    My first boat was/is the Nacra f18 mk1 I'm currently sailing. I used all of the joyrider TV videos to learn. Asked some questions and went for it.

      Yes! Not the conventional choice for learning on but certainly feasible. Good work!

    Love your advice about just getting out here and learning from making your mistakes! I agree that starting on a monohull will teach you more about the sensitivities .... it's just the same as learning to drive a car ... passing your test on a motorbike first will teach you the most important basics! Great video again Joe!

    Dove right in last year having always wanted to learn how to sail. I purchased an H14, restored it and learned to sail this wonderful cat with a great deal of your helpful videos. Thank you for the heads up in so many areas. I'd still be out at sea like a donkey on a trampoline otherwise. One of my 'hazards' are the white sharks that are looking for a cat snack! Named my boat 'Jaws' lol

    • @JoyriderTV
      @JoyriderTV  3 года назад

      That is quite a hazard! Are you in SA or Australia?

      @@JoyriderTV Northeast USA, sailing from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Over the last 20 years the white shark population has increased during summer months due to a large increase in seal numbers here.

      @@robertosgood961 Wow, I didn't know you had them in the USA, I spent a lot of time in the water with them in Cape Town so I know where you're coming from.

    I bought an older Hobie 16 this summer and taught myself to sail pretty much all from watching this channel. Thanks for all the good videos!

      I'm doing the same. Watching your vids has been an invaluable resource. The boat is almost ready and I've lined up adult supervision for my first Joyride! A word to the wise, "There's nothing more expensive than a cheap boat" LOL.

    Hi mate
    Here in Paraguay, the only option I had was a used Supercat 17. I bought it from the club's instructor with his promise of teaching. I'm just starting next week. What do you think?.
    I took from your video that it has some good features, like no boom and big skegs...
    Thanks for your videos!

      I think you'll have a lot of fun with that.
      Especially if the teacher gives you a lesson as well.
      Definitely no boom and kegs are good features.

    Just disagree with one thing - you can learn as an adult in an Optimist!safe as houses! Maybe a smallish adult is a prerequisite 😊
