This dynamic MC has so many layers with the cadences that he laces over the these neck breaking tracks and the messages that he has within!!! As he references the life around him and how people are going about their day to day grind he expands on how the wicked ways can take over and even bring ruin to our lives as well!!!! JID has fun with the fact that nobody knows for sure what to call him. The first line of the song he refers to himself as J.I.D., Jid, and Jiddy. And the more of his stuff you hear, the more youll see that he switches up between those all the time. Hes also known to throw a 'Jid-Hova' in there from time to time.
Also, for the record.... that sample during that Crisco bar wasnt saying 'Crystal'. Them captions are off sometimes. It said 'Christo', who is a producer that has been laying tracks with JID for a long, long time. That's his audio tag line.

Jid.. As a child he could not sit still. His grandmother could not pronunciate "jittery" and she would say "jiddery." Hence the name Jid
His name is actually Jid but he uses all caps JID. When he was young he could not sit still and his grandmother used to say he was jittery. However, his grandmother could not say it properly so she would say jiddery. Hence, the name Jid is short for his grandma pronunciation of jettery as jiddery.

@@aaronarceneaux1564 I believe it’s the other way around. Even if you look up his older stuff they say J.I.D, but after he started to blow up more after DiCaprio 2 it was hard to search his stuff so he took the decimal points out
The “me and Cristo got it popping like crisco” is him shouting out his producer. The bent vocal there is cristo’s producer tag
His name means jittery. His grandma gave him that name because of his personality. He says J.I.D, Jid. Or even jiddy so you're both right lol

Crazy to me how the first 3 bars of this song, he refers to himself as the 3 different pronunciations of his name….. and dudes hear that and still ask what the correct pronunciation is.. he just gave you the answer

Jid has music that going back 12 years. He was amembers of the group Zoink Gang and now Spillage Village and won 2 grammys also. He use football schemes since he was a good player and won a scholarship. Did good in college until he screwed up and got kicked off the time the second year.

If you pay attention to those first few verses he refers to himself as Jid, J.I.D, and Jiddy. Their all references to his childhood nickname Jiddery. Watch an interview, and you'll see why his family and friends called him that.
