast: *Defeated* (Oof. Totally RNG there. I was convinced Elden Beast would have gotten this with its AoE and tendency to stay at long range but it managed to walk (swim?) the narrow road to defeat by swiping at a bad time. It should consider itself lucky that Gideon is protecting it.)

Final Tally: 12/5/3. Not a bad final score by any stretch of the imagination, but what victories it won! I've seen a lot of these sorts of videos on RUclips, and I've often wondered if there could be an enemy that was actually stronger against lategame bosses but weak to the early bosses in some natural, elegant way. And well hell, I guess we've found it!

So that was what, 5 times the mausoleum was defeated and 3 times it got a stalemate, with two of the stalemates bordering on technicality, since the bosses was defeated nearly at the same time either by sheer luck or poor choice to stand directly under it as it settled down.

So many things to unpack in this one. xD
First of Rennala and Gideon winning a fight for once.
Second Morgott, the only small melee fighter not to get easily insta squished, doing a splendid job bringing the mausoleum down in seconds just to get sit on in the end.
Thrid Plac, Astel, God-Devouring Serpent, Fortissax and Elden Beast getting insta killed cuz one of there limbs got hit or clipped. Like oh no it stomped my feet, guess i am gonna die. xD
You can clearly see that the boss ai`s were not programmed to fight anything like the mausoleum. They see the legs as a target, but not its movement/stomp as an attack and thus walk straight into it. Ranged bosses or big mellee bosses with longer range were the winners here.
Edit: The godskin duo was hillarious as well. The quick double squish was just great.
