You gave this dresser a second life. Well done. The nutmeg stain was a good choice. It worked with the residual red tones in the wood instead of fighting it.
You did one of the best jobs I've seen on this kind of finish. That two tone early 50s finish was called "guitar finish". It is super hard to undo. Usually these get painted by flippers, because no one wants to strip and refinish.
Cool, I never heard of a "guitar finish" but definitely applies to this particular finish! I had my doubts at the beginning if it would totally come off but with ALOT of sanding it did!
I don't know about 50's furniture but I have a guitar with a two-tone finish called a sunburst finish. And I must say it looks better on my guitar than on that dresser, which BTW now looks amazing! Great job!
Are You Kidding?? This is Stunning Compared to what It Looked like! Creative's are Always Their Toughest Critics! The Original Makers hid all that Lovely Design. Great Color choice. The Darker Trim on the Drawers is Such a nice 'Hidden' Touch. You can't see it Until You open it. It adds to the Beauty of the Piece. Loved the Retro Jazzy Movie Music! I was half expecting a Jewel Heist to Happen any Moment!😁
The one you did before came out beautiful better than the original you do perfect clean job. That’s what I love about you. Everything comes out beautiful.
OMG!!! What a transformation! You paid attention to every detail inside & out. Perfection! It's "Gorgeous"! I Love the Nutmeg! Thank-you for sharing. 😊
Wow, you turned a dumpy MCM dresser into a very upscale, expensive looking piece of fine furniture! Great job! I need to get some of that Odie's Oil! ♥
Great work! Great find! Really shocking to see the beautiful grain and figure of the wood under that cheesy finish. I think paint for wood is the absolute last resort, and I started to worry that was your plan when you pulled it out. Your use of it as a treatment on concealed edges was smart, inventive, and enhanced your refinishing work. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words. If the wood is in good enough condition to refinish I will almost always leave it natural or stain instead of paint. It’s just my preference! ☺️
You did a great job. I have to use nutmeg stain and a sealer for a breadboard. Your video is also a great "how to do it right" for me. Thank you for that. The dresser is beautiful; but, I would change the much outdated drawer pulls. That would change the look a lot and make it more aesthetically pleasing. I think you'd like that since you're not overwhelmingly pleased with the dresser.😊
Thanks. If I had kept the dresser for myself I might have changed the pulls. But the pulls were in such great shape I decided to leave them knowing someone would love them! Good luck on your project!
Loved the finish. Love your videos. The music is really my style and does not detract from the overall experience. I have learned a lot from your work. Thanks so much.
The color is much improved and looks beautiful, but the style is too much 'George Jetson' for me. You did a wonderful job, very impressed with your skills, and I learned some new tricks! Thanks very much for sharing.
You did an amazing job on this piece. Really impressive work. I am going to try that gel stain, you made it look so easy. My only suggestion is to not paint over the dove tails.
Thanks so much....I love general finish gel stains....the reason I painted the dovetails was that I couldn't get out the red dye stain from the original finish and I felt it looked unsightly when the drawers were opened!
Great job!! I’m glad you gave it a chance and didn’t just scuff sand and paint. Painting walnut would be blasphemy in my book but it’s sometimes hard for me to tell the difference between walnut and teak.
Hi, The piece really looks terrific. You really gotta love mid century to look beyond what's there and see potential. Hard to believe at one time that style was considered attractive. The handles on the bottom three drawers are fantastic! Do you flip and sell, give away, or keep your ugly ducklings that turn into swans? Thanks
Hi, Thanks for the kind words. And I never really mentioned the handles in the video but I did think they looked pretty cool! 😎. I do flip and sell the pieces I re-do. Sometimes I keep for myself, but I have really run out of space! 😉
You gave this dresser a second life. Well done.
The nutmeg stain was a good choice. It worked with the residual red tones in the wood instead of fighting it.
Thank you - I don't think nutmeg has ever failed me! 😂
It's really lovely. I'm glad you didn't paint it or mess with the original design. Just right. Great work.
I thought the design was quirky enough! Thanks 😊!
What’s not to love - the finish is beautiful, and those handles are crazy cool 👍🏻 :)
Thanks!☺️

@@barrydsears yes, the finish was two toned to resemble a guitar finish. Very popular furniture finishes in the late 50s.
Glad to know it has a name. I guess I’m one of the few who actually likes it!
That said, the refinish looks nice.

Ha! Thanks for the comments....Sometimes you spend so much time with these pieces it distorts the perspective of what you've done!
Love it❤
Very proud you came out beautiful love it better than before❤😊
Thanks! 😀
Quite stunning. Never thought it could be that beautiful.
Thanks, looks can be deceiving! 😉
Huge difference. You gave it the beauty it deserved. Beautiful work.
Thank you. I’m glad I was able to make it worthwhile again! 😁
Didn't think you'd be able to rescue this one!! Spot on.😍
If that’s not the most unique MCM dresser everrr 😍😍😍👍🏼
Quite!😉
Stunning transformation. So glad you left the cool drawer pulls!
Thanks, the drawer pulls were very unique! 😊
You did an amazing job!! Love the outcome!!
100 times better!!! Great work! ❤🇸🇪
💯Thanks!😂
You have done a wonderful job. Give your self a pat on the back
Thank you! I am happy that I saved it from the landfill, and the person who bought really liked it!
Now that’s how it should have looked right out of the factory. Nice job!
Thank you! ☺
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!! Just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Job
Thanks 😆
I love those angled handles. The whole piece has a great vintage style.
Thanks! 😊
What a difference loving hands can make
The one you did before came out beautiful better than the original you do perfect clean job. That’s what I love about you. Everything comes out beautiful.
I try my best and I like to bring it back to as close to original as I can (or better) 😂
I can't get over how beautiful and timeless it is now.
Thanks...definitely an improvement! 😆
It’s beautiful. You really paid attention to every detail. It looks better than it would have looked new back then.
Thanks! 😃
I also despise that two-tone ombre effect on MCM furniture! The beautiful wood grain and the lovely drawer hardware just get lost! Wonderful result!
Thanks! 😌
Your results are stunning! It looks a hundred times better than originally!
I think so too! And it sold very quickly!
I love that you kept the MCM design. It is a showpiece now!
Thanks, 🙏 and ☺️
It looks timeless and you did an excellent job giving it this look.
Thanks! 😃
A lovely rejuvenation. More please! 👍🏼
Thanks! My next one should be out in 2 weeks....it's a small 3 drawer dresser covered in white paint! UGH!
OMG!!! What a transformation! You paid attention to every detail inside & out. Perfection! It's "Gorgeous"! I Love the Nutmeg! Thank-you for sharing. 😊
Glad you like it! Thanks! 😊
Very cool MCM design. And those drawer pulls are badass. Great job. 👍
Thanks! and I Agree 💯
What a showpiece! Fantastic makeover.
Thank you very much! 😀
Great job! It looks wonderful! Love the jazz in the background.
Thanks, I really like to work on these pieces that look "unsaveable"
This looks really good. You did a wonderful job and rescued this piece.
Thanks, glad you like the results!
Iwould painting, white and put glitter and resin and gold nice buttons ❤ so I’m gonna watch how yours come out
Wow, and wow. Significant improvement.
Thanks! 😊
Excellent result. Thank you for sharing. If I have to point out a detail, I use the same final music😀. Greetings.
Thank-you! 😁
Wow, you turned a dumpy MCM dresser into a very upscale, expensive looking piece of fine furniture! Great job! I need to get some of that Odie's Oil! ♥
Thanks a lot! Yes, I love Odie's Oil! And it smell so good!
Beautiful. You made it look better than new.
Thanks!☺️
Amazing transformation! Looks absolutely stunning, great work.
Thanks!😊

Great restoration and attractive finish.
Thanks!😊
The end result is beautiful.
Thanks! 😄
❤ now it's a natural wood color, and i like brown furniture 😀
Thanks, really anything was better than it was! 😂
Wonderful job!!! I too hated that original finish. You made it so lovely and some MCM enthusiast will jump on this beauty 🤗
Thanks so much! Sometimes it's hard to look past the surface!
Loved the finish. Love your videos. The music is really my style and does not detract from the overall experience. I have learned a lot from your work. Thanks so much.
Awesome! Thank you! 😊
Absolute perfection! Love it.

Ha! I totally get the George Jetson reference! So true! Thanks for watching and glad it was helpful! 😄
It's beautiful! What a score with those handles 😮
Thanks! Some people loved them, some not so much!😂
@@mcmredo there will always be a few that prefer IKEA. That's fine... they can shape there instead! 😊
It looks so much better. Good job.
Thanks!😁
Wow! The end result is amazing! Great job!
Thank you, I agree that it looks 💯 better than when I started!
This turned out beautiful!!
Beautiful job and it looked so so much better as it should have looked.
I liked the handles on it too 😊
Thanks!
Really thorough stripping and sanding job....so happy you stained and used Odie’s. Now I’m a new sub! It’s transformed!
Thanks! Welcome to my channel. Next up is a 9 drawer dresser! 😎
Remarkable transformation
😃Thanks!
Loved the music and the very professional editing of your process! The final finish is "Glowing!" Beautifully done!
I am at the beginning of the learning curve for music and editing so thanks for the words of encouragement! 😊
Another beautiful job, Laurie!
Thank you so much!😊
I think it turned out great. It’s not my style either, but you did an awesome job turning it around
Thanks...like minded!😉
Love the finished product ❤❤❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow, this is gorgeous. You did a great job. I love the hardware on those drawers
Thank you, yes the hardware was very unusual! 😊
Quedo espectacular!!! Una belleza!!!
Thanks! 😁
Wow. She’s a beauty!
Thanks. It just goes to show you what effect a finish has on a piece of furniture!
Just lovely!! Personally, I’m not a fan of the paint/color on drawer edges, but that’s a nit - great job! 🎉
Thanks! 😊
It is stunning!
Thanks! 😊
Great job! That style is starting to grow on me, but I’d have probably gone with a different color.
If I come across another one I am definitely going to try something different.
Beautiful and very well done 👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!😁
VERY NICE RESULTS...
WELL DONE 👏!!!
Glad you like it! 😀

Great job!! I’m glad you gave it a chance and didn’t just scuff sand and paint. Painting walnut would be blasphemy in my book but it’s sometimes hard for me to tell the difference between walnut and teak.
Thanks....I'm not much of a painter of furniture although I don't mind it if it's tastefully done! 😆
That looks amazing.
Glad you thought so! 😃
I have that same dresser, I love the Nutmeg color.
Ha! Nutmeg is one of my favourite stains! 🤤
Far better, be confident in your decisions, you did very well on this.
Thank you - I felt the dresser definitely looked better after the refinish but I think if I did it over again I would have gone with a darker stain!
Precioso!!
WOW! beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Looks beautiful!
Thanks! 😀
Stunning!
