You're looking at her, and this video can show you how to look like her. This video would work well for those who want to dress up like Miku at her concerts, anime events and expos and more! ( fyi, Miku doesn't wear hairbands, but I had to wear a few because I was in the desert filming this scene. It was so windy, my hair was flapping everywhere and getting all tangled. How did Rapunzel do it?! Seriously!)
Hatsune Miku is a vocaloid, she's not an anime or hologram, this video explains it pretty well and shows you how to use the vocaloid program. It may seem new to you, but it's been around in Japan for a while. Very cool stuff. • Video

After Michelle said "You need to look her up ASAP", I did, and from then on, Vocaloid became a really important part of my adolescent life. I made new friends at school who shared the same obsession, began cosplaying and attending ACG cons. As I began to outgrow my weeaboo stage (just a bit haha) I took an interest in the technical side of things, creating my own UTAU and making Vocaloid choruses. Then I got Vocaloid itself and started making my own VSQs, and mixing my own covers (still pretty bad at mixing). Hence, I discovered a new field of interest that I probably wouldn't have otherwise pursued. Additionally, along the way, I found myself watching a lot of odorite videos (Miume, 217 etc.) and my passion for dance was rekindled as well. I met someone at an ACG convention who also liked odorite stuff who eventually created a dance group. I've now found my niche in dance and have grown considerably in terms of skill.
So thank you Michelle, this video brings back a lot of memories.

To people who criticize Michelle for the way she did the cosplay. It's her cosplay! The most fun part about cosplaying is developing the character in your own style. No one can ever make their cosplay 100% accurate anyways, so why not have fun personalizing it ^^

tip: to get rid of the unwanted frizz in the pigtails get a brush and run it through hot watter (make sure its not dripping) then gently run it through them

When I was 8 years old I was the biggest fan of Michelle, and this look got me obsessed with hatsune miku. I cosplayed as her on Halloween using clothes that I thrifted. My mom even found a turquoise wig and we styled it together! This video brings back such good memories, thank you Michelle Phan!!

Omg idk why is this old tutorial showed up on my recommendations. This is so old and i used to watch this tutorial a lot back then! I was (and actually still) an otaku teen who was so obsessed of vocaloids. I really miss it!

I remember watching this for my Miku costume when I was a kid. I didn't end up using all the make-up, and the closest I had to the shirt was an old soccer uniform I had turned inside out, cut off the sleeves, and sewed on a collar from one of my Dad's old work shirts. It may have looked silly, but it was the effort that counted.

Wow seriously the hate she gets from this is dumb I think she did a really good job with the costume and make up actually it's probly the most natural hyper anime look I've seen (though I could do without the under lashes but I digress) Also to people saying her cosplay is inaccurate and because of this isn't a real fan, your dumb, cosplaying doesn't have to mean exactly looking like the character you can take the costume and make it your own, especially for something so un cannon and creatively open as miku. In short: stop being so over critical, rude, and just plain out oversensitive to someone that loved this character enough to express her version of miku and makeup ideas

Buying the music doesn't really necessarily mean you will get away with copyrights, you would have to ask permission to the main music artists themselves first for copyright BUT for Michelle Phan's case it's under Creative Commons. But buying the music first before using it to create a youtube video doesn't mean you have the rights to copyright it all comes down to who created the piece first not who bought the song first.

I'm a cosplayer and oh my god so many things about this video bother me like you don't brush wigs from the top to bottom your suppose to start from the bottom and work your way to the top also anime characters don't wear super bright makeup they usually don't look like their wearing makeup at all
She's trying to make her eyes pop out like they do in anime's and just outlining the eyes in white makes you look weird. Though I do agree with the wig advice.
