    Could you go into more depth on how you get your kids involved and teach them from such a young age
    I was always shocked with Evan and Otto and their math skills at such a young age! And now Sylvie with her letters and even knowing the sounds the letters make at 18 months is amazing !!! :)
    So if you could do like a video on some of the stuff you do with them to get them started ?

    I'm a teacher at a Steiner School and I'm really happy that the kids had a good time there! But school is just not for everyone and homeschooling is probably the best for you loads :D

    • @stephmontvein8328
      @stephmontvein8328 2 года назад

      Hey, if it’s not much trouble can u tell me more about Steiner schools? I’m thinking about putting my kid in one but I can’t find much information about it. What’s the difference between Steiner and regular schools, Steiner and Montessori, what do kids learn in Steiner schools that makes it difference from others?

    • @stephmontvein8328
      @stephmontvein8328 2 года назад

      I fell like regular school was really bad for my mental health and I hated how it worked

    • @MorwenLhingril
      @MorwenLhingril 2 года назад +5

      @@stephmontvein8328 yeah sure.
      So the main thing in the Steiner School System is that it's meant to teach you freedom and independence. You're always encouraged to to think for yourself, be critical, and solve problems on your own/in small groups first, if possible without an adult. It is especially visible in all the creative subjects that are mandatory, like arts, a lot of different handiwork, woodwork or music. You will find that there's an overall "hands on" learning philosophy going on, where the students are exploring and learning at the same time. If your child is an independent and creative person that likes to express individuality this might be the right educational system for them.
      Montessori is kind of a related system (that I know much less about), based on a child's urge to learn. Montessori herself was studying children, what they needed, wanted and did at certain ages. She found that kids can participate in all everyday tasks like adults (obviously in a child friendly way). Again it's about reaching independence, the kids are allowed to decide for themselves a lot. It's a beautiful system with the student in focus, however if your child has ADHD they might be overwhelmed at first.
      If you're really looking to get your child into one of these systems I highly recommend contacting a school and asking if they can join the lessons for a week or so, most schools are super open about that. And there's always the internet for more info, that was just a very very brief overview 😀

    • @TiffanyAllen1784
      @TiffanyAllen1784 2 года назад +3

      @@stephmontvein8328 One thing that you should be looking for in a Steiner school is how much outside (non-Steiner/Waldorf) material they utilize. The child-led education and focus on nature are great, but the vast majority of the curriculum materials (Waldorf books and whatnot) are very Euro-centric and contain little to no diversity. (And exposure to diversity in the early years has been proven to be essential for a young child's development.)
      Some of its founders were pretty racist and while the people involved today tend to be very open and anti-racist, a lot of the books and materials that get designated as Waldorf/Steiner tend to be very much from an era when blond-haired, blue-eyed Europeans were considered the ideal. I'd definitely consider a Steiner/Waldorf school, but I'd want to ask what they're doing about including more diverse learning materials and ask to see some of what they work with.

It isn't typical either neurologically or anecdotally to find many 18-month olds who have the skills Sylvie demonstrated here. Rote memorization of the alphabet song? Sure. My kids loved that they often finished their work before the typical school day ended and had no homework as already did all their work they needed to do for the day. Also they were more easily able to take ‘wiggle’ breaks ( jump on the trampoline for 10 minutes after completing a subject) & learning not limited to stuck at a desk for hours. My grade 5 daughter usually does her work in various locations throughout the house (or outside depending on weather) but usually has a companion on her lap - our elderly cuddly cat.

    I'd love to see a "real and raw" homeschooling vlog.
    Where I'm coming from homeschooling isn't legal so its been quite a hassle when schools were closed most of 2020/2021. It worked out fine after some trial and error...😄 but I'm just a mom of two. How do you do it with all that different grades and levels and needs plus babies...etc....?

      Same. I'm surprised my kids doing well and even better with their study with homeschool during the covid outbreak. They had like exam right after school was on again and they nailed every subject.

    As long as children are learning, developing, and are emotionally supported they will do incredible whether it’s home school or mainstream schooling.
    I will say though, when the kids did goto mainstream school you didn’t seem overly happy about it. It definitely showed you missed the kids being home a lot!!
    It would have been a big change since they were always home

    Cosmo is such a little chunk!!!
    Didn't you move to that house to be closer to the kids new school??? Obviously, you know your kids best. (Your kids are amazing!) Chloe, let me tell you how much I respect your decision to keep your reasons to your family. Public life doesn't mean EVERYTHING is public. Your respect for your family is beautiful.
    Omg! Sylvie and those letters. That's amazing!!!!!

    The social media following will be a lot more interesting with the children at home. I also didn’t think Steiner would be a perfect fit for many reasons.
    Homeschooling would be much easier with regard to homework and other social commitments because having so many children in different classes can be hard to manage when they hold performance days , excursions, or are working on different projects. Much easier to manage all the children on variations of the same project theme and go on excursions together.

    Good luck. As there here in the UK parents can choose home education if they prefer. In fact Her Majesty the Queen of England was home schooled and never went to school at all (although her children did). Do consider the issues carefully as teen years come on however as for parents who do want their chilren to have choices to pursue quite academic careers there can come a point when school makes sense. My son had a boy join their school aged 16 for the last 2 years who had always been at home school. He definitely was behind the other boys and did not get into a normal good university although that does not matter of course for many people.

      In Canada many homeschoolers rejoin the system in grade 10, as that is when credits towards graduation start counting. Also that is when more specialized courses are offered so makes sense to rejoin then and most kids go on to thrive and do very well at high school & college like my kids.

    I actually thought maybe you might home school again, now that you have a Baby at home, it makes it a bit easier, that you don’t have to run the kids to and from. What ever fits your family, is Best for you. In today’s crazy world, everyone is better at home. In my opinion.

    How does homeschooling work? Do you have books you have to use or are you free to choose schoolbooks? And are there certain timelines you have to consider?

    Kid language has its own rules! My brother used to call me Dee-Tah when he was little even though that sounds nothing like my name lol. My SO used to call his sister Yoo-Yah which made sense because her name is Yulia, but my SO's niece also called her sister Yoo-Yah and her name sounds nothing like that.

      I really want to know who Dee-tah is. My son said that for a while and now one knew who Dee-Tah was. We are not english speaking. 😄
