Turns out they did. The Black Orks lead a revolt against the Chaos Dwarfs and crippled their empire. To my knowledge it's a fan theory that Grimgor was the leader of that rebellion. Sort of a Greenskin Spartacus.
I would watch you do a lets play. Also I agree with you about swarming people with the Greenskins although I don't even recruit Archers when I play them. Just Orcs and Trolls mostly.

Grimgor is by far my favorite character in the lore. I mean I just got chills reading this. Like oh shit..he isn't even mean yet? Ever since the white dwarf I had when I was ten and grimgor rolled over the empire forces. That green dude became my hero.

That lighting looked completely correct from the tall mountain in between the ground and the moon. It also looked incredibly badass and atmospheric. They'd better keep it in, and do more stuff like that. The mood was ideal for that fight!

(and the 4 most likely lords imo) They were a group of normal dwarfs that went more and more northeast to look for more valuable materials (because dwarfs are greedy like that) and came across ther great skull road (aka Zorn Uzkul) which looked inhopitable. many dwarfs turned back but some stayed to explore the lands a little more. Shortly after however, the great catastrophe happened, bringing chaos into the world and isolating the adventurous dwarfs from their kin. The wastern dwarfs assumed their eastern kin were killed off, little did they know they survived. In an act of desperation and hatred for being left behind (whispered into their ears by hashut), the eastern dwafs made a pact with the minor chaos god Hashut; allowing them to survive and giving them access to magic (which they should not be able to use because of the curse of the stone. This causes their bodies to slowly turn to stone when they use it) This deal twisted the Eastern dwarfs mentaly and physically making them arguably the most cruel faction in the warhammer world. Through the years they developed techniques to dominate daemons and mold their essence into their weapons, making them way more powerful but extremely volatile. as for characters these are the most likely: -Astragoth Ironhand: oldest Sorcerer-prophet alive. (and his model is fucking awesome) Start position: could start anywhere tbh. he does not have any lore in WHFB which gives the devs a lot of freedom -Zhatan the Black: Lastly, Zhatan the black seems the most likely. The chaos dwarf commander of the Tower of Zharr, he is known to be one of, if not the best military strategist and leader in the realms (and the most cruel). As the right hand of the Sorcerer-prophet, Ghorth the Cruel, he makes sure his master has a steady supply of slaves for sacrifices, mining and everything in between. A pure frontline melee lord, he too adds a niche for the Chaos dwarfs. Starting position: Anywhere. He's always on slaving expeditions so again, he can start anywhere the devs see fit.
I've played Grimgor the first day of warhammer 1 launch, I played him campaign arround 15 times both ME and warhammer 1. He will be my first campaign. He is my favorite. He is the best. All hail Grimgor ! As a greeny fan I like this video !

Zerk is one of the few people whose campaigns I find interesting enough to actually watch. I know lots of people only watch the first episode of let's plays, but I'd love to see more of this.
I like the idea of settlement battles being different than field battles but not the slog of a siege that they are now. I think unless the city has the defense building it could just be a small square with a cap point that provides a low global leadership buff and 1 or 2 towers and barrier zones. The attacker can't win with stalking or rush caps and the defenders don't get a fortified city without dedicating a building slot to it.
With IE just being dropped, I would LOVE a campaign series for a few of the factions. Always loved watching you and I've learned everything I know from you. Here to learn Lord Zerk!

The Chaos Dwarfs will 100% have Astragoth Ironhand and Drazhoath the Ashen as legendary lords. Astragoth Ironhand will be included because he's the oldest, most prominent and most powerful sorcerer-prophet and essentially the faction leader. Drazhoath will be included because he's a sort-of-exiled sorcerer/martial hybrid lord who commands the Black Fortress and Legion of Azgorh (an important subfaction within the Chaos Dwarfs and their equivalent of Slayers), and he's antagonistic towards Astragoth who banished him to internal exile. Besides those two, there are a few other options depending on how outlandish they want to go. Other dwarf LLs could include Zhatan the Black, who would be a purely martial lord to contrast with the previous two who are both sorcerer-prophets (his speciality is enslaving things). Then there's potentially room for a Bull Centaur LL (Shar'tor the Executioner) or even a Hobgoblin LL (Gorduz Backstabber would be the most likely).
Was one of the subs back I believe (or at least viewers) then so it's awesome seeing it come back! Would be cool to see mini campaign cut videos going over how you did things maybe even lore friendly or weird ideas. Love the content Zerk!

The Chaos Dwarfs should be somewhat Persian themed. In the lore they're pretty famously harsh and cruel slavers, with hobgoblin enforcers, warped sacrificial/runic magic, and a bull god. They invented Black Orcs via a slave eugenics program, some of whom have rebelled and broken free to go join the boyz elsewhere in the world.
The Chaos Dwarfs worship a '5th god of Chaos' (there are more than 5 but the ones that aren't the 4 are all called 5th lol) named Hashut. He's the god of industry, slavery and fire. He also likes bulls. He doesn't have demons per se but there are creatures created with his power called K'daai, which look a bit like Ragnaros. The Chaos Dwarfs don't exactly have a leader, but the closest thing is Astragoth Ironhand. He's an ancient Sorcerer Prophet and the most powerful one. Sorcerer Prophets are dwarf casters, which is a thing they can do, but being a dwarf mage is dangerous because they're not designed to do that and you kind of have to like... force something that isn't meant to work like that or something. Because they are forcing something that isn't meant to be whenever a dwarf miscasts part of his body turns to stone, and Astragoth Ironhand being the oldest and most powerful chaos dwarf mage is nearly all stone now. He has to get around using a mechanical metal suit. Drazhoath the Ashen is also a sorcerer prophet, but he's quite a bit younger and is mostly not stone. He pissed off everyone in Zharr-Naggrund and was forced in to exile. He leads the Legion of Azgorh out of a place called the Black Fortress. He rides a bale taurus which is a fire breathing flying bull that is sacred to the Chaos dwarf's god Hashut. He serves someone named Ghorth the Cruel, but kind of like Queek we're probably getting Drazhoath. Zhatan the Black is not a caster and is a general. He also serves Ghorth the Cruel. Rykarth the Unbreakable is a very stalwart and disciplined character. He stared down Archaon in the end times and intimidated him in to a deal on hell cannon purchases... don't know much else about him. Some people have been suggesting we could get Shar'tor the Executioner. He's a bull centaur (chaos dwarfs blessed by Hashut to be... half dwarf half bull like a centaur is human and horse). He was originally going to be in Warhammer Fantasy but the end times happened and he didn't appear until AoS.
Something I've noticed about the setup of the world now is that there are definite more areas of diversity where it's doable and even sometimes strategically sound to have only one or two settlements in a territory. Noticed it early in, lots of settlements in choke point areas which is a nice feature

Assuming there'll be 4 Chorf lords, there are some pretty obvious contenders and then some that might be up in the air. Astrogath Ironhand is guaranteed - High Priest of Hashut, he's the main man. Thorgrim but for Chorfs. He'll be in Zhar-Naggrund. Second guaranteed is Drazhoath the Ashen, Lord of the Black Fortress. the Chorf version of Ungrim, but he has a grudge against Astrogath. He'll probably start in the Black Fortress. There's a few options after that. Tordrek Hackhart is the one I'd most like to see - a Pirate. He's an insane Dwarf engineer who went rogue and is now buddied with Chorfs and the Dreadfleet. He's the best option for a Chorf outside the darklands, could start pretty much anywhere. Another option is Shar'tor the Executioner - he's a bull Centaur. technically AoS, but he was intended to be in fantasy, and his model was released before end times. Bull Centaurs are basically regular centaurs, but Chorfs instead of humans. Could give Chorfs some decent cav options. Rykarth the Unbreakable is a very tough and skilled melee fighter, allied Chorfs with Archaon, friends with some other Chaos buddies, attacked the empire once. Gorduz Backstabber is the main Hobgoblin chieftain if they were to go down that route. He's in service the the Chorfs, and is very crafty. Maybe a bit much though, might be a FLC or DLC later down the line. Zhatan the Black is probably the last decent option, a Legendary commander of the Tower of Zharr. He serves Ghorth the Cruel but Ghorth is kinda just a background to Zhatan. Very skilled at melee, basically just a really good general.

I hope Black Orcs get love with the CD DLC. More unit variety. And way more synergy between Grimgor skill tree and tech tree, focusing much more on buffing up the big boys of the Greenskins, Black Orcs, Big Uns, Boar Cavalry, Rogue Idols, Trolls. These kind of units should be on another level when it comes to Grimgors faction and armies. And Grimgor himself could also get some buffs in the face of Warhammer 3. Grimgor hates Goblins in the Lore, so in his faction there shouldn't be barely any synergy with gobbos.

Campaign LPs - especially if they are lightly edited to reduce slack and have a fun overarching story or theme - are super cool. The fun thing about games like this is as much the emergent weirdness as the mechanical breakdowns - definitely still worth doing from a viewer pov!
Legendary Lord will probably be Astragoth Ironhand because he's based in Zhar-Naggrund. He has iron legs and hands and can use magic, he'd be a very cool Legendary Lord.

Talking Chaos Dwarf LLs, I'd think it'd be Drazhoath the Ashen for sure. If they come out with more than one then we'd have to have Zhatan the Black and/or Rykarth the Unbreakable.

Astragoth Ironhand and Drazhoath the Ashen are the ones I think are guaranteed, with Ghorth the Cruel potentially joining. I have a feeling one of their Lords will be placed in the Southern Chaos wastes, not out of any lore reason, but just a hunch based on how empty it is and it'd be a good spot to place one outside the Darklands.

The chaos dwarf lord there will likely be astragoth. Hes a half rock/mechanical wizard. Hes from the 4th edition book. The only other lord to get a mini was in in the center of the dark lands
putting da immortulz in the back was unusual Personally I have them and grimgor at the front and then make them charge straight at the enemy once they enter archer range you know, because they are unkillable
Caos dwarfs are very similar in the infantry with the regular dwarfs, but they also have magic, they have crazy artillery , one weapon is a train wagon with artillery, and in range they have same weapons than regular dwarfs, but with some more , one like shotguns. They have some like centigors cavalry but stronger. Overall they are the dwarfs but much better and more flexible.
Tbf lore wise Kholek should be fighting in the dark since the pact he made with the Chaos Gods was so vile that the sun literally refuses to shine on him and he's always followed by a thunderstorm.
Enjoyed that! Greenskins swarming people is really satisfying but unfortunately it doesn’t work that well later in the campaign as unit dps scales-up faster than unit hp/defences. By the time you get a surround on, everything is dead!
I know it might be beta content before the real campaign start gets written and recorded, but I like that Grimgor foregoes the pre campaign motivation/game plan speech and instead just tells you to get smashin'.
We actually need the campaign, quite rare to see total war player with decent efficiency mostly just do whatever the f they want without proper mitigation wish you the best man
IMO Grimgor's campaign will be much more interesting after Chorfs come out, and we can go on a loreful crusade against them. For now, I'm super excited to play Azhag in IE. So many new and interesting factions around his start!
Why did you kill the giant when you lured them out into a field battle? You'd have gotten it via confederation if you hadn't killed it. 18:25 That's actually pretty close to how a shadows fall in a moonlit night in reality. The illuminated side might be a bit too bright and should be toned down, however the side in the shadows looks really good. Just in case you didn't notice: If a light source is blocked by solid objects like mountains the object casts a shadow.

Actually like the lighting in the final map- quite realistic if you've hiked at dusk, especially in the north- down in the valleys it gets very dark.

Drazhoath will be included because he's a sort-of-exiled sorcerer/martial hybrid lord who commands the Black Fortress and Legion of Azgorh (an important subfaction within the Chaos Dwarfs and their equivalent of Slayers), and he's antagonistic towards Astragoth who banished him to internal exile.
Besides those two, there are a few other options depending on how outlandish they want to go. Other dwarf LLs could include Zhatan the Black, who would be a purely martial lord to contrast with the previous two who are both sorcerer-prophets (his speciality is enslaving things). Then there's potentially room for a Bull Centaur LL (Shar'tor the Executioner) or even a Hobgoblin LL (Gorduz Backstabber would be the most likely).
I think Shar'tor is incredibly likely just because of how much different he is from the main Sorcerer Prophets

The Chaos Dwarfs should be somewhat Persian themed. In the lore they're pretty famously harsh and cruel slavers, with hobgoblin enforcers, warped sacrificial/runic magic, and a bull god. They invented Black Orcs via a slave eugenics program, some of whom have rebelled and broken free to go join the boyz elsewhere in the world.

The Chaos Dwarfs worship a '5th god of Chaos' (there are more than 5 but the ones that aren't the 4 are all called 5th lol) named Hashut. He's the god of industry, slavery and fire. He also likes bulls. He doesn't have demons per se but there are creatures created with his power called K'daai, which look a bit like Ragnaros.
The Chaos Dwarfs don't exactly have a leader, but the closest thing is Astragoth Ironhand. He's an ancient Sorcerer Prophet and the most powerful one. Sorcerer Prophets are dwarf casters, which is a thing they can do, but being a dwarf mage is dangerous because they're not designed to do that and you kind of have to like... force something that isn't meant to work like that or something. Because they are forcing something that isn't meant to be whenever a dwarf miscasts part of his body turns to stone, and Astragoth Ironhand being the oldest and most powerful chaos dwarf mage is nearly all stone now. He has to get around using a mechanical metal suit.
Drazhoath the Ashen is also a sorcerer prophet, but he's quite a bit younger and is mostly not stone. He pissed off everyone in Zharr-Naggrund and was forced in to exile. He leads the Legion of Azgorh out of a place called the Black Fortress. He rides a bale taurus which is a fire breathing flying bull that is sacred to the Chaos dwarf's god Hashut. He serves someone named Ghorth the Cruel, but kind of like Queek we're probably getting Drazhoath.
Zhatan the Black is not a caster and is a general. He also serves Ghorth the Cruel.
Rykarth the Unbreakable is a very stalwart and disciplined character. He stared down Archaon in the end times and intimidated him in to a deal on hell cannon purchases... don't know much else about him.
Some people have been suggesting we could get Shar'tor the Executioner. He's a bull centaur (chaos dwarfs blessed by Hashut to be... half dwarf half bull like a centaur is human and horse). He was originally going to be in Warhammer Fantasy but the end times happened and he didn't appear until AoS.
Something I've noticed about the setup of the world now is that there are definite more areas of diversity where it's doable and even sometimes strategically sound to have only one or two settlements in a territory. Noticed it early in, lots of settlements in choke point areas which is a nice feature

Assuming there'll be 4 Chorf lords, there are some pretty obvious contenders and then some that might be up in the air.
Astrogath Ironhand is guaranteed - High Priest of Hashut, he's the main man. Thorgrim but for Chorfs. He'll be in Zhar-Naggrund.
Second guaranteed is Drazhoath the Ashen, Lord of the Black Fortress. the Chorf version of Ungrim, but he has a grudge against Astrogath. He'll probably start in the Black Fortress.
There's a few options after that. Tordrek Hackhart is the one I'd most like to see - a Pirate. He's an insane Dwarf engineer who went rogue and is now buddied with Chorfs and the Dreadfleet. He's the best option for a Chorf outside the darklands, could start pretty much anywhere.
Another option is Shar'tor the Executioner - he's a bull Centaur. technically AoS, but he was intended to be in fantasy, and his model was released before end times. Bull Centaurs are basically regular centaurs, but Chorfs instead of humans. Could give Chorfs some decent cav options.
Rykarth the Unbreakable is a very tough and skilled melee fighter, allied Chorfs with Archaon, friends with some other Chaos buddies, attacked the empire once.
Gorduz Backstabber is the main Hobgoblin chieftain if they were to go down that route. He's in service the the Chorfs, and is very crafty. Maybe a bit much though, might be a FLC or DLC later down the line.
Zhatan the Black is probably the last decent option, a Legendary commander of the Tower of Zharr. He serves Ghorth the Cruel but Ghorth is kinda just a background to Zhatan. Very skilled at melee, basically just a really good general.

I hope Black Orcs get love with the CD DLC. More unit variety. And way more synergy between Grimgor skill tree and tech tree, focusing much more on buffing up the big boys of the Greenskins, Black Orcs, Big Uns, Boar Cavalry, Rogue Idols, Trolls. These kind of units should be on another level when it comes to Grimgors faction and armies. And Grimgor himself could also get some buffs in the face of Warhammer 3. Grimgor hates Goblins in the Lore, so in his faction there shouldn't be barely any synergy with gobbos.

Campaign LPs - especially if they are lightly edited to reduce slack and have a fun overarching story or theme - are super cool. The fun thing about games like this is as much the emergent weirdness as the mechanical breakdowns - definitely still worth doing from a viewer pov!
(Can't edit because on iOS but this is especially true now minor settlements have been domesticated - viewer experience much nicer!)
Legendary Lord will probably be Astragoth Ironhand because he's based in Zhar-Naggrund. He has iron legs and hands and can use magic, he'd be a very cool Legendary Lord.

Astragoth Ironhand and Drazhoath the Ashen are the ones I think are guaranteed, with Ghorth the Cruel potentially joining. I have a feeling one of their Lords will be placed in the Southern Chaos wastes, not out of any lore reason, but just a hunch based on how empty it is and it'd be a good spot to place one outside the Darklands.
We're totally going to get a Chaos Dwarf in Lustria for no fathomable reason.

The chaos dwarf lord there will likely be astragoth. Hes a half rock/mechanical wizard. Hes from the 4th edition book. The only other lord to get a mini was in in the center of the dark lands

Playthroughs are my most consumed Total War content by far. Really surprises me that you said no-one watches them.

Caos dwarfs are very similar in the infantry with the regular dwarfs, but they also have magic, they have crazy artillery , one weapon is a train wagon with artillery, and in range they have same weapons than regular dwarfs, but with some more , one like shotguns. They have some like centigors cavalry but stronger. Overall they are the dwarfs but much better and more flexible.
Tbf lore wise Kholek should be fighting in the dark since the pact he made with the Chaos Gods was so vile that the sun literally refuses to shine on him and he's always followed by a thunderstorm.

Enjoyed that! Greenskins swarming people is really satisfying but unfortunately it doesn’t work that well later in the campaign as unit dps scales-up faster than unit hp/defences. By the time you get a surround on, everything is dead!
I know it might be beta content before the real campaign start gets written and recorded, but I like that Grimgor foregoes the pre campaign motivation/game plan speech and instead just tells you to get smashin'.
I personally enjoy campaign videos much more than the other stuff, please keep making them 😁😁

18:25 That's actually pretty close to how a shadows fall in a moonlit night in reality. The illuminated side might be a bit too bright and should be toned down, however the side in the shadows looks really good.
Just in case you didn't notice: If a light source is blocked by solid objects like mountains the object casts a shadow.
