    Hello from Australia. Running 17.5 stock on dirt. 16K is where I have it runs pretty cool. Love your content Great video. Thank you.

      Hello over there! Love AUS , bucket list to come there.. one day! Very interesting! So glad I’ve got drive frequency in the brain now.. seems an awesome tool! Is that outdoor?
      Thanks soo much!

    Hello from the PNW of the united States! My son has been running his b7 hard and hasn't had any heat issues yet. We are running a sp5-21.5 - 33/72T and a 2 gear diff on carpet. our quals and mains are about 5 min. a couple of weeks ago his sister hot lapped it and then gave it directly to him to run in the next heat. we are also running the g3 just stock with the smart fan. oh yeah and our diff fluid is 200k. One thing I was thinking was your motor timing might be a bit high? our sp5 we have it running kind of right at the edge for 47-48 degrees. Not really throwing any answers your way just data points. he is 2 for 2 on top of the podium though with his b7! Love your vids and your colors are my daughters fav!

      Hey US 👋ahh that’s awesome! Thankfully I think I’m sorted to… motor timing was set correct at 44 degrees. Actually set this on an analyser before fine tuning with gearing… appreciate the data points , love the data side and hearing what everyone is running! That’s awesome results tell him I said keep it up!! Thanks for enjoying the content , much more to come.

    Thing to be aware of is that the higher you go on that frequency setting the hotter the esc will get. This is because the mosfets have to switch on and off much faster to keep up. That’s the real trade off. That and the low end torque on the bottom end of the throttle curve. You still get all your top end on the motor though and it will indeed run smoother and cooler.

      100%! I’ve settled on 4k , this is of course all assuming everything else is right… gearing etc , all good fun! Thanks for the comment and watching

    Good to know as I will be running my B7D this weekend. How did you mount the fan that you showed in your video?

    • @bashtux1
      @bashtux1 3 месяца назад

      pretty sure it was double sided tape ;)

    • @SeanyRC
      @SeanyRC  3 месяца назад

      That was just double sided tape.. but to be honest it’s not needed there! Use the mount provided and that should be sufficient , I only did that as I was in a thermal hole!

      I’m running off road dirt and would not like to run my fan in the stock location so not to pull in dust and dirt.
      I used an exotek right angle mount onto one of the existing holes on the motor can. But it’s a few millimeters too high and runs into the body

    My wife just surprised me with a b74.1 my new beautiful buggy has a slipper with this work on my local clay track or am I into center diff swap

      Lucky guy! depends on the grip levels.. if its low grip you may want a centre diff! have a look and see what the locals are rocking with.. :)

    Everyone at my track running the B7 has said their motor temps are way higher than they were in their 6.4 cars. It’s that stupid 5 gear transmission causing the motors to work harder. What you’ve done works, or you can get all your punch back by switching to the R1 3-gear transmission. Better yet run an LD3! 😂

      Haha 😛 yeah I’ve heard this gearing issue , hopefully I’ve fixed mine! Might have to try and transmission just for the fun of it!

      the problem might not be the gearing but rather that the engine is put so much further front in the car it dont get airflow as the 6.4 does as engine sits further back to the outlet of the body sort of.
      im running a Xray xb2-22 and depending on the shape and cutting line of the rear end on the body i can vary the engine and esc temp as much as 15 degrees during a hot summer day out on a astro track and dont change a setting on the ESC.
      ESC is HW xr10pro and 6.5T motor.

      I’ve been running a 7.5 with an xr10 pro 22/76 gearing at Junction16 and Midlands, 8k no issues with temps at all, I can’t give you an exact figure, just because I haven’t had to worry about it. In theory the lower the freq, the cooler the motor should run because the esc isn’t pulsing it as many times, so it high grip situations it doesn’t generate as much heat and you don’t need to worry about traction. The really low freq must be more inefficient with your motor hence why it generates more heat, it seems only recently HW have had lower than 8k in the firmware.
      When I get it outside on astro I’ll bump it up to 32k so it’s smoother.

      @@extec101 very good points and something to consider for sure! I think fingers crossed I’ve nailed it now , will keep testing and learning though… thanks for the feedback!

    Hello mate, It was not clear from your video what your starting PWM was when you were having the heat issue?
    I'm assuming it was even lower at say 1k? as you have said higher is smother and lower temps.
    General consensus I was told is for lower grip you want to move PWM higher so anything from say 8k-24k and I personally run around 16k on low grip (this is very low grip lose dirt) and have even run as high as 24k
    For high grip I was told this should be lower on about 4-8k which is in about the range you are now.
    By the way I was recently shown this, but you can actually set a fully customised PWM based on Throttle position.
    (You can only set a custom profile when using the HW App using the bluetooth method)
    Choose custom in the PWM settings and then you see a graph on which you can add points, you can then say start your PWM at pehaps 2k for 0% throttle and when it reaches 10% move the PWM linear up to 4k etc, so you can set a lower PWM for the lower throttle positions where you want the most punch and power and then have it ramp up all the way to the much higher PWM of 32k (more RPM) for when you are at higher throttle rates so you get the best of both and have the punch down low and the top end up high.

      Starting was 1k… definitely agree with what you’re saying but I think my base initial setting was way too low! Especially where I like to jam that throttle… I’m going to look into that!

    • @bashtux1
      @bashtux1 3 месяца назад +1

      @@SeanyRC Yeah I would say 1k was too low, I've never run it that low, even on our high grip clay surface, the lowest I've run was 4k.
      But yeah look into the custom PWM setting, it's a great option to give you a much wider settings range and you can still limit the start of throttle to 4k etc..
