You have all been asking for this one for quite awhile! I'm pretty happy about it, mainly because it was a fun challenge and it helped me get some of my old metal chops back. I'm confident that this will only help make these videos greater. So here it is! How To: Make a Djent/Prog-Metal Song in 9 Min or Less! (Yes, 9 minutes. It's a lengthy one!)

Hope you all enjoy this one! It was a lot of fun to make. Just a few updates for you guys:
    - No friend to join me this time. My schedule was pretty tight, so I had to make this in all in about 3 days. Also, I forgot to unlock the "Guitar Slave" dungeon, sooo....
    - The "How-To" album and the Q&A are being worked on. The first 14 songs (and maybe the Halloween Rock one) will be on the album. This song and any other after it are considered a "Part 2". If the first album goes well, you can expect another with these songs + guitar tabs
That is all! I will see you all next time!

How did you even make this is 3 days!? I struggle sometimes to even come up with rhythmic and catchy riffs, and you conjured up a song like it was nothing. Sometimes I'll come up with something I kind of like, but not exactly what I want. How long have you been playing? How do you do it so well? And not just the technical side, but the coming up with riffs, melody and song structure aspect. I'd love to know so that maybe I can apply some sort of advice or mentality to my playing/way of approaching song making.

From there, I just made improvements and wrote down every idea I had. And now I have all of you amazing peeps to give me the same kind of feedback!

This is actually just the type of inspiration I was looking for! I'm in the process of trying to sort out writing metalcore, djent, progressive... I always write a cool riff but get stuck on it. I can never seem to break out and add variety and complexity while not straying too far from my original ideas, and then I lose it completely and have to start over.

Also as a 48 year old man who just picked up guitar as a very light hobby I feel saddened that I will in all actuality never get this good. It's very cool to that once you have the "skills" you can have fun and change it up and put things such as the different stages of forming this song together. I can follow along at the highest level with no detail, buy envy you young people who have the basic skills to play well and can experiment like this. Great video. Thanks for sharing it.

Man, what a sick song! It's like arsenal of riffs. And dynamic af. You make a whole pre-chorus, chorus and bridge all just made up of one melody and a few power chords...but with the power of dynamics. What I personally found very interesting was how you just intensified that pre-chorus and made it a chorus...honestly, don't remember hearing such an arrangement before....that move is so stolen by me lol.

Shady! Do you have tabs, or notation for this??! I would love to learn it--I know we talked about getting out of scale boxes on another video and I'd love your song here to be one to help me out of those!

At 4:13 when you changed the drum beat (Which was sick by the way) It would've been awesome if you changed the strumming a bit to complement the drums? The guitars just felt a bit too repetitive with the rest of the song. Just some constructive criticism, i love your music and vids 🙂
