Average wholesale with the low mileage is $60k but I wouldn't want to go there for a retail customer especially if I know I'm gonna certify it too. Makes no sense to me. At the end of day, the dealer knows no one gets paid unless something gets sold.
I think the Dealer's is telling the truth a coworker at work just bought a base model RAV4 3 months ago. he got a phone call a couple days ago they were offering like two or three thousand dollars more than what he actually paid for it to buy it back that's crazy.

If a car dealership asked over MSRP they are not stupid, the person buying it is stupid. A burger place can ask $50 a burger and if people pay, well then it’s not stupid, for them. A lot of people need to get educated before buying a car.
To me is really funny how people are complaining about you trying to get the best price and using tactics or even using the you can impact the market if you make a video, people do not understand is just a tactic , respectfully i also don’t think that can happen but again is just a tactic , also people don’t understand this is only 1 car and he is only trying to get a fair deal, i don’t see people here complaining about the other hundreds of cars that this dealers probably profited with crazy markups , just because someone is educated enough or is a good negotiator should get hate. So you are telling me that people are okay with losing 13k on a car , no wonder why people go broke over vehicles.
If the person bought it from them, it depends on what the customer paid for it. They would pay far less for it and blame it not being brand new anymore. I'd say they paid 45-50
I love everyone not in the business pretend if they had items for sale they wouldn't make as much money as possible. If I take a rare car in I'm going to ask what I want and if someone is willing to pay it that's the market.
I’ve owned a 2010 4Runner. It still has the five speed transmission that’s been used in the last, I don’t know, maybe 20 years ago. It was the most boring vehicle I ever owned. I would never buy another one.

My biggest take on buying cars is you should buy a car when you don't really have to at that time. Because you can walk away without having the pressure of you must buy a car now. If you know you are going to get a new car within a year or so, i would start the process of buying one now. 72k for a Toyota? you are insane. A brand new Acura MDX are 70k. "Toyota are reliable and hold value".. That does not matter at all. If i have a pair of pants that lasted 5 years and i bought them for 50 bucks, can i now sell those paints for 500? I mean they lasted 5 years... No, that's insanity 60k for a Toyota is insane... The market is 100% at fault for why these dealers do what they do. The market allows this nonsense. HENCE why they did 72k first.
This video is illustrative of a lot of aspects of a car deal, but allow me to point out that at least one of the things we learn here is how and why Tomi will tell straight-up lies in a negotiation to gain leverage. Car pros are not shocked to see this. We hear the lies from customers every day. It's just funny to me that if you ask the average consumer who lies in a negotiation, they will say it's always only the dealer who lies and never the customer--like only salespeople are willing to fib to make or save money in a negotiation. If as a customer you don't like dealers playing negotiation games, the answer is simple. Don't ask for a discount. Or, at the very least, don't ask for an extreme discount like Tomi does. If you do this, the games will begin.
What lies did I "straight up tell"? That my client would take an underground color? Otherwise I lose the comparables on a market thats already slim? And color doesn't determine the market on this particular model so me letting the dealership having that leverage for no reason doesn't help in this situation at all. An underground or black hold its value the same, should both be taken into consideration. If I say they wont' take it, it takes that leverage out of the deal completely. Which means the dealership is "justified" to charge a higher price because of color. And your answer is someone should of just paid the 72k for the TRD PRO? And overpaid to avoid the "games"? Why not price it to market....
@@Delivrd , you told the dealer that the 4Runner market will soon tank, and then later admitted that was a lie in your own video. 6:55 mark. That's fine. It's all part of the game. We expect you to lie. It's up to us to know what we really have or don't have and price accordingly.
@@leonardyoung6821good point. It will always be how the dealers lie but yet, flat out lies told by him. The exact reason why I love holding 2 points plus the markup that we have on our products
@@leonardyoung6821 A prediction on what will happen to the market, and me lying are two different things lol and this is a bit of a stretch. Most experts agree that the old TRD Pro will hold its value, this is largely due to the new redesigns having issues with their drivetrains and the old 4runner being the most reliable car in the passed 40 years. That being said, that is a prediction. Nobody knows FOR SURE that this will be the case. And there are plenty of scenarios where all experts agree upon something and they are wrong. So yes, its a ticking time bomb. In theory it could hold its value for years after the new 4runner comes out. But if the new 4runner becomes more reliable? And ends up having better technology? What will happen to this old outdated design. It will fizzle and crash. My prediction is that the new 4runner will have worse reliability, so the old one will hold its value. But lets be real, if the new 4runner becomes a tank and its reliability is close to the old one it WILL tank the old generations. A lie would be telling someone a car has new tires when it in fact has old tires. I am simply pointing out the facts that nobody knows the market. And does he want to take a risk on this. Its a stretch man.
@Delivrd , you made a prediction with confidence to the dealer (as if it was a forgone conclusion) that the market was likely to tank on 2024 4Runners before he sold that. As a Toyota expert, you know that is not true. Prior generations of 4Runner still get ridiculous money even if they are 15 years old. No reason the 2024 is going to tank suddenly. It certainly will not tank in the next 30 days, which would be the likely longest time a 2024 4Runner would sit on the lot. Honestly, if I had been this dealer, I would not have even called you on this prime piece. This is a vehicle to make a home run, not a double. If it didn't sell for high-$60k range after 3-4 weeks, then I might call a sharp grinder like you to take an easier deal at a lower price. This guy just gave up dealer profit without just cause. Pretty dumb.
I will never overpay for a car, let alone a used car. You could buy nearly any other midsize suv for 40k or less. Why would you want to 1 either drop 63k all at once which means your savings account was loaded and making no money on or 2, will be paying a buttload on interest/ insurance to cover said 63k car. I would be buying a decked out Honda Passport over this overpriced BS
Bought a 2021 SR5 premium brand new when they came out. $43,000. Plus it was during a Costco deal so I got like $2500 for upgrades. There’s no other car ever that you can get like this that has basically the same exact drivetrain as the highest end model, super off-road capable even at the SR5 level. Holding onto this one for a long long time
so this whole video was literally just you finding the car already on the market for sale for X and countering because the dealer you were dealing with was selling it for well over X? Good tip! Would have never thought of that. 25 mins though not so much Tommy.
He started the negotiation at 72k...... Just because I have friendly banter back doesn't mean we aren't negotiating lol. We utilized competition and market analytics to get the price down. We gave him a fair and reasonable offer and held firm on that offer. We gave him reasons why he should do the deal. Yes, people pay me 1k to negotiate in ANYWAY that is necessary to get the deal. That may be friendly banter, or it may be another route. My job is result based.
@@Delivrd Gotcha, yeah this 25 min was just you countering with the market value + friend deal -- like I said. Wild that was a 1000 dollar job. But I guess people pay a premium for things like this -- yikes.
It is not his "subs." It is the information he disseminates. Eventually, his information and information provided by many others will indeed change the car market. Auto sales people will be able to scam fewer and fewer people with their smarmy selling games and scams.
My job is to get the best possible deal for my client. Point, blank period. Every person will have different tactics on what works and what doesn't work. My goal is to get results, not "be humble". If a dealership doesn't believe I will find that better deal, do you think they will give me that discount? They gave me this deal because of my "Narc" tendencies.

"Toyota are reliable and hold value".. That does not matter at all. If i have a pair of pants that lasted 5 years and i bought them for 50 bucks, can i now sell those paints for 500? I mean they lasted 5 years... No, that's insanity
60k for a Toyota is insane... The market is 100% at fault for why these dealers do what they do. The market allows this nonsense. HENCE why they did 72k first.
i know a black 9n black at a dealer 2024. only 1600 miles. they want 62k.
10k over sticker to get a 4 cylinder four runner what a joke
He’s talking about 5th gen lol
@ still ridiculous and I bet the 5th generation will be the same
So would $10K over for an 8 cylinder be a good thing?
@@jerrylundegaard2592 even if the 8 cylinder engine were to cost 10k over yes it would be way more justified. Way more reliable engine

A prediction on what will happen to the market, and me lying are two different things lol and this is a bit of a stretch.
$63k for a non luxury SUV....nope. Car prices are insane.
The king!!!!
is it smart to lease a maserati grecale considering they lose around half the value after 3 years
Click bait, there is no heated argument here. You’re literally negotiating with your friend lol.
If you pay a dealer markup you’re a fool.
If you're advertising a car that doesnt exist, you are violating the law.
There’s a sucker born every minute.
Lmao i love this episode made me giggle
Thank you!
Well did she take the offer? All that and you left the most important detail out. 😂
It's hilarious you think you have all that pull😂😅😂
It doesn’t matter what I believe, it’s the person I’m negotiating with that needs to believe it
Ill sell you my 21 trd pro 4r in lunar rock with under 21k miles. For 65k
I want to apologize up front and say this was almost painful to watch, I tried to make it to the end of this vlog but I couldn’t do it.
Sorry you didn't like it man.
These dealers suck . First guy 2025 Murano Platinum.52,500 1700 in add ons. Second 52500 5000 discount no add ons.
More important question... who-the-f* traded in their 2024 TRD Pro Runner to allow you to even make this video (that car should be a lifetime keeper)?
Iv would've just hung up when he said 70
dude has an evil laugh
Bought a 2021 SR5 premium brand new when they came out. $43,000. Plus it was during a Costco deal so I got like $2500 for upgrades. There’s no other car ever that you can get like this that has basically the same exact drivetrain as the highest end model, super off-road capable even at the SR5 level. Holding onto this one for a long long time
The 4runner is the most over priced, over hyped vehicle ever.
so this whole video was literally just you finding the car already on the market for sale for X and countering because the dealer you were dealing with was selling it for well over X?
Good tip! Would have never thought of that. 25 mins though not so much Tommy.
I wanted to post a full negotiation with tips on what I am doing. People like these negotiations a lot, but I want to have some teaching in them.
@@tmikula92 people pay you 1000 bucks to negotiate like this? Tommy... come on. lol this deal was more of a friend deal that it was you negotiating.
@@socosurfvery kind of you to boost Tomi's video in RUclips's rankings for free with your repeated comments.
It's weird how a guy with 30k subs thinks he can change the car market
It is not his "subs." It is the information he disseminates. Eventually, his information and information provided by many others will indeed change the car market. Auto sales people will be able to scam fewer and fewer people with their smarmy selling games and scams.
You sure are cocky for someone with only 31k subscribers
Enough with the disclaimers. Just play the recording and let us hear it.
Ehhh, this is meant to be a learning lesson. And if I don't disclaim this comment section is through the roof that I didn't clear these things up.
10k over sticker for a vehicle that says turd on the side 😂
You can disclaimer all you want, Tomi, but it's obvious you've got some narc tendencies going on.
$70k for a 4 cyl Turbo? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 get a X5 with a B58 engine. Let's be honest, the best product Toyota puts out right now has BMW stamped all over the engine bay (Gen 5 Supra).
damn i might sell you mine for that price
